Wonderful channel. I just found out when you're non-fiction books to read for 2023 came on my feed. I'm glad I get to catch your latest just dropped an hour ago! I'm also glad that your non-fiction choices are open to science and history, and not just memoirs and narrative events.
As always, lots of intriguing reads!! I'm most interested in Get the Picture! This year I've been all about art as a topic - artist biographies, art crimes, art forgery, even some books that reimagine the history behind a piece of art. I will definitely read that one!
The Painter’s Daughters sounds interesting. Gainsborough is my mum’s favourite artist so we always had images of his paintings in the house growing up.
Read somewhere* that Amor Towles was to be releasing a new book in February. I think related stories that will be incorporating one or more of the characters from “The Rules of Civility”. *I don’t remember specifically where I saw that bit of news.
I’m a presidential history nerd, so I cannot wait for “Dear Mom and Dad” by Patti Davis to come out on February 6, which just so happens to be her father’s birthday! 😊
I read Rachel Kapelke-Dale’s previous book The Ingenue. It was…okay. It’s about a pianist and it was really obvious that the author isn’t a musician. I’m not sure if she’ll be able to convincingly create an elite academic environment. I’m excited for the new Kristin Hannah book. I’ve been disappointed by so many new releases lately (it’s like people forgot how to construct a sentence in lockdown) but her writing is always so effortless.
Happy Holidays, Olive! I've just placed "The Stars Turned Inside Out" onto my wishlist. Thank you so much for this recommendation as well as the rest of this intriguing list of new releases. Cheers, Ardith
So glad you shared a mix of fiction and non-fiction. I’m trying to read more non-fiction and you are a great cheerleader. Most of these interest me. Thanks so much.
As a translator and researcher of Japanese Classical poetry, which is full of citations and references, so much so that even there was a technique of making poems from existing verses, Who Owns This Sentence? by David Bellos and Alexandre Montagu sounds super interesting. Hoping you would do a review of it 😉
So many good books. I am looking forward to Katherine Arden's new book. I really enjoyed The Bear and The Nightingale, so I hope this one will be equally as good. I am surprised that you don't have There's Always This Year by Hanif Abdurraqib. It's about basketball and how some people make it in the sport, while others don't.
I'm looking forward to this January release: The Once and Future Sex: Going Medieval on Women's Roles in Society by Eleanor Janega. Sounds like an interesting one!
Olive, I'm wondering if you know of any currently available books on otters? My daughter loves them, but when I look on B&N, most of what comes up are either children's books or coloring books. I'm looking forward to Always Remember by Mary Balogh, coming out on Jan 16th.
You don’t mention the age of your daughter but has she read Tarka the Otter by Henry Williamson. It’s an old one follows the life or Tarka in the wilds of England. I think I read it in the 70’s.
The Fortune Seller sounds interesting! I just finished a fantasy/dark academia book: Blood Over Bright Haven by ML Wang. VERY good. It might restore your faith in dark academia!
Lots to look forward to in 2023 book wise. I finished a great book on Friday night. The Road to Dalton It’s a debut. It was recommended by Russell @inkandpaperblog 🍀👋☘️📖📚🇮🇪📕☕️
All of these sound enticing! I LOVE your sweater!!!

Me calling Tony: "Hi, Olive wants to go book shopping on Valentines. You're welcome." *hangs up.
I always seem to find a handful of interesting books to look forward to from these videos that I had no heard of before watching. Thanks, Olive!
I would read Bianca Bosker’s shopping list… CANNOT WAIT FOR HER NEW BOOK. I will order it from the US if need be!
I'm so excited for the Katherine Arden release! Never heard of The Fortune Seller but had to pass it on to my friend who loves dark academia.
February

I just saw this on the B&N site yesterday ! They’re showing a release date in April. I’m super excited about this too.

I’ve got my on the Warm Hands of Ghosts too. The Stars Turned Inside Out sounds interesting.
They all sound amazing, I’d be interested to see reviews of at least most of them

Definitely The Stars Turned Inside Out by Nova Jacobs and the new Charles Duhigg
Love this video. Preordered Fox wife and put 2 others in the library waiting list.
This is such a great resource! The Edith Wharton mystery is especially intriguing to me 🕵♀️

The Women by Kristin Hannah Feb 6

Eleanor Janega. Sounds like an interesting one!
Can you make a video on clean book recommendations for middle graders (Gr.7&8) that are slightly more mature, but not too gruesome or mature? Thanks!❤
I don't read middle grade books, so I'm afraid I can't help!
@@abookolive thanks though!
