Male dobsonfly. The large mandibles are the giveaway. Females have smaller mouthparts, but can bite if cornered. They're not aggressive at all though. They live most of their lives in water, and require pristine water. So if you see them, it's a good sign that nearby bodies of water aren't polluted!
I hate big bugs too But I’m from the Netherlands 😂 Biggest I saw here was a deathskull moth something and my cat brought it as a trophy for me I thought it was a bird, Then he let it go and saw what it was and how big it was😅 The sound what it make by his flapping wings was very loud First time I saw one of those and was very like WOW damn that’s a f.kkin big bug Then my cat chased it and got it and killed it😢
Thats a dobsonfly. They are scary looking, but harmless. They cant break skin. Their larvae are named "hellgramites" and also look like living nightmares. This is a male, the females look way worse lol
Imagine a guy named Dobson and John H. Cumstock finding this ugly-Aah thing together, and then Dobson losing the coin toss to have it named after him...😅
