Joels version of hell: You are stuck in an almost empty room, surrounded by open cans of beans while you are forced to dance until you pee yourself.
And country music is blaring in the background but an intimidating cluster of tables prevents you from reaching the radio to shut it off
This was honestly such a throwback to Joel's 2014-15 streams were it was absolute unbridled chaos compounded by Joel's need to make things as uncomfortably awkward and weird as possible.

Funnily enough, there actually is in a weird sort of way, if you keep track of the starting default families like the Newbies and Goths. The Sims 3 actually takes place before The Sims 1, and The Sims 4 is actually an alternate timeline from the other games.

I remember this game. They made it so you couldn't sell stuff on lots but you could still move things around. there was never a need to return to your apartment when you could just pull everything you needed on a map into a room and live there.

You only control one person in this game.
The goal is to gain "Reputation" in this game. This is the number in the bottom left with a star meter next to it. That meter is an exp bar and your Rep is the level. It can go down.
Green text on actions means the person likes it and will improve your relationships. Red Text does the opposite.
The higher your rep the more places you can go.
To buy things look for a 3d spinning sign icon above cash registers.
You kept misreading the text. It was not saying to use "Power Socials" it was saying use "Social Moves" which is just interacting with other Urbz. It gets more wild in other districts I hope you get to see more than one if you return to this game.
I know you're trying to help, but I don't think Joel really cared about playing the game properly, he kinda just wanted to eat beans

The GBA/DS versions (basically identical; GBA menus are better) are so, so much better.

I rented this game so many times the gamecube version. I still have the PRIMA guide for it mostly because it has the walk-through / guide for the DS/GBA versions. Joel may laugh at this old clunker but I still get nostalgic and bop to the music.

That game was weird as fuck and had nothing to do with the Sims franchise, but I loved it as a kid
the urbz and sims bustin out are so damn good. having a story based sims game was so good idk why they didnt keep making them.
@@cowboydad6373 Griptonite made them. EA chose someone else to make something after Sims 2. Griptonite worked with EA on some pretty memorable games if you played a lot of licensed schlock as a kid. Harry Potter 1 2 and 3 for GBA and Sims Bustin' Out, Urbz, and SIms 2 for GBA/DS.

This is the first time I've seen the console version of this game in action and it's completely different from the handheld one, the GBA version of Busting Out, this and 2 are genuinely good games with a more adventure-ish story focus to them, albeit with some flaws such as lacking a fast forward feature when earning skills and being somewhat grindy at points.
The DS version of the Urbz is the same as GBA one but updated with better visuals, sound and new content on it so I recommend checking that one out if you're curious.

Lol in this game and in most sims games you can spam the wash hands option over and over till your sims' hygiene meter is refilled. It takes awhile but it's sometimes better than having to leave a community lot to get that tkaen care of.

Soooo Joel is gonna play all the ps2 Sims now, right?? I'd love to see him play the story modes for The Sims 2 on PS2 and Bustin Out, even though I know he'd get five minutes into the tutorial and just start jumping on the trampoline until his sim died and stop playing. Ps2 Sims 2 legit had some beautiful lots with interesting characters and backstories that need to be showed off... Maybe he could put in the cheat code to unlock all the lots and just explore them for a little bit. That's what my sister and I did once the game got too hard for us, lol. My favorite places were the cruise ship, the villa over the cliff, and the alien family trying to fit in by emulating 50s sitcoms.
This made me literally throw up from laughing. Thank you Joel.

This game is a complete fever dream, I cannot emphasize enough that you should keep playing it, because you have yet to see the most insane parts of it. You see, this game has absolutely ZERO nuance on race or culture, so despite areas being segregated by different 'subcultures/styles/genres', some areas are inexplicably monoracial and seem to be less about the way you dress and more about being a hilariously bad racial caricature. For instance, Neon East is a Walmart take on Japan where every NPC is an early 2000's candy kid with the voice of a wartime propaganda cartoon and they all make their primary income by making sushi. There's also an entire neighborhood populated entirely by the Black Eyed Peas, and they don't seem to have any other friends. Please please please keep playing this absolute monstrosity of a game, it is a trainwreck and a possible content mine.
