Love this with test cricket format. The drama of the chase has so much time to build and brew when you know that the only way to stop them is with outs. I like the urgency with the BIP format you've used, but this game is for people that aren't afraid to take their time.
Also cool to see Zo stepping up as a field general on defense. Putting that Warehouse experience to good use.
I love that “magic hole” has been swapped out for “gloryhole.”

Test cricket itself may be on the slide, but test format Ball In Play is not only watchable but very enjoyable.
It's a lot of travel, but I'd LOVE to see the backyard cricketers from other lands take part in this. Especially the WCG boys from New Zealand. It'd be hard...but seeing them take on the Jomboy team in a full international match?! Amazing.
Wild, that as an American who only got into cricket because of Jomboy, that test cricket is the only type that I can actually follow

Ball In Play is such a refreshing experience as a spectator! The big 5 sports I feel I have kinda been gone to autopilot while watching them because so much of the game is routine, but watching Cricket!? It's a whole new live-time puzzle top figure out and comprehend!

Love the Test format! Jolly good show! Test match format needs the total number of wickets on the graphic since there's unlimited overs. It allows the viewers to track the progression of the inning. Love you guys!

BPD can really bowl too! Impressive. It's awesome to see some of the less fancier pitches be better at BIP bowling, and how some of the ace BlitzBall pitchers underperform in BIP.
Really really like BIP. Looking forward to the league starting. Love the experimenting with more players-per-team too - Feels like the way the game is meant to be played, even if it's only a sometimes-thing.
Suggestion: Call this 7-man BIP "test matches" and call regulation BIP "League" or "One-Day" or "2-2(like 20-20)"
Other thoughts: Remind the bowlers to appeal to the umpire for LBW's/Batter-being-hit-by-a-pitch-that-would-have-gone-in-the-circle (best done by yelling: "how'sThattttt!?").
It's not only a really-fun thing from cricket to import over into BIP - But it would also remind the umpire/everyone how important that rule is - AND hopefully it'll mean less need for tech/replays. I really like the one warning rule for LBWs/hit-by-on-target-bowls though.
Ohh and yo!! Got to remember: Ducks (scoring 0 runs and getting out)!!! Golden ducks (getting out on the first ball you face)!!! & Hat-tricks (bowling out three batters in a game)!!! too.
Teach the team the lingo, jimmy! Would make the broadcast and player banter even more fun. It would be so fun to eventually see the broadcast and editors reflect those (ducks, etc) as key stats too, If you do a season three of BIP (I assume all of season 2 is in the recorded and edited).
A big part of what is great about blitzball is everyone using serious pro-baseball lingo during such a fun, friendly, game. It wouldn't take much to teach a couple of cricket phrases, to everyone, to achieve that same effect in BIP.
You're already great at knowing (and bantering about) some fielding positions (like 'silly point/mid-off') at the moment. But i think adding Ducks, LBW's, and Hat-Tricks to the lexicon would really add to the BIP atmosphere (and be fun for the players and therefore audience too).
The excitement in the crowd and commentary box when a bowler is "on a hattrick" (has bowled out two batters in a row - only needing one more for a hattrick or 'A Hatty') Is one of the most exciting things about cricket. It's a mini 'perfect game' and is very achievable in BIP in the warehouse. Jimmy nearly bowled a hattrick in this game! So just a missed opportunity that no one in commentary or on the feild called it out.
Cricket is all about the sledging, and the warehouse is known for it's banter - So it's a match made in heaven imo.
Anyway! These are just fun lil (hopefully easy to implement) ideas. I Love BIP as-it-is of course - And Slapball was absolutely brilliant too - The warehouse is on fire lately, guys.
BBD getting hot towards the end was great to see! Another good addition to the roster of formats

The glutton in me was hoping for a gruelling three hour game but I'll happily gobble up 52 minutes at least.
Fun spin and a good training exercise for the biggest glaring weakness of almost all of the BIP athletes - running between the wickets. Whiiiiichh... Still looks like a problem. Baseball brain is a tough one.
I can't decide if I love or hate the new wickets at the bowler's end, I was transfixed on them at times.

Such a good job at showing the difference in Test Cricket compared to limited overs. Dot balls kind of work in the favour of the batter, they can read what each bowler is going to do, the bowlers know they have to mix it up and bait them. Jimmy captained that team perfectly, that's a huge thing in Test Matches. The saying in Australia is the only job harder than the Prime Minister is the Test Cricket Captain, they call everything on the field for their team.

Dude was getting great curve on his bowling. Moved in the air more than anyone else, even the warehouse veterans. Keeping it under the speed limit too.
Pretty sure all of them were right on target to hit the circle, too. Promising stuff for the season! (edit:) Talk about an injury recovery!

Great format, great video. I was thinking that so many fielders in a small space would completely remove running, but I was wrong. There are absolutely gaps in the field. Finding those is such a fun skill to see.

The flattened barrel on the bat, bringing the strike zone forward and giving a run for hitting the bleachers are great changes to make. These should open up more of the field for the cricket players to exploit.

I prefer the plastic cricket wicket for non-hitting end.
[warning: spoilers] This video supports my previous statements that BIP should be more like a T20 format of cricket. The first innings went 9.1 overs in about 30 minutes, which means that 10 overs can go about 35 minutes. I would totally support a "T10" format here for BIP. 10 overs, 7 players per team, one innings for the team that strikes and then one innings for the team that chases and that's it, they don't get another chance to strike. If in the first innings the 7 wickets are achieved before the end of 10 overs, then the second innings is shortened to the number of overs it took in the first innings. This would make an episode with a maximum of about 70 to 75 minutes and could be shorter if the striking team loses all of their batsmen in the first innings. The second innings went for 8.1 overs and the total length of the video was just under 53 minutes. This game is the perfect test case for a T10 league in the Warehouse.
T10 would be an excellent format!

I like the idea of this better. The innings felt lacking sometimes in the other versions, even though there were still great games. But this is real nice.
Finally catching up on this and I am just amazed at how nail biting this turned out to be. Also, did poor Lou curse the BIP gods to always get stranded like that?
I’d love to see one rule added to keep teams from stalling/playing too passively: if the batting team goes an entire over without any outs or runs, the batter at the end of the over is out.
I wouldn’t mind this rule for training, but it goes against the spirit of the game, especially in this longer “Test” format, where physical and mental endurance and long-term strategies are a feature of the game.

Heartbreaking debut for zack
Tactically, it was the correct decision. However, with a 30+ run lead, I wish Zack would have gotten the chance to pitch since it was his first (broadcasted) game and he only faced one pitch before getting out. If you're gonna put him in the game, let him play.
Yeah hope to see him get another shot. Can't expect him to ace it in his first match.
