  • In today's video, we're talking about how to doodle tongue on trombone. I also wanted to give my thoughts on Doodle Tongue vs Double Tongue. Double Tongue is definitely my preference because my musical concept calls for a cleaner articulation concept.

    Well, this is a great encouragement to me. I can double and triple tongue with ease, but I've never been able to get the hang of doodle-tonging. Since Nick isn't a great fan of it, I think I'll just continue to get by with my double and triple-tonging.

      @@NickFinzer I see you are a King Trombone artist. I love King T-bones - currently have a 3B-F Silversonic (my favorite) a 2B Silversonic, a 4B, a 6B (bass) and a 1938-39 gold-plated Cleveland. Probably owned more than 20 in my lifetime. Also have a King Euphonium.

    It takes time to get and then develop doodle tonguing. Commit yourself to three times a day for five days in a row. Then take a break for a day. Probably just ten minute sessions. It will feel awkward and you may conclude that you will never get it. But stick with it and be patient.

      Good advice! Also it’s important to remember that this one technique doesn’t define anyone’s artistry, it’s just one possible color on the palette 👍

    So are you moving your tongue at the same time as vibrating the lips? It's not clear at all.

    • @NickFinzer
      @NickFinzer  7 місяців тому

      Your lips are always vibrating to make a sounds. Doodle tongue-ing is just one way to then articulate.
