Remember the old green slogan "Act local, think global"? Years ago I read some reports that said just 1 of those huge tanker/cargo ships used more fossil fuel per year than the entire global fleet of aircraft in 1 year.
That has always been a problem for me - importing oil = the same amount of carbon being burned ! So why not give our own people a job & why not set up a refinery in Scotland - cheaper, more jobs again and local - instead of closing the likes of Grangemouth refinery.
The transportation of fuel isn't safe. During the past week Inverness train station, Eastgate shopping centre and part of the town centre had to be evacuated as there was a LPG leak from a tank brought up by train.
You need at least two things: 1. You can not conceive the complex of dependences of the world you live in and 2. Your humility is significantly below your aptitude.
The natural environment is now way down on the agenda with that lot. Its now all about dishing out puberty blockers and destroying jobs/the economy.
