    I'm amazed watching this in mid May 2020. Can't wait for the pandemic to be over and head for the ocean.

      right? Everything feels different now, just watching crowds seems strange.

    So fascinating to watch. I'm a swimmer, and this is something I really want to learn and get good at in the coming years (I'm only 19 atm). Love your videos Daan! I live literally a couple kilometers away from Nemo33 ^^

      yes it is isn't it! The conditions were just amazing that day. We were back there this year and apart from doing a new record, I also filmed a video with Daan to show how beautiful this place is to explore, check it out, we are quite pleased with it: ua-cam.com/video/OrRj6mMtZFk/v-deo.html

    this is inspiring me to train more. i want to be able to swim for 2.5 mins underwater by july any tips :)? (I'm at 1 minute right now)

    • @DaanVerhoeven
      @DaanVerhoeven  7 років тому +8

      The most important tip i can give you is to never train alone! Black outs are a real possibility. Find a good, educated buddy to train with, or a good club. Instructors are essential to help you develop, as they not only can teach you new things, but also guide you away from errors.
      The only safe thing you can practise by yourself are breath holds in bed.

    hi daan. i'm one of your big fans.
    so i just see your interview with gillette world sport.
    so i was wondering, what kind of noseclip you use above your mask?
    is it can be use to equalize your mask?
    thanks. big appreciate.
    keep do what you love.

    • @DaanVerhoeven
      @DaanVerhoeven  7 років тому +1

      My noseclip is made by octopus freediving www.octopusfreediving.com/ I find that when you put it over your mask and you equalise a bit more than normal, you equalise your mask, too.

      Wow. Amazing. Ok let me try to find it in Indonesia.
      Thanks a lot daan

    Hi Daan,
    Does she fill water into her goggles? No correction lens used? It seems not a fluid goggle.
    Thanks

    • @DaanVerhoeven
      @DaanVerhoeven  7 років тому +2

      Yes, just water. It's so that she doesn't get water running over her eyes while going down, which can cause you to lose your mouthfill and miss equalisation.

  • @alexandernikolenko7251
    @alexandernikolenko7251 7 років тому +3

    Why does she not feel pressure in her ears? She doesn't equalize the pressure... Right?

    • @DaanVerhoeven
      @DaanVerhoeven  7 років тому +6

      She does equalise -she has a noseclip on, so that keeps her nose sealed and she can equalise against it.

      does she has fluid in her goggles?

    • @DaanVerhoeven
      @DaanVerhoeven  7 років тому +2

      yes, she floods them before she dives

    • @SvenVee
      @SvenVee 7 років тому +1

      is that necessary for deep dives? to flood your goggles?

  • @antoinemaquet
    @antoinemaquet 7 років тому

    Hey, very nice video ! I am wondering why doesn't she use her arms at the end ?

    • @DaanVerhoeven
      @DaanVerhoeven  7 років тому

      Thank you! In the last meters a freediver becomes positively buoyant again, so you don't need to swim as much.

    • @antoinemaquet
      @antoinemaquet 7 років тому

      Ok, thank you. So the deeper you are, the more you have to swim to go up ?

    • @annaboetticher
      @annaboetticher 7 років тому +1

      hi Antoine, yes that is right! Our lungs and wetsuits get more and more compressed as we get deeper, so we get heavier the deeper we are and it is harder and harder to swim up. This is also why from a certain depth (here around 30m) we stop swimming on the way down and just let ourselves freefall into the depth. This is a very special part of the dive.
