I never knew ice made noises, although come to think of it, I have heard ice cubes making noises in a drinking glass from rubbing together.
Or when warm water touches them.
@@fourearwolf3315 Yes, I've heard my ice cubes squeak from that myself! So natural and spooky!
@@elithurofficial
It really is, but it’s beautiful!
The sound of ice cracking on a large body of water is truly incredible.
Fantastic!
I remember one moment in the north of Germany! It was at a time of the year when the ice was already melting and there were millions of little broken ice shelfs close to the shore.
And every moment a small wave came and moved the ice there was a sound like thousands of artificial birds where twittering.
I was surrounded by these sounds and it was such a surreal moment. The clear dark blue winter sky right before darkness with the first visible stars, the fresh and cold air, the water and the trees and this sound.
It was a moment I will never forget.
Thank you for this great video.
Thanks for that story Diderich. I have a similar memory. Unfortunately I didn't have my recorder that time. Erik
Thank you for sharing your world with us. You do great work.
Doors when you open them normally: Silent
Doors when you trying to be quiet out of fear of waking your parents: 2:29
Incredible recording! Thanks for sharing this amazing and hidden sounds of nature.Wish you all the best.Greetings from northern Franconia
Absolutely stunning! Thank you very much. This brought back great memories!
Once again great visuals. Sound of the ice is sublime. Watch your step, thin ice.
Väldigt avkopplande och stämmningsfullt. Tack Erik👍👍
You have a really real and delicate sound of nature. I congratulate Eric for his efforts.
Investment in equipment and technology is great. Fantastic~ Very good.
Härligt fotografering i motljus. Tusen tack, Erik!
You have (must) to wear HiFi Headphone, isolate yourself from environmental pollution, ho yeah close your eyes, enjoy carefully this is addictive . Thank you for explaining the stereo recording, the Jecklin effect is easily understandable, and sennheiser are the best for me anyway
Thanks Patrice. That Jecklin rig is bulky to carry around, but really worth it when you hear the result.
@@erik_normark Could you tell me Jecklin disk model/brand?
Helt fantastiskt, grymt fin ljudåtergivning och härliga bilder !!
This is an amazing video & spectacular sound! Anyone can make a video with regular sound, Everything comes together in this one; Superb lighting, scenery , weather conditions, video AND sound quality. i've watched it a few time now!...Love it!
Oj vad intressent det här var! 👍🏼 Tack!
Fantastic video Erik, thank you! I love the details of the ice moving. It's almost like singing or complaining about the pressure :) Awesome!
This is wonderful and relaxing. I love winter and ice. You did a great job.
Hej Erik! Ordered a few sounds from you. Working on some ambient music and your recordings are gonna work well with the soundscape!. I have been looking a long time for some quality recordings similar to this. Thank you for taking the time to do this properly! :)
Thank you very much for that! :) I hope it will work well. Just let me know if there is any sound in particular you would like to see more of in my portfolio. Atb Erik
Fascinating sounds Erik.
Truly awesome photography Erik. Thank you. 🤗
Nicely done. Really loved the part where the ice was almost vibrating.
As always very interesting and well done. Thanks for sharing!
That sounds truly wonderful!
Thank you for making this breathtaking video!
Oh I miss those sounds, we never get proper cold here of late..
Senheisser, Swarovski.. phoe, toe maar.. (-"

Vackert! Både ljud och bild
love all of this, earth is so alien at the same time :3
Nice job. 👍
Short and sweet! :) Who knew ice was alive, hey?! (I don't even want to know how you got that equipment way out there on the ice and did not fall through!) lol Beautiful landscape as usual...:)
Thank you! I had to pull the gear out in the ice and then drag it back in. I wouldn't had want to walk there :-)
Beautiful!
Beautiful. Great work, thanks.
Relaxing
I really Wanna see a video just like this but than with forrest sounds. That would be awesome. Nice video and learning me about the jecklin disc
Thanks. Yes that's a good idea!
Nice
Awesome, Could be some usefull sound for ambient music/soundscape!
Nice. I would've loved to have pressed some contact mics onto the ice as well.
I would have layed the mic on the ice to make an earrape video out of ice
Quite interesting sounds out there
Awesome sound!
Really amazing dude!
High Erik, to the sound was this nice light. To live without this light is possible but senceless. Kindly Fiete
Can't wait for it to become winter again so I can go watch these a few km from my home.
Not a fan of the whole 2pm sunset part that comes with though. 5:25
That was amazing! spijkerpoes sent me your way for your sound recordings. This didn'r dissapoint.
Thank you! Very glad to hear that :)
Very, very interesting! You anyway have always a good sound in your videos. Do you use an external micro with your small cam? Hälsning från Schweiz - Heini
Thanks Heini. Sometimes I do, but mostly I just rely on the built in mics. I usually add nature sounds in post and have built up an audio archive with sounds to pick from. I sometimes bring a separate audio recorder with me, like on this one. But that is much work.
Amazing Sound! Excellent Video, you do a wonderful job of capturing both! ... Do u take most videos with your SONY action camera?... The quality is very good.
I dont get the english Subtitles though... Are there subtitles on this video???
DG King: You have to turn them on. Your video will have either a cog symbol or three vertical dots (depending how you are watching). Click that and opt to turn subtitles / closed captioning on. I hope that helps!
Tackar. Ja det blir härliga ljud av det :)
Crazy
Awesome vid Erik. Wondering what you made your Jecklin disk from? Did you use a plywood core? Acoustic foam under that fabric or just open cell foam? Really enjoying watching your content! Thanks
Yes plywood core and some type of foam, I don't quite remember what it was I used when I made it :D Thanks Peter.
@@erik_normark thanks Erik 👍👍
Eric, I'd really love to understand what you are saying in this video. Can you add English or French or German subtitles? The sound you add to your videos is just amazing.
There are subtitles if you click the subtitle-button in the player. Thanks Colman!
Beautiful recording. This is one I keep coming back to. I'm looking to build a Jecklin rig myself, what kind of mic stand are you using?
It's a standard tripod. Thanks!
that sennheisers take really good sound. How is Fostex compared to ZOOM h5? less self noise? thanks for sharing
Yes they are really great! The Fostex is better than the H5, but very big and heavy, and old. Today the Zoom F6 is a better alternative. Thanks Gregor
@@erik_normark thanks
Hello Erik, what kind of shock mount do you used for the mics?
Now I'm craving some ice to chew
Hi Erik, what recorder do you use? I have a Zoom H2 and it works pretty good, unfortunately the Jecklin effect cannot be recorded to it with internal microphones.
Cheers from Germany, Bernd
Hi, I have an old but pretty nice Fostex fr2le recorder. It's big and heavy unfortunately.
Hi Erik, weight is always good, because it stands for quality. I know this from my old High-End Audio hardware...:-)
The Fostex is still a pretty expensive unit. What microphones do you use? I know it´s not easy to connect external microphones to my Zoom, but I would give it a try.
👍❤
Any idea of the recording material he is using?
its in the description
Hej Erik, fin video.
@@erik_normark okej tack
Sounds like a door creaking 😂😂
A frostex recorder would have even been better ...
What kind of tripod is that?
