Ran one like that but electric, 25,000 fbm a shift 2 men , graded sorted to size the guys got the slabs and took away the lumber , I was very impressed with the edger , good sizes
We have a twin blade edger for our 94 lt40. Works great when we have hundreds of flitches flitches of white cedar to trim to get the bark edges off. We chip all the cedar and sell the wood chips. The pine slabwood we sell as boilerwood by the dumptrailer load cheap to make it disappear. All our nice 4,6 and 8" cedar get made into paneling and shiplap after kiln drying and planing 1 face and trimming 1 edge square on the sawmill to run against the molder fence. Need to build a 2nd kiln already and get a lt70 setup in a shed next
Sounds like you got quite the operation going. Great idea with the cedar and chipping it. Everything is bundled and sound. If we got alot of cedar we would separate it and grind it for mulch.
Kev went you got a bandsaw mill got to have an edger for sure . Bandsaw mill don’t stop live i edge board buddy . Edger is the way to go buddy , next wk you probably have the planer kev . Great video kev 👊🏽
Almost all these came from cutting the 12x12s (jacket boards) so no way to get the 8s cut well cutting the timbers. As for what's faster? I have no idea. If you could feed the jacket board through the edger right off the mill it would be faster.
Yes, we did all our edging on the mill. For small orders probably still faster doing it on the mill then setting up the edger but glad we do have it for those bigger ones now. The grapples we use are made by martatch. They work awesome and built tough.
This looks like an great find and will be very nice to have. I love the sound of an edger and McCoy would be proud of you two!🤠
Ya they sound pretty cool. Ya Mike would be happy to see the edger.

Ya I was pretty impressed with it the first time we used it. Going to be running it today too
Nice unit...
Haha why thank you!
Ok....now I really want one. Great video Kev!
Haha it is handy sandy. It' comes down to do you produce enough to justify.
I had no idea that such a tool existed. Looks like it works well too.
Ya most big sawmills have some sort of edger. Most are electric
LOOKIN' GOOD, THAT IS SURE GETTIN' 'ER DONE, KEEP SAFE...
It sure is! Have a great week Bob

A planer would be handy for the cedar we cut haha
Looks like it works great you gave that slab bunk a beating lol 😂 nice logs on that truck at the end
Haha ya it takes abit of a beating. If we built another on we would put the up rights on a slight angle so they come out better.
Do you find this faster than rotating the cant on the sawmill to get the finished lumber sizes?

I have the same one about 20 years old with diesel engine. Spray some WD40 on the paint. It will bring back the color.
Will have to try the wd40 trick. Diesel has to be nice on there if you are doing 2 inch edging.
Love the logo
Are you painted it’s orange and blue kev , should them it will fix into your woodyard kev . 😊
Haha you are the 2nd to suggest that. It would look good and the paint would be way better
Did you edge on mill before you got the edger? What brand grapple you skidding with?

did you happen to buy the edger at a flea market in augusta ga?
It came from a mill that shut down. Not sure where they got it from.
@@SkidderKev thanks
They're a timesaving tool if you have enough volume to justify the expense. Have a great day
Ya need volume thats for sure. This was priced right for us.
The guys bitchin about your Stickering should have a video on their channel showing the proper way before bitchin.
Thanks Al! I always admire how you guys sticker. It always looks perfect!
We’ll now I need a sawmill and an edger 🤦♂️
Hahaha mills are handy to have Heath. Turn those firewood logs into more money!!
Gotta find me an edger.
It's pretty handy thats for.
