Greetings! This table was designed to be used without a mat, however given that it has adjustable VTA you could use the mat of your choice although it is not really necessary
I've owned this tt for about two years and I love it. I have it equiped with an Ortofon Bronze cart and a Schiit Mani 2 preamp which produces exquisite sound. A mat is really not needed, but I have used a cork and rubber from time to time. There is no decernable difference. Either way is fine. @@robertpower3046
So why would you only be willing to spend $500 but you said its nice? Btw I'm not trying to spread hate I'm just looking for a first turntable which I can reliably find so if you could go more in detail as yo what made you feel it was overpriced I'd appreciate that
I am in doubt yet, recently I moved to Japan and since I am here I would like to buy a Japanese turntable. I want to chose wisely. Unfortunately the Audio Technica website only offer 3 models at the moment: AT-LPW50BT RW, AT-LP120XBT-USB and AT-SB2022 (this last one is a NO for me). What are the best Japanese brands in your opinion?
Technics is great. I got my 1200GR several years ago when it was made in Japan. Unfortunately they closed their Japan plant and moved everything to a plant in Malaysia. Still should be good. 🎸🎸🎸
Hello just bought this table read the manual but one question seems to be unanswered if I am using the stock cartridge does the height need adjusted cause out of the box mine is the whole way down thanks alot
So, for a thousand bucks you get a clamp on the tone arm rest. No auto start, no auto return, no repeat, no direct drive, no hinges on the dust cover! I maintain that a forty year old Technics is still better than anything on the market today even up to a thousand dollars. And for anybody who rolls their eyes at an old, plastic plinth and light, die-cast platter, all I gotta say is 0.025 WRMS. Beat that today.
Very nice. You can't tell it's spinning its so well made.
You should always check the tracking weight with the anti skating in the off or 0 position
Looks nice. Reminds me of my Sony PS HX500 in its simplistic design. But I like the removable headshell design compared to the Sony.
Awesome demonstration
cool how the belt is outside
My biggest gripe with this table is that it does NOT come with a mat but DOES come with built-in phono-amp. Silly.

The guy spent $800 on a turntable but couldn't be bothered to watch a 5 minute video on UA-cam to figure out how to set it up lol.
Some people are terrified with technology.

If the cartridge and headshell sit parallel to the record surface, you're good to go.
