Hi, I am in a water rescue organization and when we have an unclear sonar image, we send down a remotely operated diving robot to clarify the situation. These things are not cheap, but neither are good sonar units. Increases in any case the safety because you can reduce unnecessary dives. Only as a tip. ;)
A tip? HELLO NO! Mr. Sparks needs to step up to the plate. Do some research, Dave. Find some outfit to sponsor the use of a ROV, but you'll be paying the driver and the technicians! Solicit different companies on the premise that you will provide video of your experience with their product and you intend to buy the best, simple competition! What about military rated equipment, who makes the stuff, for them. Do your Googling on a Laptop, can save to an easy folder on the desktop. Refer them to this URL so that they can better appreciate what it is that you do for your community and the challenges you face. Include reference to your other videos of underwater retrievals. 😶🌫👀🖖
TOTALLY AGREE!! We here up in Canada use a $50. submersible camera on a tether and lower it down to the target to get a great eye on what it actually is. I don't understand why people even use many thousand dollar submersibles to send down when you can just lower an amazon grade camera and see it real time on night vision?! A couple hundred feet of cable is the biggest hurdle to get past. Cheers!
This is really needed. Not everything can be a win and you guys showing real life reminds us all that homeruns are achievable but sometimes you strike out. What we'll continue to watch for, is how you keep pressing on even after using all those resources and coming up empty handed. Keep up the good work.
Well, that explains why Hans was driving the boat back to the yard in yesterday's video, getting stuck with the flat tyres. Hope your kid's thing went off alright and you got back in time.
I've been following Doug when he first arrived on the diving team stuff back in the day. I subbed on his channel right after he got started. Just saw him out with Chaos Divers. That was a blast seeing him diving cars again. Glad you brought him on to dive for you.

Boats, the awesome Doug Bishop, diving & recovery - my favourite kind of episode. Let's GO!!! I agree with Dave - "That sucks" Looking forwards to the next installment. Thanks guys, a great effort.
Hi Dave, interesting video, thanks!! If you plan on doing more underwater search and rescue work maybe you should consider investing in a Tow-able scanning sonar unit. easily pulled behind any boat at whatever depth you need and sends data to a computer that provides a detailed hi-res image of the bottom and any objects down there. a bit pricey for recreational use but probably a bargain compared to several days operating and transporting costs for all the equipment used to create a video like this. fun video, thanks again , better luck next time! keep up the great work!
I wouldnt call the video a fail of any sort. You still provide us with good stuff to watch every single time so from my point of view, nothing to complain about here!
Bummer outcome but still a cool video to watch! I'd watch you guys drive for hours or just mowing your lawns! You all are fun, happy, friendly guys. And so patient! And I love how excited you all get when it's time to go to work. Bless ya. 🙏
Wow. I would have thought that by now the Army boat would have a killer towed sonar array. That boat is the ultimate recovery boat. It needs a really good towed side scan.
Being that you didn't find anything shows why that lake is so clean! It's not a lose but a great job on the people who have been to the lake!🖒 Great video!!!💪☝😎🙏
it can’t always go up… but this video was definitely not a failure. This video showed us what effort goes into the videos and sometimes luck is not on your side, but next time it certainly is👍🏼.

Two things. Buy some first rate sonar gear for the big green boat. Second, remote controlled underwater drone. With such good visibility in that water you can check out the sonar hits before sending the diver down.
Doug shot down my fiberglass magnet joke before I even got to say it. Thumbs up to Hans for finding an image of the "secret boat nobody knows about" sinking on the interwebs. Searching outside the Dodecahedron, box, whatever.

I was thinking the same thing. There gotta be drone subs that have a long cord or something that’ll go 130 foot. And if the water is so clear seems like it would work.
Doug is a beauty. It must piss him off to still be shown as partnered up with Jared in the AWP videos. I hope that guy pays for what he did to his young cousin.
