I purchase lots from cex auctions that are apparently dead to then go inside the console or controller and find it to be something really simple. Difference between most of us who repair and cex is we have done 100s if not 1000s and know the ins and outs of what we are working on. Lovely video as usual and as for the Ps5 I expect to have that in for repair before the xbox
I know cex well. There was a point when I found hdmi ports glued in place.. I'm glad to see they bought themselves a hot air station at last :) Your right when you say their volume of repairs means they dont go into diagnostics too much. If something isn't an easy fix then they will BER it with a random excuse. I was actually, almost impressed with their work until you started wiggling. Great video as always.
Andrew..You never cease to amaze. I've learned so much from you over the years, and you're still teaching me.. Don't quit. Class is still in session for a lot of us.. please check your email..I have a ps4 from hell I need help with
You may have to reball or reflow your APU chip and you can't do that with a hot air gun. Also, you may have to do that with the RAM chips. Problem is even if you do all that, there is a connection on the inside of the APU that needs to connect to the substrate. If that doesn't go back in place then just get a new motherboard thats not marked as BLOD (blue light of death). That's when the system beeps and the blue light flashes then the system cuts off. It's the only repair I can't do lol. What is the problem that you need help with?
27:09, I'm loving every minute of this video I wish to learn more. Thank you so much for your advice and wisdom. I'm excited to be honest for both consoles, Andrew again thank you for the video, it was amazing.
g`day andrew looking forward to the world unveiling of the inside of a PS5 not that i want one just interested in whats inside and how its laid out how to dismantle it ..also your new procedure patient it protect yourself and i hope you make a billion $... love ya work mate great video you have given me confidence to open and take a look at my dvd recorder twin tuner with a hdd to see why i don't get any digital tv stations before i send it off for repair the signal strength is good but 0 quality = no stations i am hoping its a simple but will probably go into the shop in the end as i am schultz i know nothing lol once again i am looking forward to your PS 5 dismantle and inspection video cheers james D
Nice repair Andrew 👍️ IMHO many of these companies don't want to spend any time at all on diagnosis, they'd rather just hit the quick obvious fixes. However in this case a couple of bad solder joints and fuse as you showed wouldn't have cost them that much time. Oh well, their loss aye 🙂 Cheers John
Another great video Andy. Would like to see a video on basic trouble shooting with your knowledge. I'd happily donate/pay for a trouble shooting video. My soldering and hot air work isn't to bad but my trouble shooting is poor.
I have a board here that has the same fuse blown! Is there anywhere i can buy these without the need to come off a donor board(cause i dont have one), its my old ps4 been lying in a cupboard for 2 years! It would be nice if it was that simple!
I'm waiting for the ps5. Fixed a ps4 slim by replacing the hard drive. I think I'll scan the other drive for bad sectors and reformat as fat32 if I can. I'm doing that with a fat ps3.
Much respect as always mate. It's a nice video bro, you got more love from many console techs in Africa, you are more popular than you know lol.. However, have you ever come across the error SU-39176-6, i got two boards here stuck on that error (pops up while trying to update in safemode and all effort to fix prove unsuccessful. have you ever seen it or fixed it bro? a response would be greatly appreciated man. thanks
Hope all is well haven’t seen you pumping out any videos must be busy too with the game consuls here you can’t even buy them in the stores are sold out so people actually are having them repaired
Hello Andrew, great video as always. I have another question, if you, or anybody else is willing to answer. Xbox One S, powers on with chime, after 1-2 seconds powers off also with chime. I have noticed that fan does not spin at all, not even typical quarter spin, when connecting console to power. Checked with another fan, nothing changed. I have checked voltages on Fan connector. Going from pin closest to front edge of motherboard, 0v, 12v, 2.85v, 0v.) Console does not send PWM signal? What is responsible for that? Also I have noticed that console needs to “charge” for 10seconds after plugging it in to power, before it is possible to try to power it on. Would appreciate any answer. Thanks!
I'd like your advice. I fixed a customers broken hdmi port a d a week later after repair they broke it again. How should I charge them. Same price? Discount? Or free?
That's because it's not in house they have to send it away so the price is not bad tbh but the wait time is horrible. Always same day usually within the hour. Takes longer to take everything apart and clean it all then it does to do the job itself

Andy you found anywhere to get these fuses as I have no more left as I'm always replacing them from donor boards.
Has anyone used this repair service? I would like to hear some customer feedback.
Hey !! Hi Andy 🙂 nice to see you 👍
Did CEX even open this up? If so, how did they miss a blown fuse? Good fix BTW, nice and easy.

Very bad form by CES. I'm glad the customer decided to let you take a look. Well done.
You not heard that the PS5 won't have bog-standard thermal paste, it's got some liquid metal t-1000 cooling according to the PS channels
can you do a video on how you would go about resoldering a power switch on the xbox one pcb board.
Hi can you recommend where I can get Panasonic chip for my HDMI from? Thanks Phil
yay!!! new video!! Love it!
I have a device that I want to repair, how do I send it?

Using the fresh install and not just the update file?
This video made my day. Hope ur keeping well Andrew.
I am mate, thank you. :)
Lazy CEX! Seems about right. I don't like them. Welcome back pal ;)
King at work
brilliant video. CEX in my opinion are not a good company - they overcharge on everything.
Keep it up bro
Hope all is well haven’t seen you pumping out any videos must be busy too with the game consuls here you can’t even buy them in the stores are sold out so people actually are having them repaired
well done buddy
Been a while Andrew, hope you're well sir
I am mate, thank you :)

It’s probably had it mate.

In what manner did it break?
@@AndrewPaul i haven't opened it but its definitely loss. Before it was a strong connection. Now the pins are fin but it wiggles up and down.
I inspected it and for sure looks like it can pivoted. I think I didn't put enough solder on the top side ground pins.
@@DjSerolmp plenty practice
You help me lots bro
Would you say cex is a good option to send a ps4 for hdmi repair.
No. They don't do a proper job. They do a quick lazy budge job.
As far as I know they farm the work out a friend does their phones well the local one lol
CEX can't do, so they say that, then customer takes to some like me or you and we simple fix it for a fair price...
Cex is crap. They charge £60 for ps4 hdmi port only and takes 7 to 14 days.
I fix all ps4 issues for my trader customers next day service.
That's because it's not in house they have to send it away so the price is not bad tbh but the wait time is horrible. Always same day usually within the hour. Takes longer to take everything apart and clean it all then it does to do the job itself
That's because CEX haven't a clue what they are doing.
Cex, not a place I would ever take anything for repair.
Where are you located in the UK?)
West Yorkshire
