Possibly the most Welsh thing I've ever witnessed was Kelly Jones and Richard Jones being interviewed by Steve Jones and talking about Tom Jones. As far as I'm aware, none of those four people are related.
Same size feet was released in 1997 whilst Hindu times was released 2002 . There is however a clip of Noel playing the riff at a gig in 1996. Kelly Jones has lightheartedly admitted to and I quote "nicking" bits of tunes and riffs of other artists. That said I struggle to believe he stole the riff for same size feet. I genuinely believe it's a coincidence . 2 of the best British bands in past 25 years and they're all friends . It is what it is
a rare live version of a great song, where it captures the quality of the original, and the fury and excitement of a live performance, without sounding like they're drunk and half-assed.
why is it that it's took so long for ppl to recognise the talent these guys have had as i remember when this album came out and didn't make it even into the top 10 back when i was a young chap in 1997, i knew back then the phonics were one of the best bands we had seen or heard for years, it's about time!! but that album deserved to be no 1 when it was relesed. it's in my top 10 even now!!!
since years its a favourit song of mine ! i love it ! greets from South Korea ... hope to be back in Germany soon...Stereophonics are 5 Stars deluxe !!!
@xPhonicsGirlx same here, gotta see both nights! especially hearing the whole of performance and cocktails played! always wanted to hear plastic california live!
WGA @ the apollo,, fuck im so up fot it,, gona drink all afternoon,, get a travelodge booked,, had to get my tickets off E Bay,, but we got em,, bring it on
funnily enough, when hindu times came out there was a whole argument about oasis stealing the riff! but yeah your right, stereophonics wrote the song over 10 years ago :)
i saw an oasis interview and the galligers both paid tribute to the phonics and said the phonics inspired them from this song, :] just food for thought cheers butt
@zaksdad2082 another guy that supports great music m8 bring them all on the fonics are the top o te british bands well outdo oasis n blur, pulp etc fonics forever
The two songs have no similarity at all. what are you guys talking about? Just because the riff sounds similar for 2 seconds, you say Oasis copying them?? The melodies and the meanings of the songs are totally different, they are both great songs.

its very similar, but its not the same, to say oasis lifted it off stereophonics is looking too much into it, if any other band had done hindu times it would not have been suggested
stereophonics should really take it as a compliment because oasis only ever steal from the best bands. god forbid if oasis ever done anything original.
but I thought Noel Gallagher was a singer/songwriting genius (or so Oasis fans tell me) - you can't base a career from lifting parts of other songs whilst proclaiming your genius surely?
He looks like a M ....... ...................O ...........................N ...........................K ...........................E ...........................Y........
I just read a load of the old comments on here comparing Oasis to these ,, sorry but haaaaa,, dont even go there, dont get me wrong i kinda like some Oasis songs,, but talent wise,, they are a pub band compared to these guys

I'm not being funny, but those of you with a brief musical knowledge will know that there are only a few chords or notes that exist on a guitar, eventually in 50-100 years most riffs, songs etc will have been exhausted, it's a fact, things will sound the same from time to time. No shame in it should embrace it.
word gets around, best album ever.
Every song a single
It is a very good album, but I like all their other albums better.
"I get up, when im down" haha. Your on it Lad.
Possibly the most Welsh thing I've ever witnessed was Kelly Jones and Richard Jones being interviewed by Steve Jones and talking about Tom Jones. As far as I'm aware, none of those four people are related.
And Ryan Giggs
Remains my favourite stereophonics song to this day, unreal💙
Big respect for Stereophonics for playing the Hindu Times demo from '97
Pa ha ha, big respect for oasis nicking this riff and getting away with it!
You can't be serious surely.
@@martintube24in San Francisco 1996 noel actually played the riff first!
Exactly

best phonics song ever IMO. it's a shame it never got much play, but all of Word Gets Around is excellent.
amazing...seen them live many times but I wish I'd seen Same Size feet played live....one of my favourites :-))
Going to get shot down here but this is their best album. Love the energy and rawness. Brilliant.
Absolutely amazing performance best of that night in my opinion, just so much energy. RIP Stu you fucking legend!
a rare live version of a great song, where it captures the quality of the original, and the fury and excitement of a live performance, without sounding like they're drunk and half-assed.
At their best here, this was an awesome gig!😃🏴👍🏻
Did they ever acknowledged the fact they got ripped off by oasis or did they just let it slide??
there's a whole website dedicated to "the guitar genius" Noel Gallagher and all the songs he plundered in his career.
I commented to someone else, but noel actually played the riff first in 1996 San Francisco!
Stuart's drums just sound so much better than anyone else.
why is it that it's took so long for ppl to recognise the talent these guys have had as i remember when this album came out and didn't make it even into the top 10 back when i was a young chap in 1997, i knew back then the phonics were one of the best bands we had seen or heard for years, it's about time!! but that album deserved to be no 1 when it was relesed. it's in my top 10 even now!!!
The best live performance of this track. Class
I love this album.
As Oasis make the best songs. That's it.
This was brilliant live at Carlisle on July 9th too!

@carandres15 yep, and I don't think that I would feel offensed if a dude like Gallagher take one of my songs as an influence, right ? :D
this is my faverate phonics song, and i think it was stuarts faverate aswell.
R.I.P Stu
AND NOEL USED GUITAR LIKE THIS ..
Brilliant.
best one on that album
in wikipedia says this song is similar to "the hindu times"
I don't think so.
Hello, fans of stereophonics!! is a great band;)
sounds similar to teenage kicks by the undertones
awesome
The Hindu Times does have the same riff as this - I'm suprised more songs don't considering it's such a simple phrase (effective though!)
@zeigalmonkey dam ryt!! they should re release all their albums!!!!
hope they play it glasgow 3rd dec :P
Love that distorted guitar at 3:30, damn.

fan of sterophonics and oasis and yet i still don't see how the hindu times sounds like same sized feet. i think noel just nicked an indian riff
funnily enough, when hindu times came out there was a whole argument about oasis stealing the riff! but yeah your right, stereophonics wrote the song over 10 years ago :)
chiquillos ¡¡¡¡ esis tiempo : )
You should.
Ive been 6 times and it gets better every time
i saw an oasis interview and the galligers both paid tribute to the phonics and said the phonics inspired them from this song, :] just food for thought cheers butt

crikey, that riff is exactly the same as Hindu Times by Oasis. Guessing phonics got there first though.
I like Oasis, but talent wise dont even mention them in the same breath as the phonics, coz they dont even come close, sorry but so true
Your right sterophonics are a thousand times worse than oasis
CYMRU AM BYTH!
fair play too ya
too be honest whether oasis stole the riff or not it doesnt matter all great bands have stole abit of material here an there
@Pacheco591 Agreed... either way, Oasis has no originality though. There's that guy on youtube who finds a rip Oasis does on just about every song...
i dont speak your language but yeah hindu times does sound a lot like this
better song than hindu times too.. he doesnt have to go "oh no he just cant seeeyaaaaaaayyyyyyyeeeeeeeeee" to make it good

WAY better :)
That is your personal opinion
stereophonics should really take it as a compliment because oasis only ever steal from the best bands. god forbid if oasis ever done anything original.
ha,ha,ha - ouch !
what ABBA song out of interest?

This song has absolutely nothing to do with the Hindu Times, other than ignorant rumours. Period.
Kelly looks like hes 14 yrs old... =P
@codywrite actually hindu times came out after this song, so Oasis are copying them...
The thing is that Noel Gallagher admitted that he steals, so stop the whole oasis plagiarizing discussions in every song that they supposedly stole.
but I thought Noel Gallagher was a singer/songwriting genius (or so Oasis fans tell me) - you can't base a career from lifting parts of other songs whilst proclaiming your genius surely?
revol148 Noel Gallagher himself admits he’s a shit guitarist you plum
But Oasis made it sound BETTER
yeh oasis totally ripped this off

No way stereophonics are a thousand times better than oasis
Whatever. the hindu times is better
Yes mate, how Noel Gallagher had the bare faced cheek to copy the riff is fookin scandalous.
oasis ?? who the fuck are they ??
lmao!
A much much bigger band than this one
The band that makes fastest selling album in UK ever since 1997 and still hold the charts (still more than Adele her album sells count for 7 days while Oasis sells count for only 3 days)
The band that over 2 million peoples finding for their tickets to their gigs in 96 It's the time where you can't buy it online yet and only 250,000 lucky bastards got in
There's alot more thing I'd like to type but this should be enough XD XD
In popularity maybe, but not talent or longevity! Regardless, two of the best bands of the last 25 years.
don't worry they will reach you in Wales soon enough - are you still stuck in 1981?
I'm not being funny, but those of you with a brief musical knowledge will know that there are only a few chords or notes that exist on a guitar, eventually in 50-100 years most riffs, songs etc will have been exhausted, it's a fact, things will sound the same from time to time.
