- On this episode of Street You Grew Up On, Kerry Washington is keeping it “slowed and throwed” as she journeys down south to Mo-City (Missouri City) and H-Town (Houston) Texas; the stomping grounds of the remarkable Kendrick Sampson. His story begins in a small town as a nerdy, funny, quirky kid with a big imagination and curiosity to understand the world. He introduces us to his village of “misfits” that embraced his uniqueness and encouraged him to be a free thinker. Driven by many passions, Kendrick’s path eventually leads him to acting and activism where he channels his spirit to be a voice for marginalized people.

Ahhh Kendrick Sampson is on here! Love to see another Houstonian. H-TOWN! This was my favorite episode yet. Sooo good!
Realizing that you believed his Insecure character’s personality was his personality but actually he’s completely opposite lol I was like, is he high? 😅
i love how this series make people reflect on their childhood memories then you see the gratitude and joy in their faces as they express parts of their childhood they've might have forgotten about.
I wonder how much Wale would open up if he came.
I love love love to see Houston people make it big and still be SO HOUSTON!🤘🏾 Fellow Mo-City girl here!

Yes my favorite was Jane Fonda 💙
He is such an exceptional being!
I really loved this episode.🤎🤎
I’m good friends with his brother Quentin Sampson (an amazing recording artists) having had a chance to visit their home and meet his mom, it’s beautiful to see him articulate so well his experiences without putting anyone down. It’s an art of speaking to speak openly while being conscious of how family may be affected
This was sooo good! Thank you! 💜💜
The honeysuckle is the truth. That’s a summer growing up in the south in the 80’s.

Love this interview with Kendrick! It definitely hits home as someone raised with southern roots. I love the OD to speaking power to the fears of our younger self and the evolution of the “quirks” that consecrate our passions and work 🫶🏽
That last part on leadership HIT
