Great movie. Burt at his best. Terrific flick. An underrated movie, certainly. Burt and Sally and so many others killed it here.
An homage by Burt to a great crew of stuntmen he knew over the years. On top of that a funny movie. Never gets old.
'Me and Jocko never turned down a stunt...never turned down a gag.' Awesome.

I was 13 when the Movie came out. It was like the greatest movie ever for a 13 year old boy, over the years could never seem to find the movie to watch, finally found it on Amazon Prime, and at 57 years old it still held some of that magic.

Watched Hooper again the night Burt passed....got to say as a 50 year old man.. the very last scene when he looked into camera and gave that ok sign with his hand..i choked up...RIP BURT, MY CHILDHOOD HERO...Jan Michael Vincent is with you now ..Two Legends together again..RIP

That gets me every time now, Peter. Also the scene in Smokey 1 when he looks at the camera, smiles, and speeds off. But I bawled my eyes out hard in the very last scene of The Last Movie Star. Miss Burt so much, he was and always will be the best. RIP BUDDY

True story: a friend of mine LOVED this movie. Obsessed over it. Used to watch it endlessly over and over again until finally, he decided to quit his job and become "a Hollywood stuntman" because (like the song lyrics promised) you'd "end up with the prettiest girl around" (1:50). So, he enrolled in the stunt program at Universal Studios Hollywood and started his career.....only he found out it WASN'T like the movie! It WASN'T all fun, glamour, glitz, fooling around on set, drinking afterwards at a local dive, and going home with the prettiest girl around....y'know, just like in HOOPER! It was hard work, dedication to the craft, lotsa exercise, hours of study, and nothing like the movie! After two weeks he quit and never spoke about it again.

He always is the bad guy,
who gets it in the end
    He's up there stopping horses
    or falling off a train
    He never won a gunfight,
    a squabble or a brawl,
    For being such a loser,!
    Hooper's really got it all
You can toss him, blast him, flip him and turn him,
Shoot him, hang him, bury and burn him,
Chances are, Hooper's back for more.
    Running around, across the ground,
Take a truck, run him down,
He ain't easy, he's up and gone.
You can hit him, kick him, gen'rally abuse him,
Set him on fire, we'll amuse him.
Heaven knows, he won't hold a grudge.
He'll look you in the eye
and tell you with a smile
There ain't nothing like the life of a Hollywood stuntman.
Some folks used to tell him,
    he ought to settle down.
    Find a steady woman,
and land a job in town.
    But somehow that attraction,
    never seemed too great.
    You always seem him leaving
just before it gets too late.
    Going down the highway,
    Rarely on the ground,
    Never run to 80,
    Ejection from the sound.
    Later in the evening,
    he's tearing up the town.
Always seems to end up with
    the prettiest girl around.
You can toss him, blast him, flip him and turn him,
Shoot him, hang him, bury and burn him,
Chances are, Hooper's back for more.

Jake DeLeon I did music with Bent. He wrote that song and submitted it and they liked the song but they wanted someone else to sing it. Burt said “ I like this guy and I want him to sing it.” So they flew Bent to Nashville and he recorded it.

He always is the bad guy who gets it in the end
He's up there stuffing horses, or falling off a train
He never won a gunfight, squabble or a brawl
For being such a loser, Hooper's really got it all.
You can toss him, blast him, flip him or turn him
Shoot him, hang him, bury and burn him
Chances are, Hooper's back for more
Run him out across the ground, take a truck - run him down
He ain't easing, he's up and gone
You can hit him, kick him, generally abuse him
Set him on fire will amuse him
Heaven knows, he wont hold a grudge
He'll look you in the eye - and tell you with a smile
"There ain't nothing like the life of a Hollywood stuntman!"

Loved this movie as a child but I gotta admit the movie is a bunch of lazy writing and this song is even worse crap, oh well the things you realize when you get older🤷🏻‍♂️
