Mike Faist's idea of Riff putting his head to the gun was absolutely genius. Like Mike said, Riff's nihilism is perfectly stated in that scene. Thank you Mike Faist
This man is so kind, well spoken, articulate, and intelligent, one can’t help but fall for him. I know he doesn’t like the attention but his incredible standout performance as Riff truly deserves all the acclaim and accolades! I’d love to sit down and talk with him.
He does seems nice and kind but you should never fall for the 'actor who doesn't like attention' act lol. All of them love attention and it's the most self-obsessed that take it to the next level of trying to appear that they're totally above all of that.
@@samsong24 I've heard him say it's a self preservation thing to not deep dive into what the critics think, good or bad. I'm sure he doesn't mind if good reviews filter back to him, but I feel like I know where he's coming from with the not going too deep into what everyone is saying.
@@neonnights3955 You have fallen for his act lol. He is desperate for approval. All actors are!!! They are narcissists. That's not to say that they can't be conflicted by that. I feel that Jessica Lange has grappled with that her entire career.
This young man is remarkable--very smart, perceptive, professional--and on top of that he's a real sweetheart, kind, funny--who could not love him? Congratulations, Mike Faist!
His performance was amazing in this film, so believable as Riff,he commanded attention in every scene he was in. How he wasn't nominated for an award is beyond me
Nihilism. What an intelligent actor and insightful choice. This kid gave the character of Riff so much substance. I look forward to watching his career take off. And his two (equally talented) friends were right. I can't imagine anyone else making that character as interesting as he did.
I've watched so many WSS cast/Spielberg interviews since seeing the film. Christopher is the only person who asked the question I would have asked Mike about his mind-blowing portrayal about Riff in the way he did: The impact of Riff's refusal to change - not only to accept that Tony's wanted a better life and that meant not returning to the Jets which led to Mike's comparison of family members at Thanksgiving who love you but selfishly do. Then there was the reality that the "turf" the Jets were fighting over was gone already, all of the conflict at the end of the day with the Sharks over turf was a big waste. Thank you.
I can’t count how many times I’ve watched WSS, The movie is brilliant, all the cast is awesome, you Mike, stand out, like all the movie stars of the past, you won that screen. I look forward following your career.
I can't explain how much I love this young man.....so talented,so smart,so deep,so humble, so sexy....Mike you' re a tresure to protect and you deserve so much success and love and happiness jn your life 😍😚
West Side Story 2021 is the first version I’ve ever seen of WSS and I just clung onto Riff. I know he’s has terrible racism issues but he’s a fantastically played character by Mike Faist.

Mike Faist is destined for greatness. He is an amazing actor. He was perfection as Riff.
He is such a find this year. His charisma jumped off the screen and, I really hope his success in this role/movie leads to other great things.

I was blown away by his dancing in the gym! And just everything in his performance. I’m wearing out my HBO MAX subscription.
Have become a Mike Faist fan. What a great performance in “WSS.”

I love his honesty, and how he made a family with the cast. Everyone will remember him.

Yesss🙌
HIS VOICE AAHHHHH
He was great in the film. Don't think he'll get an Oscar nom but hope to see him in more movies.
Ill think he’ll get a nom along with David Alvarez and maybe even win it! The academy loves Spielberg
Mike's been getting various nominations for Riff, so I wouldn't prematurely count him out of Oscar chances.
I think he has a great chance of not only getting nominated, but winning.
@@idaf3028 and Ariana DeBose! She must win!!!
@@hilarymears2839 100% she should, if she doesn’t it’s a snub.
