this is probably the best vocal performance of this song ive ever heard from Sharon, but it just makes me sad that after the Mother Earth album, this band just seemed to lose their shine.
Songs like Mother Earth and Ice Queen are what set Within Temptation apart, but these days with the last 2 albums, i dunno, i guess there just like 90% of the other bands in this genre, even Sharons distincive vocals have been dimmed down to a gereric female rock vocal, nothing unique, just mediocre.
This version of Mother Earth is different from the others, for the instrumental part.
But really cool to ! Sharon you're the best !!!
actually, until today, i never thought i would say something like this: but on the videos she isn't THAT beautiful anymore once you've seen her live. on stage seen from close up she is simply breathtakingly beautiful!!!!

@Adrytl no, ur totally right, they should evolve and move on but i just feel theyve lost a lot of their old musical essence in the process. Dont get me wrong, i do really like these guys,theyre great musicians and seem to be lovely people. I just miss the times when they were more about the mystical themes and the music was easier to escape into. Its just my opinion that the last album in particular was just quite bland and straightforward, There were a few gems on it i liked like Iron though :)
I dont like the new outfits she wears...they are so ungothic....but seeing the pregnancy, I say what the hey... it is not easy nor advisable to wear the corset at this time.... I hope she reverses back to her beautiful 18th century dresses when she has the baby.... and all these strass in her outfits....is weird...but I LOVE her nonetheless....
@1paulb30 I personally hate seeing this because they are just SO commercial now; a lot of fans, although they love this band, (and I really do), might see what they are doing now as selling out to get a wider audience and more money when they really really don't need to. Just my opinion ;D
@sasxpapxofficial they are real, so you don't like that they change up the style all the time, that's who they are stop begrudging an artist room to grow, if you were a real fan you would accept that they THEMSELVES said the heart of everything is their favorite cd and move on.

@archsagejulz To be honest with you, I think she's way more sexier in her splendid long robes, and the makeup assorted... Well she's pretty much like all those new pop singers out there, being sexy and all. She's beyond that, her voice and her stage presence being awesome.

Also her voice is developed incredibly since the Mother Earth album. When I first heard her years ago my instant thought was that if she was not so beautiful she would not be nothing but a lousy singer. She's not Tarja Turunen and she should not be, but it great to hear her progress for she shows that singing can be learned by adults, too. It is not just a gift, but a result of learning and training.
You must realize this is a concert not only for gothic-metal music. Probably like 5% (or even less) of the people there listen to metal, the rest probably is there for other music and bands or w/e reason. The guy @ 2:12 definitely isn't a metalhead, which explains the way he headbangs (a couple of beers might also have affected his headbanging :P)
@Eowyinn I cant desripe it. on the music videos and some videos on youtube shes not looking THAT good than she does. but i saw them a few days ago and her smile and her beauty is just amazing. She gave me a feel good feeling :D
@amaranthus1988 Very True! The Unforgiving Album is exremely different from the rest of their songs. The older ones were more symphonic. (
