As a kid I was in shock. Even if it's just the 10th episode it felt like a long time to me, well to be fair it was almost 3 months of TV so when you are 7 it feels like ages. It was one of the only things I remembered from the show 2 decades after. Even as a kid I saw how formulaic the show was but this kind of drama added a lot to it, breaking the mold and adding some stakes, now I realise it is all because the actress left all of a sudden but still I think it beneficied the series as a whole.

We may never know what happened behind the scenes or why she left. It could had been for pay reasons, her not getting along with the cast, or she could had just changed her mind and wanted to leave. What's even weirder was that the actress was practically never seen or heard from again afterwards. So she could had just gone to early retirement or had health reasons and had to leave. According to her wiki page on the Japanese version, she's at least still alive as of now so the actress is not dead yet. Just seemed to vanished from the public after she left the series or was fired.

I just hope she is okay to be honest. Crazy to think she probably forgot about doing this job or has no idea how some people still talk about her performances decades after.

Well, adding drama is not bad, for real it's one of the few sentai series that felt like there was stakes because of this. At least as a kid it felt that way to me.
