I'm an old fart (I was a teenager when the first wave of UK punk hit in 76/77) and this band are just fantastic. A real breath of fresh air and the best thing I've heard in years.
Many thanks for getting this interview. I've recently discovered The Fat White Family and have become curious as to what angle they're coming from and how they perceive what their doing and art in general. If Lias's testament is any indicator of the band at large then they'll be one of the groups I'll be obligated to mention whenever talking music/inspiration for the rest of my days.
Despite what everyone is saying, I kind of like the tension in the interview. This is one of the more entertaining ones I’ve watched. You just seem like an excited fan, I would be too, they rock!
It seems like you started panicking at one point and began asking so many questions at once! You should've just chilled it and let Lias finish his answers... Plus I agree with Lias on the fact that it's bullshit that musicians even at their standard don't get paid shit and don't get rewarded, it's a job and a hard one at that but they still have to live on coaches... Not cool.
I love the Fat White Family! One of my favorite bands! But did you know they went from an under attended show to playing with Lady Gaga in the same month!?!
+Timothy Pyles Their loss! I get so excited before a Fat White show. For days! One of the best live acts around at the moment. I'm in Scotland, every time they come to a bigger venue and it's a sell out. That door might be locked cos of the time I infiltrated them 'chilling' after playing at the o2 ABC. lol
+Timothy Pyles I get what you're saying -- a band with money can't generally make music this exciting because there's more to lose, and there's not usually the drive there to provide the urgency needed -- but you're basically telling Lias that his poverty keeps him in a place where you'd like him to stay for your own entertainment. That you'd rather have a spectacle to look at than see him be financially secure. And it seems like he's clearly trying to say that he's only doing this band because he doesn't feel like he has other work options, when he'd rather do something more important than performance art.
It was fine, i can tell you wanted to be “on a level” with him and even though it didn’t really work that well it was charming in a way. People in the comments are completely overreacting

I'm 60 ,I agree...they take me back to the 80s
This is hilarious, the perfect skit, overly zealous American and shifty English intellectual

Lias is so sincere. He's speaking his mind. He seemed quite annoyed by the interviewer.
Because the interviewer was a dick
I think the interviewer did a great job. He got him engaged and got honest answers.

you get it!
@@thelocalpyle Fucking 100%. Fan led media in general is 100 times more inciteful and interesting than the normal generic nonsense.
6:37 is the most fantastic line in any interview ever.
Tim ,good interview...Lias needs time to become who he will be
Adams so fucked lmao. Great interview!
Got a bit depressing at the end but that's reality huh
pretty odd to say that he likes that they were squatters, it's not really cool to be poor
He's going for the Joe Strummer vibe

Yours?
how does this interviewer turn every sentence into a cliche?
it's a gift, what can I say, I am that good...GFY
it just keeps getting more chaotic
that band invokes chaos...
This interviewer almost comes across as insulting. This is a perfect example of do your research before talking to someone as precious as Lias. Jesus.
Thanks for watching, sucker!
...the European cannon is here, yes it's here....
you know he was joking when he said it's due to guns and tips that people are nice?
it was all a joke! On you!
he wasn't
Top band !!
+Lawrence Cox One of my favorites for sure!
if i didn't want them to succeed why would I play them on the radio and interview him! he was really bummed more people weren't at the show as was I..

This interviewer was a bit cringey.
+C. Bialos He's an embarrassment.
+LollyD Thanks for the input! I wish I had done the interview before the show as opposed to after, it would have been different you...
How did you get this interview haha
i asked for it, big fan, but a weird interview...
the interviewer is definitely embarassing but lias' contents are pretty interesting

@@thelocalpyle you're welcome!
That was very funny.
i like a band that comes from nothing, they want it more!
