  • Missing since early December of 2009, little is know about the location of 28 year old Susan Powell. In the last few months some clues and rumors have surfaced that her body may have been hidden in a mine shaft somewhere in the west desert region of Utah. Last week Mojave Underground teamed up with Gold Rush Expeditions, Family Search and Rescue, Linda Osborne, and several other volunteers to search target mine shafts in the Dugway mountains.

Does anyone know of any areas up there with mines where the Wintergreen plant might grow? Those have red berries through the winter.

Was this the same shaft they explored in the new Heavy D series? The head framed shaft is the same one they showed as an example.

They are searching where Josh P. said he went. Of coarse that's where he wants them to go. He has ever told a truth … When??The little boys only repeated what their dad told them. NO One went camping nor was there any evidence ever discovered at Silver Springs. Look the opposite direction. Josh unnecessarily rented a car the next day and put 800 mi. on it. Why?? Where? Mine shafts are every where and go thousands of feet down. They will never find her. :(

Think Michael also was involved in cover up. Everyone stated josh was lazy so he probably didn’t take a long time with his plan

@@tinagillispie2471 if you look at how dry the desert is in the area - if you prepared even a very shallow grave on some other trip and you put wood in the covering ( as Chad Daybell did ) That wood is going to take 50 years to rot out. Use some quicklime... you don't need any mind shaft. Now you don't have to search mine shafts - you need to search 25 000 square km of desert.
Based on the COLD podcasts I think she was drugged at home and then a set of 150 mm L impact screws was drilled into her head to kill Susan. Josh may well have decapitated the head later so that if the main body was found the strange method of killing would not be noted. This sort of killing can be done in the house because it is essentially noiseless.
Remember the extremely fine blood droplets. - that is consistent with there being blood on the spindle of the Ryobi driver and the trigger being pulled on high speed setting.

@@F_Tim1961 They also stated he may have dismembered her and put her in several places. Its tragic that this whole family is dead.

@@tinagillispie2471 That is indeed possible. It seems likely that if this happened it was during the time that he was out in the wind in the hired car. I' d say for him the big emphasis would be to separate the head from the torso if he killed her the way that Dave Cawley is hinting at.
It is very clear that if the body was dumped on that snow camping trip she was killed in the house and she had to be killed relatively noiselessly. The tiny blood spots and the signs of washing up the furniture make that all seem highly likely.
The odds are that Dave sedated the boys on the trip and when they were asleep he removed the body from the rear of the mini van and put it in a predug grave (eg one with corrugated iron on top of it). Because he was working at night and in the snow he really had to come back to ensure that in the light of day there was nothing around to attract attention. (my guess - if only that GPS tracker was available and mounted on the minivan in time ).
I'd not be surprised if plastic bags or a blanket from that trip spent some time in the trunk of Micheal's car and that's why M was in so much of a rush to send his car to the crusher. Why a blanket ? Joshua would have told the boys she was sleeping in the back of the van.

Thats what u call cleared, checked? No wonder ppl never get found until an explorer or hiker finds them on their own w out planning on it. I thought that was lame for a search team.

I’m sure someone searched the mine Charlie described with all the pretty stelagtites.

Josh was playing with Charlie's head. Stalagtites only exist in Limestone caverns with lots of water continuously flowing over the roof. These shafts are parched dry most of the year.
