I cried in the movie during the love between Maria and Tony at the chapel, one heart. I had this music and song at my wedding. The two made it so real. Absolutely beautiful by Ansel and Rachel.
Thank you Rita for answering my burning question when I first heard Ansel sing "Something's Coming." I could see it on Rita's face, that gaze, beaming with pride and in awe of being there and hearing him sing a song from the movie she once starred. Nostalgia mixed with joy. I wondered what she was thinking. He sang it pure and honest and I too was wowed by his voice.
His Voice AND look ....is just GORGEOUS, as is this whole INCREDIBLE new Movie Version! I would be beaming TOO, if Ansel was Singing to me like that!! LOL!
I loved the original so much that I couldn't believe that I enjoyed the new movie even more! The talent of each of these actors, and the supporting cast, is amazing! I loved the new choreography too, just as good as the original's. And when I heard Rachel Zegler and Ansel Elgort sing, I was transported. AMAZING! And Mike Faist should have been nominated for an Academy Award, he is a STAR!
Quite underrated fact that has been floating around but Im glad SAG=AFTRA covered this - almost everyone in the cast has deep musical theatre background (with 2 of them being OGs). This film doesnt just reimagine an old tale but shows off and celebrates the extreme depth, commitment and talent that musical theatre actors/actresses carry. Often these guys are underlooked/undervalued because the nature of musical theatre doesnt carry as much 'depth' in its art form and people strike it as cheesy and slightly outdated. Edit: I make this comment as there have been many musical theatre films ruined or not done justice as directors have chosen to cast big name actors versus musical theatre actors. I dont need to tell you which ones, Im sure yall in the comments can think of many.

It is a “lovely interview “! After all the negativity I’ve read online, it’s sweet to hear kind appreciation for Angel Elgort. He is wonderful as Tony!
I agree! He was everything tony's character should be to me. He was charming, charismatic, soft and tender. He had a hopefulness and true pure honesty in his undying love for Maria. I believe this Tony had more substance to his character than the 1961 version.
Can we just talk about how much of an absolute gentleman Mike is? helping rita and rachel up on the stage, I just love him so much
He's wonderful
he’s so sweet i love him
i saw that toooo!! i was like wow i love this man!

What a lovely interview! They have such love and pride in one another, and the process seemed so playful. I long to be a part of something like that.
Such a beautiful cast. The picture is phenomenal. I love to watch each of you. So many of you are irreplaceable. I vote Best Picture!!!
mike is so sweet helping them up
The cast is stellar in this Spielberg vision. I hope they win best ensemble at the Screen Actor’s Guild Awards.
Me too! Hoping and praying it’s the most deserved out of all noms
Not even nominated.
@@jenniferwise8515WHAT a SHAME, too!

1000% agree!!
11:36 Mike you were literally a newsie-
EXACTLY
i can’t believe they didn’t mention newsies anywhere in this
@@bridget2029exactly! They could’ve at least mentioned it when talking about original cast member
How did they not get nominated for Best Ensemble?!!!
Heck yeah!
THAT'S what I want to know?!
UNBELIEVABLE!! 🥺😢😭
Ansels voice is amazing, so moving...
ABSOLUTELY agree!! ☺️
SO underated and QUITE unfairly, I might add, too!
Wow loved this conversation so much I was excited it’s so long but at the end I couldn’t help but feel it wasn’t long enough!

How tall is Ansel Elgort?
I think he’s around 6’4”.
1.90m (6,2ft)

6’3!
6’4”
It's possible these things happen

Normally I would laugh at Rita’s having to sleep with ansel joke but NOT RIGHT NOW RITA. 🤦♀️
It was funny.
Sry to be that person but knife rhymes with life and dove rhymes with love
is still fine like moonshine Caliente🇵🇷🇵🇷🇵🇷🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸
On rewatch I’m struck by the irony of Ansel saying Robbins and Laurents were honored when their work was discarded by Peck and Kushner
' I'm the first Latina to play Maria on screen' and the second to play Maria on screen
The Maria from the 1961 version was a white actress in makeup, she wasn't Latina.
@@jp9707 that’s the point of the comment?
