I was kinda pissed when Tommy lost the Green Ranger Powers...
...Burai's death is too HARD to watch, even for me.
Zyuranger is incredibly DARK and often Depressing as hell. The Ending is even heartbreaking.
In the Japanese version the character dies
In the American version the actor dies
Rest in power JDF 💚
My best friend died in January, and he left me his Guitar. Music was something we shared together and it was a prized possession of his. So watching Burai give him the dagger and his armor is exactly how i felt. I love you Dave and i miss you so much.
sorry for your lost TJ Hooker. I know how it feels like losing a friend or a family member
Friendships like that are rare now. He must've been one hell of a friend
How strange that in the Zyuranger series Burai passed away but in real life Shirl Izumi lives on and in the Power Ranger series Tommy lives on but in real life Jason David Frank passed away.
@@JiterdomerFor real…It’s hard going back to watch those episodes😢
Sorta odd yes looking at power rangers part of trini and tommy are kinda still with us since shiro izumi and takumi hasimoto are still with is and they were the omes in the fighting scenes of power rangers
JDF killed himself, the green candle killed Burai. That's the difference.
Both deaths were equally tragic in their own rights… (Also, I hate to break the melancholy, but you wrote Shiro’s name wrong.)
What’s makes this even more sad is that even the Dragon Caesar was mourning over Burai’s death 😢
That's not the sad part, the sad part is that after all the years of hating Geki, he finally makes up with him, and then dies
@@Mommy_Makima20 agreed on both comments. The fact that his guardian beast was even mourning his death made this powerful. But I must admit the whole story leading up to it also made it powerful as well.
I can understand why here in the United States, they had to tone the green ranger story down. You imagine if they would’ve done this on mighty Morphin?! They were practically called for the show to be banned here in the states!
@@Mommy_Makima20 I’m focusing on this particular death. I am very aware there were others in the series as well. They were going to actually do the Eric death in Power Rangers Tom force but backed off of it at the last minute. I kind of think it was due to the fact that Power Rangers got bought out by Disney at the time though as well.
Dragon Caesar actually struggles a LOT after Burai's death. When the other beasts are content with their own rangers, it is alone and goes into major depression. It takes a bit of a struggle but Geki manages to reconsile with Dragon Caesar that he is now playing his flute will accepts care of him.
I know this is JDF’s Japanese counterpart but this scene hurts so bad knowing what has happened in the last 24 hours.
@@KaosxcaJason David Frank who portrayed Tommy Oliver from Power Rangers committed suicide.
@@taycarroll1124He committed suicide after his argument with his wife Tammie in a verge of divorce at the hotel. They separated their hotel rooms each other.
I’m here because this shit hits different now that Jason Davis frank has passed.
Hits different now that Burai’s American counterpart has passed away 😔
Not Passed worse he killed himself due to mental struggle especially
all he did was make things worse that month after loosing Kevin Conroy the voice of Batman😔
@@Jiterdomer I really wanted them to adapt lupinranger vs patranger
Imagine if Power Rangers actually killed Tommy off. That would’ve caused so many crying children that it would’ve rivaled the Death of Optimus Prime.
Luckily for me I just stick to the Disney era shows for now on like Dino Thunder for example because Tommy was cooler in brachio black than dragon green in my unpopular opinion.
@@roast-thekamenrider8591 dude…too soon.
I just learned about it today, It’s a tragic loss. He was an icon in Power Rangers.
This was a sad moment but pretty heroic in a way since they brought Buria the water when he was dying which would’ve saved him but he told Geki to give it to the dying boy as he also handed him his shield armor and flute just before he died. It would’ve been a VERY sad moment if the boy died. Buria just couldn’t stop dreaming about that.
Moments in that same episode before it got to Burai's death, when Goushi and Dan retrieved the water, they had to fight off the Knight that was guarding it. It turned out to be Clotho, the white ghost girl. She explained that even if Burai did drink the water, it still couldn't save him because he had already died once. He was only brought back for a limited timespan just so Dragon Caesar (Dragonzord) and King Bracchion (Titanus) would be back to help the Zyurangers defeat Bandora. Don't know if Burai was aware of the water not working on him or not, but still told them to give it to the boy. Don't know if you knew that part or not.
Burai died because his Powers were already tied with Gouki(Satan). The Dragon Green Powers(Ryu No Midori) were his Lifeforce. The Green Candle basically literally DRAINED his life.
@@agoogleuser1035 Oh yeah she did. I own Zyuranger on DVD it’s just been a while since I’ve watched it all. Even though Buria was bound to die eventually, I still find this an emotional scene, however thankfully he appeared one last time in the last two episodes where they had to go find the Guardian Beasts, especially Dragon Caesar and King Brachion.
Fans in Japan voted for him to live, but Toei killed him off anyway
According to the series' main writer, Noboru Suginuma (or was the director whose name i can't remember right now or Bandai execs, dunno), he wanted to give children a lesson about death being merciless and dreams and ideals being useless against the grim reaper.
More like, be brought back. He was brought back for a few seconds as a ghost, to open the door to the dimension where the mechas ("zords") were kept when Bandora ("Rita") had captured them.
RIP Jason David Frank.
At least Burai was able to redeem himself.
Losing Jason David Frank in real life feels just like this, we all miss him so much
Meanwhile, in an alternate timeline, Jason and Tommy both feel chills for no discernible reason.
Tommy: hey jason
Jason:yeah
Tommy: you've always been like a brother to me, I hope you know that
Jason:thanks Tommy, I feel the same way, even though you no longer have your dragon zord powers, it was great to have you
Tommy: yeah, and did you get a strange feeling when the green ranger power disappeared
Jason:yeah, like it wasn't just the power that was gone, but also another person had died
Tommy: oh well, it probably doesn't matter much anyway.
Poor Geki. He must have a harder time than Jason.
Pobre geki perdió a su hermano mayor burai el dragón Ranger por qué la vela se apagó por completo
If Geki had a hard time, Dragon "Shiza" (the Dragonzord) had it worse.
R.I.P. Jason David Frank (Tommy Oliver)
Just imagine if they ever decided to kill off Tommy.
every 90s kid would be bawling.
2022 Anyone who's after Jason David Frank passed away RIP AKA Tommy the Green Ranger and The White Ranger
I know that this ISN'T JDF or Tommy, but damn if this doesn't hit home in light of recent events.
One of the saddest moments in this awesome show and also r.i.p Jason David Frank aka Tommy Oliver may the power protect you in heaven.
Now his American counterpart has passed as well.
R.I.P. Jason David Frank! 😭
So sad now JDF and shiro Izumi(burai) the 2 green rangers will never get to meet
In Zyuranger, the Green Candle represents Dragon Ranger's Life, unlike Mighty Morphin which is the Green Ranger's Powers connected to his power coin. (Also, R.I.P. JDF...)
This is the reason why Tommy lost his Green Ranger powers in the MMPR version of this. American shows are a lot more stricter when it comes to violence and death on kid shows, so Saban just simply made Jason David Frank's character retire and give up his powers. He actually wasn't supposed to come back, Brad Hawkins from VR Troopers was going to replace JDF as the White Ranger but the Green Ranger was too popular with the kids, so they brought Tommy back.
the Federal communications commison or FCC Japan in some ways lacks an FCC so they could get away with more
Right. So instead of JDF taking the lead in VR Troopers, they switched the actors and allowed JDF to become the white ranger. The white ranger and the thunderzords are from an entirely different series. Brad went on to VR Troopers.
Didn't even notice until near the end that there weren't any subtitles. The emotion in their faces said it all.
This folks is why there were so few episodes featuring the Green Ranger and why in so many episodes he was busy, or not with the others or "losing his powers". Here he straight up died so they only had so much footage to work with, aside from creating their own. For some reason though even all the way up to Super Megaforce they were never able to get the Green Ranger shield right.
This and because Burai only came out of the Lapseless Room when he absolutely had to.
@@danmccarthy4700 Yep. In Zyuranger he would often only appear mid battle as the Zyurangers were struggling. In fact they actually portrayed his entering the battle differently than in Power Rangers. The Zyurangers would be losing then all of a sudden you would start to hear the Zyusouken flute playing the famous tune. Then Burai would appear. I think if Power Rangers had kept this style of Green Ranger entering the battle he would have been even more popular.
now his American counterpart JDF passed away 😢
We all cried when he died and this scene was almost the same emotional pain.
The Japanese character dies, while the US actor dies.
Sad about JDFs passing but it’s beautiful that Burai’s actor paid his respects to JDF
@@NightwolfZx Well, how sweet and honorable of him. Never knew Sentai actors acknowledge their Power Ranger counterparts.
R.I.P., Jason David Frank. This scene hits harder now.
I believe that the Power Rangers series would be much better if they were to show all of the things that they show in the Super Sentai (well, not everything, of course). People need to be shown that their heroes aren't completely invincible and that there has to be some loss. But, because of the different standards of America and Japan, it may not happen...
Yeah because Saban had to tone down the violence so it won't be frightening to kids. Super Sentai is for young adults.
+Q. McHale Trust me Haim Saban wanted to kill of Tommy to show kids that life sucks and even heroes die. The thing that stopped him was that Tommy became so popular he didn't want to derail the show.
Trust me, Super Sentai is just as much a kid's show as Power Rangers. It may be darker, but that's just because standards of what can be shown on a kid's show are different between America and Japan, especially in the 90's.
More like he didn't want to risk pissing parents and by extension Fox off by showing a human death in a kids' show.
Tyranno ranger:goodbye brother
Red mighty morphin ranger:goodbye old friend
Basically....i felt like they did when i heard about JDF. This clip is an even sadder scene now. This all stinks....😢
The fiction has caught up to reality.
1) Body was crushed while still in stasis by a cave in.
2) Clothos (guy in this vid in white coat) revived his life force.
3) When revived during the series, his life force, due to the above, was tied to a candle which would not burn down as long as he stayed in a certain room.
4) Once Bandora found out she destroyed said room.
This is shocking. I really really enjoyed MMPR when I was a kid in the 90s, but if they would have made the Western version this EPIC, I can't even think of the many possibilities. Death is part of life. That's a great teaching if you think about it.
I actually drop a tear every time I watch this.
It is so sad.
I'm not lying, I'm always about to cry whenever I watch this.
Now it hurts for real knowing about JDF! 😭
Every time I see this scene, it reminds me of Jason David Frank who was Tommy Oliver, Burai’s counterpart. 🟢
When I got to this part in the show, it made me sad as hell. I didn’t know he died in the show.
Even tho the Japanese' acting is overly dramatic, this was so hard to take. So sad. :'(
RIP JDF
See, Hasbro? This is how you kill off a character correctly: YOU NEED TO HAVE AN ACTUAL BUILDUP TO IT!!
Looking at you, Optimus Prime. May you rest in peace…
The American version made me believe that the Power Rangers couldn't ever die in battle. They just lose their powers or their power coins and retreat back to Zordon.
Even though it is towards the end, it takes guts to kill off your best character while still having a ways to go.
Both Sentai and Power Rangers are great in their own way.

I thought the green candle was said but burai suffered a much worse fate
My grandpa died last year and he left me his favorite pocket knife so I know how geki feels
RIP DRAGON RANGER you legend
So here, the green ranger would die here as to where Tommy would just lose his powers when the green candle burnt out?
yeah. burai (green ranger) had already died before, but was only brought back for a limited time to call upon dragon caeser (dragonzord). so his life force literally was the candle.
with power rangers being targeted for kids, having tommy die wouldn’t have slid with the kids and the soccer moms and all. so that’s why they did the story with Tommy’s powers being drained by the candle.
In loving memory of Jason David Frank (September 4 1973-November 19 2022) R.I.P. Once a Ranger, Always a Ranger. May the Power protect you always and forever.
If I were to reboot Power Rangers myself, I will honour this by giving Tommy an arc with real emotional poignancy. Rather than dying per say, he ALMOST dies because in my version, the Green Ranger Powers can only work properly if the wilder fully embraces evil. After turning to the good side, the power slowly kills him every time he morphs, hence, he has to seek out another power source before time runs out.
Eventually, Jason ends up mysteriously disappearing. Tommy, although reluctant at first needs to learn to fill in his friend’s shoes as leader as per a request Jason made beforehand. In the original canon, we all are aware that Tommy started out wearing Green, later White and eventually Red. In my version however, he goes straight from Green to Red and pilots The Legendary Star Dragon (AKA The Red Dragon Thunderzord).
Tommy was never a good leader in MM heck he gets worst in Zeo and zones out in turbo. When you consider all the things that Tommy causes on his call it's questionable that he was even given the red zeo crystal.
@@yamadiyoo9658 it literally became the tommy show when he became leader.
"Geki, protect the children and the earth, until the very end"
So sad!
Thats why I think sentai is much bettter han power rangers they actually killed of characters and there was no continuity errors
not to forget legend war was actually good in sentai, while here it was absolute trash
mikey kean just because they killed characters doesn't make it good. Besides, power rangers killed characters too. And in super Sentai, there's plenty of continuity errors.
power rangers was better way better then sentai cus I grew up in japan and they killed half the teamin almost every series it was annoying plus ever 6th ranger always ended up dying before the season was over the amercian version is so much better
mikey kean Why would you want characters to be killed off?? That’s just stupid!
Burai : Mr Stark I don't feel so good...
Tommy : NANI?!!
As a MMPR fan as a kid I really want to see this now. Heard about it and it sounds really good.
@Tenkuuken Burai's preserved lifeforce is contained in a candle. When he leaves the chamber to help the Zyuzangers, the candle starts melting. Bandora eventually found this out and destroyed the room and candle burnt out.
RIP Jason David Frank
Now there no way for sentai and power rangers to call upon the green ranger
Attention SentaiWankers:
The reason Tommy didn't die is that unlike with Zyuranger, Power Rangers couldn't afford to kill off its dark horse character. Zyuranger had the momentum of 15 shows before it to coast on, Power Rangers was starting from scratch. They needed him alive, to keep viewers hoping for more. Thus, Tommy was merely depowered by the candle. While not as tragic as a death, it was still a huge blow to the team, and handled with an appropriate level of drama and emotion.
ZeldaTheSwordsman You know, Timefire and Abarekiller PR versions didn't die either despite Power Rangers being anything but new by the time Time Force and Dino Thunder aired.
The reason why Abarekiller came back during Dekaranger vs Abaranger was because Saunaginnan accidentally overused his resurrection power that it revived and brought back Abarekiller instead. The revival effect was only temporary though (since it fades off as they destroyed Saunaginnan) and Abarekiller eventually went back to the afterlife for good at the end of the movie.
wow now the red ranger can control both zords with armor sucks that his brother died but kinda worth it
but its a good thing that the only thing that died when tommy was the green ranger was his powers not himself along with it even tho the green ranger is pure evil and feeds off of evil its self but tommy then became the great cosmic white ranger which was pretty cool
With Tommy, when this happens, the green ranger powers were just temporarily transferred to Jason,in one episode where the rangers give up their power coins and Tommy returns to Angel Grove,Zordon makes a way for Tommy to become the green ranger again, and he battled some monster alone and got the rest of the power coins back.
It sucks because Burai is my favorite zyuranger
This was too sad, man I still can't stop crying, Burai was one of my favorite Sentai Warrior ever.
I wander what's the name of the track in minute 1:46
Rouki 狼鬼 2574 liked his character too love dinosaur squad zyuranger it's my favorite sentai huge sentai fan😊
Burai says in his final words that when Goushi (Black Ranger) and Dan (Blue Ranger) return with the water of life for him, they should give it to a little boy who is suffering a death instead of him.
E assim mesmo quando perdemos quem amamos de verdade
I believe all the dead sentai warriors during the Great War were generally replacement members, assuming all the teams continued fighting even after the end of their series. During the scene where Gai first got his Gokaisilver power, three of the dead 6th members appeared to him, implying that the three of them are now staying in the afterlife. Then there's also that episode where Yuuki Gai (Black Condor) apparently could still transform despite his Ranger Key was in the Gokaiger's possession.
It does reminds me of Tommy’s attempt of rescue the power coins
From what I understand, the actor who played Burai left the show on his own accord, leading the show's creators to kill him off. Odd, since he returns in the final episodes and there were only about 8 more episodes left.
love this show
There is no possible way I can best the top comments. However, I will say this: Just goes to show you that Japan will always be 500 steps ahead when it comes to good TV.

I still have yet to see Jetman. And I've heard nothing but amazing things about it. At least now that episode in Gokaiger (Wings Forever) makes more sense as to why Yuki Gai/Black Condor is dead. Also sucks that Ikari Gai/Gokai Silver couldn't see him at all.
pobre geki el tyrano ranger esta muy triste por que murio su hermano mayor burai el dragón ranger por que el cirio verde fue consumado
Until always first sixth sentai. You will always be in my heart
All this stuff about MMPR or any redubbed american PR is out of the question because the original Japanese Zyuranger is much much better.
This scene is so sad.
Burai was the true Green Ranger. Anything Saban attempted to recreate into his MMPR was sh*tty & extremely cheap. MMPR seemed so fake to even begin with. The cut scenes were awful, there was no energy at all in the actors & the action sequences were a straight up rip off off of the original Japanese footage.
Cheating is bad enough, but recreating a poor piss off job out of something that could've easily been decent is ludicrous.
It's in fact come to the point that I criticize the american version for everything it failed to deliver. Because quite obviously the original has all the aspects of its kind.
There are seasons in PR that are better than their Sentai counterparts. MMPR is not one of them though, as Zyuranger, Dairanger and Kakuranger are far better than the three MMPR seasons we had
I usually look at these old scenes in a bad way, because they don't impress me because of the poor and really fake effects, but hey this scene is a master piece I don't understand a single word, but I see the actor really get to express the emotions, I feel the sadness, the drama, the candle, the agony, everything is just perfect what a masterpiece.
I’m not crying, you’re crying
No not the green ranger that died but in power rangers the green ranger became the white ranger. Awesome video
Thank god Tommy never died. Badass ranger! Sure the MIGHTY MORPHIN GREEN RANGER was finished anyway, but never Tommy!
The power rangers are more children, while in japan things are more real uncensored, life is not rosy, is more real, in this version
***** Bandora can at least handle her own against Burai, Rita just had stupid schemes "So the power punks are having a bake sale eh? well i'll give them taste of my own baking! cupcakes filled with artificial flavors and high in sugar! ahahhahaa!"
bassgasmask Actually, Burai basically punked Bandora and tried to take the world for himself in the Zyuranger version of the Green Ranger arc. She tried to stop him (it was really all she could do to get him out of her palace), but he pretty much one-upped her anyway with Dragon Caesar. Geki was the one that had to eventually get through to him, but it still wasn't easy.
Ketorulz Tommy is nothing to burai. In fact Burai is so Strong he can beat Tommy without Transformation
Poor geki...:( lost is own brother and see him die in front of his eyes..... That the most hurting think for Geki...... RIP burai the most stronger and badass sentai I ever see ( exept aka red but that another story ^^)
In Power Rangers I wish Jason and Tommy were brothers
@Berkay Kaya also jason and zack got tommy's dragon daga and dragon sheld so as kimbely(cómic only)
@Berkay Kaya well if tommy died originally the white ranger will never existed
@KBM515 lord zedd take his powers away
Tommy returned as the white ranger
It's even more sad because he goes across the river styx and doesn't go to heaven like the others at the end.
This is why I love the Japanese version better!
It taught me the meaning of tears, and sacrifice for what you believe in.
his life was already limited to begin with, his life relied on his tomb, when his tomb was destroyed, Geki would only have 30 hours of his life left of him.
As a Japanese bandora killed the green ranger as a payback the red ranger bandora son payback is a bitch
The death of Burai itself wasn't that sad, but what really got me tearing up was the episode after this one, where Dragon Caesar, consumed with grief over his dead master hears a sad flute song, looks over to see Burai running over to him... but it's really Geki. Dragon Caesar's reaction to seeing Geki instead of his master was really heartbreaking.
vampman87 can't blame dragon Caesar for this every guradian beast has their owner including dragon Caesar they partner up with them and creating a special bind with them if one of them die and take charge by a second partner everything has to start over and takes a lot of time
It made me cry so hard.
Burais death was sad for me I love the zyurangers cant believe I never really knew about them till I was older even growing up with power rangers
