    Picked mine up today and took it straight to the range. No joke this is one hell of a rifle. It performed perfectly straight out of the box, shout a few hundred rounds, no CLP or anything. I do have one complaint about it though. It ran so well and was so much fun to shoot I shot through a large percentage of my 5.56 stockpile. Somebody should complain to Sig about this.

      Update! Since I bought this rifle for $1499, 1200 rounds have been shot. Not a single hiccup! Pure nail driver!!!

    I really like my 516 patrol. I've fired around 1400 rounds haven't had a malfunction, I haven't run it until it's smoking hot either...but I trust my rifle.

    It's worth the money fellas. My ADAMS, CMMG and LWRC were not cheap. I recommend the BRAVO co. Dragonfly and a Adams gas piston upper. Still have enough money left over for 1000 rounds and a MILLETT DMS 1-4.

    Late to the party, but as an owner of a Gen 2 FDE Patrol. I love them, but for the price, this is what they should have always been. After realizing the Lancer carbon fiber handguards are a thing, I'm ditching that heavy quad rail, and dropping a Geissele SD-E into it. I still love the 516, a lot, but between those last two mods, and my ACOG RCO and SJC Titan muzzle break/comp, I don't think I'll ever have to mess with it again and it'll be a nice all rounder: fast-ish enough for 2/3-gun, but with the ability to reach out without having to change anything.
    But yeah, that price. And as much as I adore them, I think we could have gotten something like this for even the standard 516's. The Quad-Rails and GI-spec/style trigger on an otherwise powerhouse of a rifle really drag it down and you have to spend more to put it where it should have always been.

    Glue fibres sure are nice for cars, stealth bombers, knife handles, gun frames

    • @GUNS-GDC
      @GUNS-GDC  10 років тому

      No the frame so much as the furniture. Basically the parts that humans interact with during the manipulation of the rifle. But I agree, Carbon Fiber is awesome. I'll almost always take a lighter gun over a heavier one, recoil notwithstanding.

    Well I dont think I’ve ever seen anyone speak as highly about the 516-patrol rifle! I bought mine about two and a half years ago for $1000 I have a AFG a two point sling and a Romeo on top but I am gonna replace that soon with a Whiskey 3x9 or 4x16

    Difficult rifle to get your hands on for sure...I currently have a sig m400 srp (unfired) that I'm going to trade in (or sell if I can find a buyer soon enough) for the carbon ts. I've been quoted $1670 OtD from my local dealer. Only difference that I'll see between my current sig and this one....I actually intend on using it lol. Shortly after purchasing I did a lot more research on the difference between the m400 and the 516 and it was instantly buyers remorse. I look it it as a good down payment though. No big deal, it's just money!
    Good video! Thanks for the upload.

    How did you install the add ons (I.e magpul grip I assume and a bipod) to the lower part of the carbon hand guard? Did you have to put on some short rails or were they directly attached to the carbon fiber?

    @Mmyers1177 9 років тому

    Is it true you need to remove the Carbon Fiber handgaurd to remove the Gas Piston? This would suck! Thanks for your time and responce.

    • @craywm

      HYDRA DYNAMIC I picked up a Sig 516 Carbon FS a few weeks ago. Lancer makes two types of carbon fiber hand guards for the sig 516 and sig 716. There are both a short and a long. The short allows you to remove the piston for cleaning easily. The long has an open area where you can change the gas setting but you do need to remove it to get to the piston (atleast I have found no other way). You can buy the shorter carbon fiber hand guard from Lancer if this is a problem. I like the long version because it helps me to stabilize the rifle. The piston system adds weight to the front end of the rifle. By extending your grip further towards the barrel, you can compensate for the extra weight.

    I notice youre getting a fair amount of muzzle flip. I've made a custom buffer kit specifically for the 516. It allows the system to run on the lowest gas setting and tremendously reduces felt recoil. It also delays bolt unlocking to ensure consistent barrel harmonics and pressure. I'll post a video if interested. Also, our carbine's do not have the cold hammer forged barrels. Sig Saurer, unfortunately, decided to save money and change the barrels from the original gen 1. If you notice, the g2 516 have a 3/4 lightweight barrel contour instead of a thicker m4. Needless to say, the first time I removed the lancer rail I was highly pissed

    • @Letmeseeitnow357
      @Letmeseeitnow357 10 років тому

      Contact me. I have the 1st gen 516 and I just bought the carbon TS online today. I want to know what you did to get it to run in the low gas setting. Nycreatedme@gmail.com

    • @jonathanlangford4291
      @jonathanlangford4291 10 років тому

      I can't totally disclose everything because it is a system that I plan to sell. I will say that the bolt rings are unnecessary and cause a great deal of drag on the system. They also cause stress on the extractor with a short stroke piston system and is why some break. Simply removing them is a good start. POF USA makes a "roller cam pin" that I highly recommend on external piston systems.

    • @Letmeseeitnow357
      @Letmeseeitnow357 10 років тому

      I already have the POF roller cam pin. My current 516 is the smoothest AR Ive ever racked a charging handle on bar none because of it. I'm interested in what ever it is your selling cause being able to run it on the lowest gas setting is a major plus. I hate all DI guns but if I were to buy one, the Colt CRP is the one I'd buy. A buddy of mine has one and its tuned on a very low gas setting. needless to say, its got a good 30-40% less recoil than my 516 and I have a Go Gun USA muzzle break on my gun.

    • @jonathanlangford4291
      @jonathanlangford4291 10 років тому

      Your new 516 will have a much lighter impulse than the original generation 1. The gen 2 has a lightweight bcg. I'm sorry I can't be more descriptive but we've not yet got all of the sources to start producing the low recoil kit just yet but I've saved your contact. The buffer in the 516 is an H1 that can be changed for a carbine buffer. If you look up "David Tubb flatwire buffer spring" there is a video he's posted on UA-cam on how to tune his chrome silicon flatwire spring. Also, the pin on a buffer can be punched out and the weight can be lightened use weights or powders. I hope I've helped and wish you luck. Hopefully, it will be economical for us to make the system in the near future. The goal is $99 and be user friendly to adjust for 3 gun, hunting, and adverse tactical use.

    • @jonathanlangford4291
      @jonathanlangford4291 10 років тому

      Be sure to not go below 30 coils on the David Tubb flatwire spring. Because of its design, the spring will spread the recoil impulse over a longer period of time which will keep peak recoil low. It also holds the bcg forward with more force.

    Really like the vid! Too bad for me that this is a normal price for an AR here in Switzerland. If you want something a little better than a M&P15, and even that runs for around 1100$. This baby will probably come close to 4k here...

    • @GUNS-GDC
      @GUNS-GDC  10 років тому

      Yikes! That's crazy expensive. I can't say I've ever looked into Swiss gun laws before. In fact I've only been there once, and I spent most of my time around the Lion of Lucerne. - I will say this, my friends from the area that send me chocolates around Christmas have my convinced that I need to smuggle back a few tons of the stuff.
      Thanks for the comment.

      @wheezzl 10 років тому

      Hehe, when I come home from the U.S. my bags are filled with AR mags and other accessories ;) Too bad I can't buy guns there. The gun laws themselves are pretty ok here. You need to register every gun but you can get pretty much everything not full auto easily (special reasons needed). Only silencers are not allowed unfortunately (though I think you can get one as a "collector" with a special license)

    Bought one in 2017, have put an easy 2k rounds 5.56 through it and its the best. Only complaint is saw and tried(did happen) was can't shoot cheap 223 through it.. well, I only tried it to see.. the short answer: Don't put cheap ammo in an expensive gun. you wouldn't put regular gas in a Benz

  • @tanhelmet
    @tanhelmet 10 років тому

    Love the basic rifle and upgrades. Dislike the price. Let me do the cursory list. Billet lower $250. Buffer tube and stock $150. Charging handle $70, comp $ 250. MBUIS $250. Guiseillle trigger $250. Carbonfiber handguard $300. And $1200 gas piston upper.

    Don't listen to the idiots. I once owned at gen 1 516 and had constant hits to 600yds with proper ammo and swfa 1-4 hd scope. I am current doing the unthinkable to 1k with 77gr bthp ammo out of a DI rifle with a 2-10x vortex viper pst

      I called sig today asked them the same question . Again got the same answer.
      So I pressed on double checking and then the Rep checked bill of materials . And told me yes it is a GEISSELE TRIGGER!
      They need to do their homework before misguiding the customers!

    • @Letmeseeitnow357

      I received my Sig 516 TS carbon today. I did shoot it. I'm confirming that it does indeed have a Geissele trigger. Its the SSA. I have an SSA-E in my Gen 1 516. I believe the SSA is crisper and easier to double and tripple tap with. Im suprised that I prefer the SSA over the SSA-E. overall I'm very happy with my new 516 TS carbon.

    • @GUNS-GDC
      @GUNS-GDC  10 років тому

      Jagmeet Mann Agreed. Also that Geissele trigger makes all the difference in the world on that rifle. If it had a Krieger barrel and was fed nothing but match-grade ammo it wouldn't 'feel' as accurate if it had a standard military trigger.

    • @Letmeseeitnow357
      @Letmeseeitnow357 10 років тому

      I'm not familiar with Krieger Barrels but I do hate milspec standard trigers so I won't be going back lol. I will say that I greatly I appreciate all of the knowledge and valuable input I've received from multiple people commenting on this video.

      As a civilian battle rifle, it certainly should be able to. Though the fact that it uses a more powerful round that better resists wind drift than .223, makes it a better choice for longer shots or large game.
