This is an Ark Build Guide for a Steamboat Raft build with a custom paint job to match the Arctic environment we design it in. This is The Arctic Steamboat and part 14 in my Ark: Survival Evolved Building Tutorial series! For this boat design we use stone and wood building pieces, sky blue, navy blue and slate grey paint.
The build is entirely vanilla and leaves room for 17 additional structures for decoration, crafting, storage, or a bed. We built it on The Island map at coordinates 13.2/10.2. Building materials required will be pinned near the top of the comments.

Just so you know I've used your boat build for every map every year every server. Now AsA is out and I'm yet again using your build or I'm hoping too. I hope it works the same. Thank you so much for this design its been filled with so many memories and my friends love it and know this boat will be there anytime we play Ark.

Future tip for the 45 degree angle, stand on the tip of the placed foundation and than just look right or left depending on which way you want it

I'm building your steam boat now! Your tutorial worked perfectly! You are an ARK Artists! Thanks for these building tricks! (if anyone is building this awesome boat, it's (5) five pillars after the one already in place for the right height adjustment so raft is still accessible.) ..and I had to insert ceilings in some areas also, then foundations. Note: if your having an issue placing the foundations after the ceiling, make sure you are in deep enough water, I ran into this problem, but realized I wasn't deep enough, then worked like a charm. (Another Note: I used brick instead of stone since I'm on PVP, so as far as the pillars go, I had to go two more down, so the raft was still accessible).

Yes I enjoy this design a lot, I haven't had time to paint it yet,.. but I love your Arctic color design. Not sure how well that will work with the brick I used, and I probably don't have has much wood in case someone attacks it, but I will be experimenting. Usually, if no doors are locked and there is nothing to steal, I notice my rafts are usually still in once piece.
that fluffy afro reminds me of the painter Bob Ross who passed on. i am glad ark put it in as a hair style option. it is cool looking and reminds me of him even if it was not their intent to do so. you do some really cool designs.

@1426 you can place those ceilings, you just need to place the gate last, gates act like ramps, and will place clipping into walls and ceilings. Great raft design!

I think this was pre snap point rotation--but I have since learned--it mapped to my mouse with the hotbar and Ark Commander.

I really want to do this. I probably would if I didn't think it was gonna get destroyed by a huge sea Dino. It would be devastating to put hours into this just to have the raft destroyed and everything comes down with it.
Try to stick close to the coastline where leedsichys can't get to you and you should be okay. Also, make sure your bottom foundations overlap the bottom of your raft/motorboat so that if one attacks, it has to break the foundations before it can get to the raft itself

+UniteTheClans I looked into the update, basically you cannot add more foundations with ceilings so the absolute limit is 9 foundations. Thankfully there is a work around, the aforementioned change is only present on official servers so private/non-dedicated can still create this masterpiece build :) Though it's a huge shame that WC chose to make this decision hopefully they will rethink.

One little thing I wanted to share is that with dino gates, the direction it opens in actually depend on what doorpanel you "E" on. For example, if it opens towards you when you "E" the *right* doorpanel, it'll open away from you if you "E" the *left* doorpanel. :)

I think you can't turn them onn on Xbox because you need to do it in the game data on PC, and these don't exist for consoles I think, but for the flyer nerf there is a mod

I finished mine just now, have some mistakes in it, couldn't get the front pillar in for 1 and no gate (lol), but i haven't been playing long and am still learning. Had to remove some foundations because there was a limit :( Still i am pleased with the result and it floats! Thank you so much for sharing :) .

I think I found a trick for jumpy snap points. Find a nice solid point where the structure does not jump around. Then hit the "Q" button (sorry, don't know the console equivalent). This should cycle through the nearby snap points and eliminate the jumpy glitch problem. Just came across it last night with ramps so also not sure it translates to other structures. Keeping fingers crossed.
+Jay Dee yup! It'll work for any piece :) not flawless but it's better than what we had before.
Tip: if you try to find a certain snap point press 'Q'. If you do that the game will give you a different snap point

I built this ship. The structure of the boat is identical. It is 7x2, not 9x2 as described early in the video prior to the changes UTC makes at the end when he goes back to his old design.
At the 19:48 mark, our boats are identical except for my having windows instead of walls on the second floor of the stone cabin.
I add the trophy base at the front. Still identical.
At this point, there are exactly 6 pieces left out of 88.
-> UTC places a wall torch, a catwalk, and an artifact base.
-> I substitute 2 reinforced doors and a flag instead.
I had items remaining at that point for exactly 3 structures, which i've placed inside as large storage boxes.
Beautiful boat, but a far cry from the ~17 spare pieces described at the front of the video. I was just making it as a decoration for my harbor instead of for functionality, so it's not really that important to me.

In the way front you can use fence foundations to destroy those stone foundations and replace them with walls to make the front look more boat like without the stone foundations sticking out ruining it, otherwise sick build 👍🏿
Wait just one fucking minute. You can snap foundations to the bottom of ceilings? ALL HOPE IS NOT LOST FOR BUILDING IN ARK! WOOOOOHOOOOOO!

I just spent 3 hours trying to get the materials for this on a pvp server and I have to say, I underestimated this boat and it's complex design of snap points.
+Hamnar the Destroyer if you follow the steps and build the ceilings before the inside out walls you shouldn't have too much trouble!
I've been building a long time so some of this stuff seems simple to me but it's complex for most folks. I do all my designs with PvE in mind, never sure how they'll survive in PvP

It is the bane of all rafts. They are not fun, and would wreck any raft if given the chance, but I still wanted to put this build together!
Well, luckily the server I'm on has their spawns turned down a bit and I can probably just bring a whale or mosa behind me.
What if they added primative wooden and stone platforms that fell down like the medieval bridges, God that would be the best.

At 16:20 ish, instead of moving the gate, you can remove the dino gate, place the sloped ceiling, then replace the dino gate. At least that worked for me! Hope that helps future builders.

Better tip: To CENTER the first pillar, it's not just getting onto the raft and not move, DRIVE IT FORWARD and you directly center your first snap.

Really cool raft, for pve... I don't know if this was supposed to be for pvp, but people can go up to the pontoon with a metal hatchet, then the whole thing is gone.

Everyone If u want a way to get easy storage get a small dino and pump whight into it then but food and anything else u have in it because i will not be able to move for example i had a dodo the had 450 white and i put 10000 stacks of stones it it and it worked
