The funniest part is that if they stick with zurg being buzz dad and built up that moment it would make less awful probably, like buzz having that urge to be perfect because he is trying to keep his father legacy as an space adventurer but then discovers his dad is the villain, is very cliche but WAIT this movie is meant to be a 90s movie so...
Also robot's name Zurg thing.... the robots are not saying "zurg" they are saying "buzzurg" but most people miss the "buzz" part... so it's just "zurg"
@@Jaredragon the pronunciation makes more sense with that in mind, though I am still annoyed about the bots naming, lol. In terms of the Zurg power levels, I suppose it does make sense for the laser to blast him down, but it still annoys me how Zurg just lies there, he does the same thing later during the final battle. That bit is weird to me, because is old buzz unconscious? I guess that makes sense after sustaining such an impact, but you'd think he'd be down a lot longer considering he's like 70... What do you think? :)
The live action version of buzz light-year of star command: the adventure begins. Which funnily enough, also starts with a kinda jades buzz who doesn't want to work with rookies, only the introduction to that movie properly explains why without being arbitrary.
1:23:03 I feel like that concept COULD be done well. Seeing what could push the heroic protagonist to their breaking point, the current version having to directly face their flaws and darker aspects of their personality. There's potential for interesting stories/interactions, just tricky to have it done with any subtlety. Plus, in all fairness to TLM2. In-universe the stories are written by a kid and his little sister. They don't take themselves as seriously as Lightyear did.
It is a fascinating concept, the alternate self. I can't really think of any media I've seen that does it well though, Lightyear, TLM2, Star Trek Nemisis, Doctor Strange 2... I suppose that one scene in Empire Strikes Back with Luke in the dark cave is a good exploration of this idea, he faces what he thinks is his greatest enemy, only to learn that evil can live in him too.
Excellent video, well-researched and a great take on this movie. We need more content like this to bring these problems into the light and prompt change in the movie industry
They really should’ve just gone in full silly with the idea of a fun 90s sci-fi, maybe as an actual throwback to when Toy Story released. Zerg being Buzz from the future is absolutely dumb, in context it’s lame and creates a plot hole when Zerg says “I am your father” in TS 2. Literally everyone was expecting that to happen, the fact Pixar let this movie release in the state it was in is abhorrent.
@@artbytesia thanks for the feedback :) though I'm not the right person to do Frozen, my feelings on that movie are pretty middling, so I don't have much to say.
@@thefudgebot Oh, OK then. Thanks anyway! Me, I think Frozen is a pretty bad movie, mostly because the writing is so pitiful. We went from a very well-written movie like Wreck-It Ralph to a Disney Princess movie with writing on par with movies like Norm of the North!
@@artbytesia haha yes, my main gripes are how Elsa was originally intended to be the villain, but after Let it Go was written [which when analyzed, has pretty morally reprehensible lyrics] they changed her to be the hero, which resulted in a villian void, which then had to be filled by the silly prince guy. Definitely not the most well thought out movie
@thefudgebot Yeah, that was a terrible decision, to rewrite the whole movie. It's one of the reasons I'm not that fond of Let It Go, because it's what led to the decision to go with said rewrite. That, and the song is morally questionable, like you said, and it has no point in being there at all.

Can you believe the same guy who wrote and directed Toy Story of Terror, which is a GOOD Toy Story project, gave us this mess of a movie?

I’d say Patrick Warburton fits Buzz more than Chris Evans does.
