God bless Mike Evans who passed at the young age of 57. His talent merited more and better roles than he received. Norman Mailer giving him his walking papers when he asked for more airtime was tragic. Finally after decades of being sidelined he suffered throat cancer, a horrible way to go. Mike was a great talent and deserved better treatment.
Mike Evans was the best Lionel, imho.
I love The Jeffersons, and the first Lionel was by far the best and it’s not even up for debate. The first Lionel was cool, charming, and quick witted. I also loved that he would break out of character in certain scenes.
Lionel saying he gave the dean half of the peace sign is priceless. 😂
What sells it is George in the back laughing his ass off.
The 1st, Lionel Jefferson.
Was always my favorite! Just something about him. He just had *SWAG* about himself.
Mike Evans was a GEM. He was so unaffected it was hard to believe he was acting!
The original Lionel is the best imo
I love both Lionels🥰👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾and I'm glad that the first one wrote for Good Times 🥰❤️🖤💚✊🏾❤️🖤💚
He didn't just "write for.."
He & Eric Monte CREATED Good Times & a white dude took the credit. (Google it)❤
Mike Evans, the first Lionel, co-created "Good Times!"
@@ginam.jackson9688 and wrote much of the episodes as well 🥰l knew this but l STILL like hearing it 🥰 he wrote and made sure they were the EVANS family 🥰👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾and at least one kid was Mike aka Michael 🥰 genius 🥰👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾❤️🖤💚✊🏾❤️🖤💚he is and they are Black History forever 🥰👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾
The best show on TV, ever!
Damon Evans did his best. But Mike Evans was THE Lionel, starting with All in the Family.
Mike Evans was the ONLY Lionel that I will ever accept. The replacement Lionel was like diet soda...ok..but NOT as good as the real thang😂😂😂
That may be true but Mike Evans couldn't write and create Good Times and do the Jeffersons that's why he left❤️🖤💚✊🏾❤️🖤💚🥰 he'll Always be the Man and thank God they didn't get rid of Lionel's character like Norman stinking Lear did the father on Good Times ❤️🖤💚🙏🏽❤️🖤💚😘thank God for the back up Lionel 🥰👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾
Mike Evans
Mike Evans is the man.
Ase
4:23 don't ever block grandma from hitting you when you're wrong.
That scene was priceless. Ultimately, he adored and respected his grandma.
My granny made me go get a swith when I was 36
Mike Evans is Lionel Jefferson, the original he’s been the beginning since the first episode of all in the family. The first Jefferson appear on screen. They did him dirty in the Jeffersons. They should’ve had more of a role for him since he was the original character to appear
He left the show because he was writing for Good Times. He came back to the show after Good Times ended.
I met the real Lionel (Mike Evans)when I was a kid he was super cool
I met a lot of celebrities but SOME of MY favorites was New Edition,Ben Vereen and Queen Latifah 🥰❤️🖤💚✊🏾❤️🖤💚
And handsome ❤
I wonder where he is now?🤷🏾♀️
@@kaylorraineMike Evans passed away in 2006.
@@kaylorraine Mike Evans is in heaven l believe 😘🙏🏽he passed by smoking those darn cancer sticks and getting cancer (his daughter did an article some time ago when they were working on his movie aka life story)🙏🏽😘bless his soul and the other Lionel he was on Broadway when they asked him to do Lionel he may have went back to Broadway 🥰🙏🏽 blessings to him wherever he is and I'm sssooo glad stinking Norman Lear didn't write Lionel's character off like he did father on Good Times ❤️🖤💚✊🏾❤️🖤💚😘
❤ Happy birthday to Mike and Damon Evans. Not related. 11 3. 11 24 Did you know both Lionels were born in November ? The first had a birthday the day before Jenny's. We also must recognize we would have no Good Times without him. The best Damon Evans episode is when he celebrated Lionels graduation
2:15-2:16 lionel gave the dean the bird
Lmao Hell yeah 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
Mike Evans was the best,
but Damon did a good job.
I agree totally!!💯🎯🤗💝🦋
Don't agree
They were both great actually. Mike was just a bit more handsome😅
Damon did a horrible job he couldn't act his way out of a brown paper bag
@@TaWandaJoyner those are some cheap earrings
man they cut out the funniest part when george told louise how much that watch cost
And then Louise replied, "Ni_ _ _r Plaeas!!!!!!"
Despite not being related I say both Mike & Damon Evans did a great job playing the role of Lionel
The very first Jefferson we met on ALL IN THE FAMILY...
Mike Evans was the only Lionel for me. I could not stand his replacement. He had that high pitched voice and just didn’t have the charisma that Evans had.
I liked Mike in the role best but I didn't dislike Damon. Damon said that he didn't want to disrespect Mike's portrayal of Lionel so instead he played the character a different way.
The original Mike Evans created Good Times , The Evans Family. Had middle son Michael take on his real name Michael Evans!!. He was producer . Unfortunately he died young
I love them !!!
18:18... Hilarious! 😂
✊🏾 Mike Evans RIP. He was an untapped talent. I don't think we saw the full scope of his talent. Just the tip of the iceberg. Sad.
The other Lionel I'm sure he's a nice guy But this was not his character. He should not have been casted for this role. Much respect to him though for trying.
😂😂😂😂 love this
Lionel #2 was too childish
They cut out the N word!!!!
I prefer the late Mike Evans as Lionel Jefferson than Damon Evans.
I liked both “Loinel’s” 😃What happened to the first ?✨🕊️
The first one left the show after the first season to be a writer for Good Times. After Good Times wrapped after several seasons he came back to The Jeffersons. He later on passed away at age 57.
📡📡📡📺📺📺📺
The original is ALWAYS better! The original Gladys Kravitz, Darrin Stevens, Becky Conner and Lionel Jefferson! You can never truly fill their shoes.
Where were the black kids in the cafeteria, I would've asked Lionel. Unless he was the only black kid there.
My guess is they left campus to get something to eat. We black folk try stay out of other folks mess 😂
I will #1 Lionel was much than better. I will #1 lionel was funniest and #2 lionel was sucks
The second was smarter acting. Like a real college student.
Ì just saýiñg there are good both of them
@dbrown9495 that's bull 😂 makes no sense what you just said.
Mike Evans the second guy was a fruit cake
Yes, I read an article where he (Damon Evans) admitted that he was gay. In fact, he stated that he hated to play the role of Lionel. He only played the role to please his parents who was hoping the role of being Jenny's boyfriend would make him go strait. He also stated that when they (Norman Lear) released him and brought the other Lionel back (Mike Evans), he was so happy to leave the show.
@@latoniaclark5330 I had read that too. His parents seemed to be real pistols, hoping that a TV role would "turn him str8". There are PLENTY of gay actors & actresses (past AND present) who played str8 roles in TV & movies. His parents should've just loved and supported him, regardless of his sexual orientation
@@latoniaclark5330 Interesting you both read that for I just now read an article from 2021 where he said positive things about playing a black character on TV since there were so few black roles back then.
Mike evans ws a great actor, he seemed cool. But the actress playing Jenny is so damn annoying..smh..😅
She had her moments where her acting was wonderful.
