No, they need to bring back good old John Williams The Mission, and dump that old piece of crap music they have for the Today Show nowadays! If they can do something like that, I will be so happy! For real!!!! 😇😇😇😇
Billy Paul They only play this theme if they're doing a anniversary show. They actually played it when Bryant Gumbel and Jane Pauley came back a few years ago. But this is a great theme. It's better than John Williams' theme which is good but better suited for the Nightly News. This is more laid back.
Suffice it to say, "The Today Show" on NBC has paved the way for not only "Good Morning America" on ABC, but also "CBS This Morning" on CBS! And who can blame that 65-year-old morning show?! I sure as hell wouldn't! So here's to "The Today Show" for bringing America 65 years of news, weather, and informative entertainment anybody waking up around 7am can ask for!
Actually An episode of The Morning Exchange from WEWS TV Clevelad served as the pilot and inspiration for Good Morning America.. Bill Baker and Don Parris worked at WEWS-TV and created The Morning Exchange and Good Morning America.
Ah yes I'm walking down to my Park Avenue appartment in Manhattan on a late Friday afternoon in September of 1982 after a long day as VP of a banking firm, and am about to host friends for cocktails and hors'doeuvres....that's the vibe I got from this song
@@GrandGame1440 Sort of...they brought it back in daily use in Jan 93, then a few months later had an updated version commissioned, but still used the original for some cues. When they moved to the streetside studio it was retired again.
If this ain't the most 80s thing out there. I love it.
Better than the junk they're playing nowadays
This theme the best, it has that good morning classy feeling to it, they should bring it back it might make it a better show again!
If they dumped Matt lauer
+vintagehaynesflute True that.

Adam B. Smith Yeah, true that. But what year you were born when this theme of the today show came out?
This theme puts a smile on your face! 👊😊👊

Thanks for pointing that out with me!
ThisGuy Here. No problem I love broadcasting history lol
So, ThisGuy, how long have you been writing press releases for NBC?
@@ApartmentKing66 I haven't! I know it by heart and by fact!

So cool...
I love this version of this instrumental.
No doubt inspired by Stan Zabka's "Chimes".
I know of his son, he is a member of Cobra Kai. I grew up on Stanley’s chimes.
Definitely has that early 1980s Sesame Street vibe.
@Christopher Sheppard Agreed
1:53, Good theme💯
Elevator music that is heard in elevators on NBC 30 Rockefeller Plaza in New York City.
Don't forget to get your refreshments at the NBC Commissary. :)
OMG really?! Literally?!
Nostalgia.
I wish this was on the Billboard Hot 100 in 1983.
Jane's hairdo sure was!
Now here's some on hold/ elevator music. 😁☕
Excellent, excellent!!!!!!!!!!!!good times good people!!!!😊; today nothing but shit😢

His name is Garry Trudeau, who’s famous for the “Doonesbury” comic strip
I feel like they should play is on the part where Hoda does her Morning Boost
You'll lose it.
Actually closing theme from 1981 through 2005, I guess because I saw the closing from January 3, 1997
No, it wasn’t. This was retired in 1985 and they use it for anniversary shows now.

I like the one from the late 70s better... anyone else couldn't stand Gumbel? remember how he always turns his nose up at something made with cheese
Prefer this theme to the bombastic/dramatic theme the mission.
They should have used it while filming the FAREWELL MR. HOOPER episode of Sesame Street, and during six other films in the 2010s.
😂What's green and arrogant? Bryant Gumby!!!😂😂‼️
