What Poults did at Medinah will remain one of the greatest catalysts for winning the Ryder Cup ever, he single handedly deliverer belief to an entire team they could win. What a hero to Europe and pain in arse to USand we love him for it!!
Never been a massive Poulter fan and definitely a LIV hater but he came across as a top bloke and could never fault him for taking the money at this stage in his career. A testimony to what hard work, dedication and determination can deliver. Enjoy the fruits of your labour Mr Poulter, thoroughly deserved
I walked a nine hole practice round with Ian and his caddy at the Vines in Western Australia in 2009. Me and my mate walked up the the first tee and there was Ian about to tee off. we asked if he minded that we walked with him... and he said no probs...He was just amazing, really likeable, and chatty and genuinely and nice guy. We thanked him for letting us walk and chat...it was like we had just played a social round with him.
wow, thats awesome ! im in w.a. too..what sort of condition was the Vines in at the time? did you get a sense of what he thought about the course? did you learn anything interesting course management wise in terms of his decision making process ?
@@huddwah hi mate I was a member there for 10 years...was probably the last time the course was in reasonable condition. As soon as they didn't have tournaments, the course went down hill. Pity really as its a great layout!
As an American, Poulter is one of those guys you love to hate come Ryder cup time. I've always admired his passion... and when I saw him on the Full Swing series, I thought he was great.. looking forward to watching/hearing this podcast to see more of who he is.
Tour/LIV status aside, Ian is and always has been a genuine and transparent human being. Great guy and at the end of the day, a Dad and really great personality. Well done gents!
I went to LIV Adelaide. It was my first ever golf event, and it was amazing! Being able to see some of the best players in the world come within 4 hrs of my hometown and play some top-quality golf up close and personal in an awesome relaxed atmosphere was unreal! I was also on the watering hole for Chase Koepkas hole in 1..... wow, just wow, memories that will stay with me for a lifetime! LIV brought to Australia what PGA never would.
Hearing him speak about Liv was absolutely fascinating and it really opened my eyes to why it was so attractive to so many golfers. One of the best podcasts to date 👏👏
I agree if you've ever booked a flight much less at the last minute it sucks. Then figuring out dinner schedules and such. It made more since coming from him than the bone head that screams only money.
Great interview! I must say that Ian broke my heart at Medinah! As I’m sure you can tell I am from the USA and live in Chicagoland. All is good! Thanks again for a great interview.
I have always been a poulter fan and that will never change, and that was by far the most enjoyable youtube video I've seen . Really enjoyed it Rick. More like that please. And I cant wait for your round with ian.
What a great watch it was fantastic to just listen to Ian Poulter talk and be honest and relaxed he is a great family man and I would love to go for a few beers with him I bet it would be a blast
Brilliant. The lads should be in the meetings between LIV and the PGA because they would certainly smooth the road forward! Ian came over brilliantly. Top man and very interesting listen.
You know what.. I was never a big Poulter fan, decent player but just couldn't "like him" like Darren Clark or Westwood. Never really heard him speak at length until today & I now find him engaging, likeable & a decent bloke. Very happy to have my mind changed. Great Interview...Great podcast
The Ryder Cup Goat 🐐 best podcast episode for ages if not ever! So much respect for Poults, always honest and speaks his mind. It would be criminal to exclude him from future Ryder cup captaincy! Can’t wait for the match and part 2!
Wonderful Podcast, thank you, BUT… Guy - you can’t wear a hat in the clubhouse, been a member since 95 and learnt my lesson when thrown out one afternoon as a 15 year old by Alex Hay… proud to still call it my home club
Just brilliant, I was riveted to the screen. Great podcast, thank you Ian for your contribution to European Golf and such an honest and straight forward interview.
Just been marshalling at the Betfred British Masters. What a difference when you meet the golfers "inside the ropes" The majority of the more well known, are either super concentrated or just stuck up. Stephen Gallagher never said thank you when I found his ball in the rough. Well it was at the base of a tree with no shot, so we can forgive him. Rosie told me to shift twice out of his eyeline but did acknowledge me afterwards. David Howell was the only one to say good morning when he arrived at the tee. "Good morning sir" "Good morning David". Paul Waring and his caddie Alex Evans interacted, but I had Instagramed Alex beforehand. The Japanese golfers acknowledged you more, well impressed. Any progolfers reading this just acknowledge the marshal's, they are there unpaid and can spend 10 hours at a hole, standing, concentrating on the play, be the first to applaud, interacting with the public, watching out for the welfare of the players. Just a thank you and a smile.
Subscribed! We’ll done Rick. You are now officially the pinnacle of golf reviews with the hot new set up, there is nothing better out there! Look forward to videos from the new suite. Congrats again!
Poulter is my childhood golf memory. Watching him as a child with my grandparents. Still one of my favorite player. Comes across as a great guy. Loved this podcast. One of my favorite
What a guy. Medinha made me warm to him. Ian’s contribution in Ryder Cups was fantastic. This podcast and some of his shots today will change a lot of people’s view on Ian. Great guy and fantastic golfer. Coming from a golf mad Scotsman 👍
I am going towards my 61st birthday was a member of a Bedford GS and a member of a Bedfordshire village club ,we took 30 guys met the club Pro one of the best guys ever he turned up on tour later on and Will say all 30 of us wanted him to make it he is a bloody gentleman. Big up Ian
Every single time I’ve seen Ian being interviewed or playing away from the tour or the Ryder Cup in a “for fun” circumstance, he comes off as genuinely cool, delightful, and interesting, fellow.
Its refreshing to hear you talk LIV with Ian. You certainly weren't this relaxed about your view on LIV when the topic first presented itself. Im glad you got to have a face to face conversation with him about the league.
At 57 and playing golf since 7 (handicap was 2 at one time). I have on my calendar 5 weeks each yr - the 4 majors and the Players. Quite frankly, many of the other weeks I’d be fine just listening to these guys talk golf & how it happens, how its created…at that level. “Watching” more golf is not feeding my current fix!
Ricks podcasts and UA-cam are the best. Pouter is Always a team player , family man and a class act who loves competition. The insight on LIV was great , speaking on golf as a business and personalizing it with his kids makes him successful. Love to hear about his cars and racing but next time. Brutal when he beat the Americans for us , each time but he was absolutely the best in the Ryder cup and he should be a Captain and continue to battle.
Woburn isn't in Watford or near North West London, it is on the Bedfordshire/Buckinghamshire border. Down south is all the same to these northern folk.
This was never going to be anything other then absolutely tremendous, GOATS of golfing UA-cam/podcasts for a reason, cannot wait for the match 👏 👏 ❤️ ⛳️
Great podcast. I’ve always been a fan of Ian. Such a passionate player. And is always fired up especially in the team play format. LIV, Ryder cup ect… so much fun watching him. And listening to him speak, he’s a real genuine guy. Even being from the US, he has to be on the Ryder Cup team. He’s such a leader and as a golf fan I look forward to seeing him play whenever possible. Great Podcast Rick n Guy👍🏌️♂️⛳️
How he plays team golf is remarkable😊 His passion, and determination, and is very effective in leading a team, you can only admire him I wish I had a guy on the US team like that . We have some good golfers on USA but nobody rallies a team like Ian He’ll go down in history as one of the greatest Ryder Cup players 💪⛳️ Good podcast
Poults will make an unbelievable RYDER CUP captain…in the not too distant future I’ve absolutely no doubt… He’s the peoples champion and every European golf fan loves Ian 😀
I'll admit I wasn't an Ian poulter fan before this interview. It seemed when I did see him on tv over the years he was always portrayed as a villain. Not now though. He sure sems like a stand up gentleman and a very interesting man. Great podcast gentlemen!!!
Wow, Ian Poulter what a great pod cast/video, I just love how he is so family orientated, and his out look on golf is great, love watching him play and his passion, the LIV golf program fits in to his family life. He comes across as very approachable and is honest and down to earth.
Glad Ian is enjoying the holiday (and even less opportunity to watch him!). I manage a 2 week holiday about once every 5 years including Xmas. And my dad was away working for 9 months+ a year, so I do know how important time spent with your kids is. However - real question - are players playing too much for the "best golf"? Koepka recovered on a LIV schedule. Should players have a schedule that maxes out as eg 40 matches a year? What's best, especially in a Ryder Cup year?
Not been a fan of Liv but to be fair just want everyone to get on with it now. Love how open and willing to discuss it he is. And generally seems a top guy. One of the better tour pro guests for sure. Gone up in my estimation a lot
Poults is such a legend, such a humble guy. His social media is hilarious. Cant wait to see him back at a Ryder cup in any sort of capacity. Gutted to have never bumped in to him at woburn.
At 1:19:56 you two look like two small children listening to a grand story about an epic battle from the victor. It’s like two small characters in a kids show. It is wonderful to see that.
I definitely missed the IJP tech trousers. I was lucky enough to be at Doral when they launched. I still have the white crocodile belt with the swarovski crystal logo belt buckle.
Loved that, love Poulter but really need a part two at some point like you said so much more to cover specially ruder cup wise! That could be a episode in itself
Me and my son meet Ian at the Quinn Direct British Masters 2007 my son was 14 he had a Birmingham city football top on Ian was great fun with my lad cracking jokes about our team.
Ian Poulter, you have changed my opinion of you, what a great guy just shows you that bad information should not be listened to. I was wrong ! great pod cast thankyou Mr Shiels and Guy !!
How can anyone doubt Ian Poulter after everything he’s done for Europe in the Ryder Cup - they will definitely miss him - another great podcast 👍🏻
What Poults did at Medinah will remain one of the greatest catalysts for winning the Ryder Cup ever, he single handedly deliverer belief to an entire team they could win. What a hero to Europe and pain in arse to USand we love him for it!!

THE best explanation of the many benefits of LiV for fans and golfers. Thank you.

Money, nothing but money. The rest is just filler
I agree if you've ever booked a flight much less at the last minute it sucks. Then figuring out dinner schedules and such. It made more since coming from him than the bone head that screams only money.
Not watched it yet but I’m guessing cash had something to do with it
I love the honest sit down conversation. Good on you for bringing this content!
Great interview! I must say that Ian broke my heart at Medinah! As I’m sure you can tell I am from the USA and live in Chicagoland. All is good! Thanks again for a great interview.
Fantastic interview. Candid, funny and incredibly honest. I think the way you and Guy put your questions across really got Ian talking. Thank you!
I have always been a poulter fan and that will never change, and that was by far the most enjoyable youtube video I've seen . Really enjoyed it Rick. More like that please. And I cant wait for your round with ian.
That was one of the most down to earth genuine interviews I have heard.
What a great watch it was fantastic to just listen to Ian Poulter talk and be honest and relaxed he is a great family man and I would love to go for a few beers with him I bet it would be a blast

Rick, why do you reference Woburn GC near Watford? Only a couple of miles from Milton Keynes!!!
This is probably my favorite podcast yet! Loved the POV from a LIV golfer!
Hey Rick, Woburn is nowhere near Watford. It is closer to Milton Keynes, different county.
Really impressed with how articulate Mr Poulter is, very good quality interview.

What a great interview. Thank you to all and especially Ian for his candour. Very refreshing to hear

How many MONSTER energy drinks did guy have for the intro...😂😂😂❤❤❤
Amazing! It's brilliant to watch someone you followed for years grow!
Excellent pod Rick & Guy & Ian, can't wait for the 10-shot-challenge video!!!
AWSOME -loved the interview
Loved Ian, loved his views on how he plays the game. Thank you Rick and always Guy. Stay safe to all!!

What an absolute pleasure listening to the legend
One of the best podcast yous guys have done! Love listening to Ian
Amazing interview, love the openness.
I’ve subscribed. The putting tech is unreal. Love the studio too. A long wait but worth it 👏
Woburn isn't in Watford or near North West London, it is on the Bedfordshire/Buckinghamshire border. Down south is all the same to these northern folk.
Arguably the best podcast yet. Ian Poulter is as honest as they come and it was great to hear his take on things.
This was an excellent podcast guys and Poults was great. Relaxed and genuine I thought.
I just love this guy! Since 1999! Awesome player!
Poulter is a legend (& a great family man & golfer). His Ryder Cup heroics are unlikely to be surpassed.
This was never going to be anything other then absolutely tremendous, GOATS of golfing UA-cam/podcasts for a reason, cannot wait for the match 👏 👏 ❤️ ⛳️
Holy mother of God. I am so happy. I love Ian so much
Great podcast gents, big fan of the postman who never fails to deliver. Look forward to the ten shot challenge. Kudos 👏

ive been a fan of his since he came on tour wearing loud pants… loved this. thanks guys
What a podcast. Listened in the car and ran into house to watch the video. Really enjoyed this podcast!
Thank you
And just like that, I became a Poulter fan.
Loved every minute of that. Waiting for part 2 in Florida!
Best Poulter interview I’ve seen! Brilliant viewing!
That’s a bit unfair, he comes across as eloquent, honest and open. To be fair he’s made the most of the talent he’s been given.
Great pod cast but when did Woburn move to Watford
What an absolute legend that man is! I would love to meet him and play a round. Great podcast guys - well done! Can't wait for Part 2 in Orlando!
Ian Poulter may be the greatest golfer Ian Poulter has ever seen.
🤣👍
If you don't have a huge amount of self-confidence, you should just pack it in. They all have egos.
@@arethereanyuniquehandles It's only a joke. I like Ian and the personality he brings to golf.
😂
Don't backtrack now 😂, he's a total throbber. But we love that he's our throbber 🇬🇧
How he plays team golf is remarkable😊 His passion, and determination, and is very effective in leading a team, you can only admire him

One of the best podcasts in a long time, but I have a burning question - Guy what is that quarter zip? Love it so much!
Love Poults. Great interview. Good work all round guys.
Love the grounds crew doing work in the background.
The studio looks great. Definitely had to subscribe to see more content in it.
Great interview, and Poulter is class.
Enjoyed that from the postman!
Great interview can’t wait for 10 shot video.
Like the honesty from poults about liv
Omfg Poulter! The post man. My favorite golfer. Thanks so much for this Rick
Great interview. What a player and all round good guy. Hopefully see him as the Ryder Cup captain one day.
Saw Ian at a LIV event in April in Orlando, had no idea he was a tall as he is. Was shocking. He was striking his drives, so crazy to see it in person
Why do you keep saying Woburn is in Watford? Its 30 miles north of Watford, next to Milton Keynes
Outstanding. One of my favorite players ever!
Glad Ian is enjoying the holiday (and even less opportunity to watch him!). I manage a 2 week holiday about once every 5 years including Xmas. And my dad was away working for 9 months+ a year, so I do know how important time spent with your kids is.

Really interesting to get a Liv player's honest view at last!
An man, I can't wait for the 10 shot challenge against the Postman now!!
You know he’s gunna deliver!
I definitely missed the IJP tech trousers. I was lucky enough to be at Doral when they launched. I still have the white crocodile belt with the swarovski crystal logo belt buckle.

Great podcast. I'm a fan off Ian. He is open and honest in his comments and answers. Can't wait to see the match between you two.
What a set up 👌
Good luck with the new channel Rick 👍🏻
Brilliant podcast, best yet
Bit heavy on the family chat but LIV chat mainly from 1:04:00
Thank you. I wasted so much time skipping and skipping ahead.
good luck Ian. Really you'll need it.
The great thing about Ian is you don’t have to worry what is he thinking, he’ll tell you!
Ian Poulter, you have changed my opinion of you, what a great guy just shows you that bad information should not be listened to. I was wrong ! great pod cast thankyou Mr Shiels and Guy !!
Can’t listen to these pods anymore as Guy just grates me but this one i had to. Poults is a fascinating character.
