how do they not make new poker after darks...it was the greatest show
They did but the players were boring
Love Doyle’s comment at 22:30 “Nice doing business with ya, John” haha I’ll use that in my next pot chop
The golden era!
Doyle is so good talking Jaimie up making him feel good so he keeps playing loose!!!! Saying how good he is and he’s a real player if you didn’t know he’s fast!!!!! That’s so smart doing that to players like that when inside he’s thinking your a donkey keep bluffing and playing like that!!!
Jamie is a donkey. Doyle doesn't need to do anything Jamie will donk off his stack no matter what
Look at these great players and Jamie Gold
LOL. I love watching him lose.
Why so much hate to Jamie Gold?
@@alevargas140
Because he’s a wannabe trash talker, but fails miserably
@@RestorationsFOD Jamie doesn't play anymore. He got ripped off in having to pay 50% of his winnings. Pure bs. 30% is about the going rate. Jamie plays all the hands and has to give away half of his winnings. I don't care what they agreed to. It is usury. Reminds me of Rocky Marciano having to pay his manager 50% of everything. I hope none of these misers are in Heaven.
"that was first date awkward" omg so glad the commentator said something, it was so weird
Right after she said something Jamie didnt shut up for the rest of the video. I guess it worked and they need his personality for ratings but jesus if I didnt love Jamie it would have gotten annoying fast
Timestamp?
I know this episode was aired a very long time ago, but it shocks me to see how far poker has come. Some of the plays these guys made back then would be considered horrendous plays today. Of course, they were also terrible plays back then, but they didn't yet know that. Makes me respect the people who have been pros for decades even more so, because they've had to make huge adjustments and remain successful.
erik siedel
Joel can you give some examples of the terrible plays they made?
@@sadclown14 Things like limping in UTG with A2s, or limp-folding UTG with QJo are some examples. Like I said, they weren't terrible plays back then based on how people played in that era, but in today's game none of these players would make those types of plays.
Derek, checking down 9high.
It's funny a guy in a UA-cam comment section thinks he's qualified to critique main event champions.
Ali Nejad is the greatest commentator of all time. He doesnt yap 24 7
tryna enforce his knowledge of the game. He just cracks a pun now and
then. Chill guy
Gold is a "tell" station xD
“Were all pretty aggressive players” says Jamie gold when he’s on a table with Chris Ferguson Johnny chan and Doyle
Ongle __ lmao! 😂
ah the good old days when poker had personalities instead of dudes in hoodies and glasses that dont know how to say hello
rad iohead So true, and they be like they dont reveal information, yet negreanu never shut his mouth and won 32mil lol, they trippin
rad iohead Yeah but the play is so bad I could destroy this game and I don’t play anywhere near these levels. That raise by chris Ferguson on the flop in the first hand is a game theory disaster. The reraise with QQ is not a play you even see in 1/2 these days.
I hate talking and give out info I would only response to the dealer
@@bobbylancer4553 thats okay but it makes for boring television which drives people away from poker
What's so bad about that? It helps u focus.
Only watched two hands so far. How did Gold or Mortensen ever win the main event? Doyle and Johnny are the cream of this table, regardless of who won! *continues watching* ...
Gold went broke because he sucks but Mortensen has a ton of skill he has one if not many wpt titles too
Awesomeness looking forward to episode 2 :-)
7:00 I did not know there was NO CLOCK ON PAD...... CRAZY
When did Stephen Colbert become a professional poker player?
Jamie gold isnt even a pro. Hes a lucksack donking his way to the WSOP title. Heard hes broke already
@@RKO859 terrible person as well
Lol at the drink Lady in the background. It's like someone is constantly telling her to smile more when she's in the shot.
Please bring more of these.
Jamie Gold was way over his head in poker. You win big take the bulk and out it away unless you got mad skills, which he does not
He cleared 6 mil. He was already a millionaire though.
More free content please! You’ll bring people in. Sure you’ll get the freeloaders, but your product will be relevant! Cheers!
If it's free, it's me.
Plus word on the street is fK Jay D
That intro theme song takes me back man to late nights in 2007 and 2008, winding down at 2 am. and watching with my buddies.
moneymaker shows a picture of his daughter. a PRINTED picture. cool.
Johnny Chan one of my favourite players. Such a classy dude and even compared to other pros hes one who extremly rarely makes a mistake.
back when Ferguson could show his face at a poker game.
I thought this just happened
Saw him multiple times this year at the WSOP
Sean Kiesling me too
@@tqsuited Spot on
@@Alanaboo912 this was recorded probably 12 years ago
You can tell just by his reaction that Doyle didn't like Chris Ferguson even back then.
Why everyone hates the guy?
@@mindaugux because on Black Friday full tilt wasn't paying players their money and he had a bog stake in the company.
Action players usually don't like nits
years back , the year after Joe Hachim won the WSOP main event, I was in Pattaya Thailand riding in the back of the baht bus, those toyota pickup trucks with bench seats in the back. Traffic was heavy as we were going down Beach road towards walking street. Started chatting with another guy and he claimed to have had a 10 % stake of Hachim's buy in and win.
Cool story, bro. Pfffft
Sheesh, watching old videos of poker is hard so many horrendous plays that by today’s standards puts you right in the fish bucket lol
25:55 "Yeah, I don't know if it's the hand or… the lights? I'm hot…" I think that heat was from Johnny Chan quietly steaming from folding the QJ straight that would have taken most of their stacks.
Love this stuff
Amazing video and amazing channel and amazing job friend 😀😎👍❤
Hehe Carlos always reminded me a little of scarface @ 3:06
Poor bar maid trying to smile all day. These pots are too low and the outcomes would be different if the pots were 20 k and not 2 k
This table needs a healthy dose of Daniel Negs Just to put some life into it, That being said I really miss the days of staying up late watching this, Yeah there was a lot of “bad poker” but it was the golden age, most exciting time to watch regardless of what you think about the players skill level
He didnt win the main event
yea i also enjoy the darker vibe than today. As well as the commentator not speaking too much. The old poker after dark had a relaxed vibe too it
20:49 Party horn
I miss the days where you would see bet in the dark !
You don't see that anymore
It’s a bad play.
If i have a choice, i would of replaced moneymaker, Jamie Gold, and Carlos with Scottie Nguyen, Phil Hellmuth, and Huck Seed.
Kiindof wild to see how solved the game has become. You'd never see Carlos three bet queens on an ace high flop today.
The amount of ads make this borderline unwatchable
Yes it was terrible I skipped the ads about 10 times
Looking back at this when there were normal stakes in cash games not like today for instance in triton poker 3000/6000€ blind and people actually cared about the money , they weren't some rich bilioners guffing around ,
Btw nice to se Poker After Dark back on UA-cam ♠️♥️♦️♣️🇧🇦🇧🇦🇧🇦🇧🇦🇧🇦🇧🇦🇧🇦🇧🇦🇧🇦🇧🇦🇧🇦🇧🇦
I agree with the commentator about Chris Ferguson looking like the undertaker from WWE
He said it wouldn’t have mattered anyway if that river didn’t come I would’ve bet the turn and Jamie said you would have!!!!!! Yea he’s a solid player
Tryin to figure out why Moneymaker brushed his hair with a pork chop...
16:43 johnny didn't mentor jamie, luck did!
Dealer got that super saiyan Karen haircut 😂😂😂
I agree that Ferguson looks like Undertaker’s twin lol
would really appreciate if someone help me find the beat/theme from 0:00 - 0:25
Limited commentary, lack of meta game.
I love it.
Ali Nejad is the greatest commentator of all time. He doesnt yap 24 7 tryna enforce his knowledge of the game. He just cracks a pun now and then. Chill guy
At 28:00 this guy doing his impersonation of Tony Montana playing poker?
Nostalgia
Yesssss
we need Tony G on the table
I don't like that guy.
Are you qualified ?
@@osumazimeowisfromme6241 On your bike
He would need to win the WSOP main event... that's not happening. Ha
i barely learned who fred savage is lol and mortenson looks like fred savage lol i cant now see it
Does anyone know where i can find this soundtrack/themesong?? I think its really great
Gold trying to bluff Doyle in a 20k buyin... not too smart. No wonder he plays the lower limits at LATB now.
Carlos takes a half hour to tank over calling a huge bet when he's got QQ on an ace high board against Ferguson Jesus Christ mate
He's just trying to save some face for the dumb bet in the dark and making Ferguson sweat a little, he was never going any further in that hand.
@@TonyEnglandUK definitely the case, even more obvious when he predicted his exact hand, a snap fold wouldve just looked dumb
It was a bad raise to begin with
I'm assuming he was putting Ferguson on ace-jack, or ace-queen when he made the 10k raise and thought the raise was screaming ace king so Ferguson would fold. Considering Ferguson ha ace jack, it was a geat play imo. surprised Ferguson didn't fold
@@michaelangst6078 He only didnt fold cos of the raise in the dark. I mean what can the guy have betting in the dark? AK? Very unlikely imo.
Its amazing how bad they play
Like you could fucking stand a chane against them
Go back to your 1/2$ stakes and stfu
I never understood how Jamie Gold won the WSOP aside from luck
Am I the only was that rewinded to make sure I saw that right mortenson folding 98 hearts 🤔
Can you imagine, all of them looking to isolate moneymaker
Long Island poker #1
Shanna hiat was 🐐
@38:50 i hear you ali
Clock ⏰ on a first hand lol
Seems like anyone can win a Poker Main Event judging by the way these guys are playing.
I legitimately do not think Gold could beat a $10-20 limit game. Quality grinders earning a living would own him.
What year was this ?
Im always loosy goosy lol
20:49 what is that sound xD a bird?
A cough I think. Funny thing I was at that part of the video while reading your comment. Ha
Need Phil And Phil ,plus Mike the mouth to put some life into the game,
Jamie gold is absolutely fish
26:16 Compensating for something buddy?
chris ferg is the slowest most boring player to watch
So is mortenson
he is so bad of a player also
J Bad player? Lmao. Did you just start watching poker?
put 20k on a table and see how fast you play ;-)
You want to see slow? Go watch the hand where Maria Ho golds a set on the flop...Doug Polk has a video about it, 4 handed heading to the flop...each of them tanks for a solid 2 minutes for each decision pre
Jamie vs Carlos is an ABSOLUTE DONK fest...
Doyle’s a beast
What year was this in
Carlos is a very bad player lol... also, I miss the popularity of the min raise
This shit is therapeutic
That DARK bet on the first hand flop was categorically moronic. They stupidity was compounted by re-raising. His only redeeming move was to not see the all-in. Jesus wept!
At 41:30 I’m screaming CHECK DOYLE CHECK, the only way ur making money there off of one of the, trying to bluff to steal the $7k pot.... what a weak move
Why doesn't this show let us know the players position?
William Ng that would be awesome
It took him that long to fold queens ? Obv has aq aj a10 or a set
What channel is poker after dark on?
E. Finch None. These are old shows.
Would be a lot better without crybaby Gold
Is that 2nd dealer Annette Oberstadt@@???🧐👀🤔
Haha. Looking at the dealers.
Is this guys in great need of a paycheck week?
Why didn’t Doyle raise on the turn against Carlos? Doyle had a SET and what was on the board was a flush draw. Why not raise something like $2,000 so as to give Carlos bad odds to call for his flush draw and build the pot?
It's amazing how far the game has come . Most of these guys are legends, but the game is quite soft, and the bet/raise sizes are pretty liberal.
You don't see that a lot these days.
Looking for a video tonight. About 15 to 20 commercial breaks. Crap. Do I really want to watch an old video.
20:49
9:26 oh doyle you cheapskate 🧐 - ohh gotcha a dollar 🤨
Considering what Ferguson had and the type of player he is, You would assume the 10k raise was at least ace king.. He even thought Ferguson had ace jack when he made the play... Why is nobody saying this? it was a great play that didn't work out..
And not a Hellmuth in sight.
How old is this?
even j gold can learn
I didn't know Pedro Fernandez was a professional poker player
Jajajajajaja no mames güey
Where is hellmut ...is a must for tv show
hellmut? lol
Back then I think we all knew gold would go broke, not taking anything away from his wsop win but...i mean just a really bad player.
So whats up with the cash? They making cash bets too?
maybe 13 not 20
What's even more remarkable about how bad Gold is... is the dealer's hair. Looks like Ivey has had her in the car park.
Don't know why Mortenson would bet like that with his Queens. He knows better I feel like.
