I do 60 stitches on 2.5 mm needles for my Patons Kroy yarn. They fit perfectly! Patons Kroy and Opal are my favorite sock yarns.

Thank you for mentioning this! I ended up decreasing down to 64 stitches here and it's working really well. It's good to know now moving forward with this yarn. ❤️

I love that the needle case has wool felt! They used to use that to oil their steel needles and keep them from rusting!

I love Patons Kroy sock yarn - it's truly my favorite. Their self-striping yarn is unmatched, but you are 100% right that it's at least sport weight. I love it because I'm such a tight knitter that I can use slightly bigger needles and it goes faster, PLUS like you said socks made from it are so resilient.

Yes, totally. I feel like it makes a great boot sock fabric! And you don't feel so bad about shuffling around the house in them. ❤️

Another lovely, cheerful podcast. When you share how you are stepping out of the comfort zone of following a knitting pattern and trying something on your own, you inspire others to do the same. Love the saffron colourway and I am looking forward to your shop update next weekend.

My theory on falling socks: the greater the circumference between two points, the faster the slip. Also, on the ‘Frankenstein’ sweater, I don’t think you did a true tying of pieces together so much as drawing different techniques from different pattern like you might from a knit stitch library.

One of my first pair of socks was done in Paton's Kroy--on US#1.5 Hiya Hiya Sharps DPNs. I still have the scars. LOL I love the yarn, though. It made lovely, thick socks that--though they are too big because of the yarn weight and using a larger needle--I tend to wear as house socks, often over another pair. Thanks for your update. I always enjoy the visit. 🥰

Taylor, I so enjoyed your episode today & literally just sent a note the other day through your website about designing patterns! Given your sweater & now socks - it would be really interesting to hear your insights on pattern designs. It’s a “bucket list” item for me to do this - I was thinking a sock pattern, but with so many different basic sock patterns out there it’s hard to imagine a way my “base” would be unique even if my colorwork was original. I imagine that would be the same if you wanted to create some cool lace work or cable motifs - but the basic socks are still similar stitch counts & pull from existing techniques (I.e.: short row heel, afterthought heel, toe up, cuff down, etc). What would you recommend? How do you know if enough of the pattern is “yours” to publish it? Thanks for your advice! Can’t wait to see how your socks turn out. We are doing a sock KAL on your Ravelry page right now, too! 👍

Tayler - Re: your comments on wanting textured sweaters. The only adult size sweater I've made (hoping for #2 this year) was the Little Waves by Gudrun Johnston and I love the finished project, as does my husband for whom I knit it. Now, perhaps an all-over cable-y cardigan in a rustic charcoal gray wool was not the best 1st sweater project, but that will be a potential future episode for my podcast.

I have found it difficult to find this breed and was excited when you mentioned that working with it has been a special project of yours.

I knit my dad a pair of socks in West Yorkshire Spinnery I believe, which is 35% BFL. I also looked at paton’s Kroy but i wasn’t sure I wanted something that heavy since I was going to hold it double.

Possibly equally unpopular opinion--I love all my merino socks! 😁 Love, love, love! Disclaimer the first: I am not doing anything like hiking in my merino socks. Disclaimer the second: My stupid hypersensitive skin can't handle anything but the softest fibers--merino, polwarth, sometimes bfl. People keep telling me to try targhee but I'm hesitant to invest. (Some years ago I knit myself a lovely colorwork beret in Jaimeson's and I couldn't wear it for more than 15 minute without my forehead turning into a red itchy mess. I was so upset.)

It's such a beautiful sweater and as someone who is still very new to knitting, I couldn't not follow a pattern for a sweater and I'd buy that pattern in a heartbeat. Maybe still credit those other patterns as inspiration in the pattern? Just me hoping.

Interesting Shanna! Thank you so much for letting me know. I'm realizing there's a learning curve to the Kroy. ❤️

Why not call it the Princess as an homage to the musician Prince. It is now the "Sweater formally known..." and he was "the artist formally..."! Yes, I am showing my age. I did not think LITTLE RED CORVETTE would really work for that sweater! I am from Dallas, live in Houston now, and I had never heard of KNIT DALLAS! I have always gone north to Farmersville, TX to get yarn at FIBER CIRCLE. They have everything and anything you could ever want and the staff is so helpful! I will have to check out KNIT DALLAS. Thanks for the suggestion. Thanks for your podcast!

I also love a sport weight yarn for socks! iirc One Sock is written for Amble by The Fibre Co, which is more of a sport than a fingering weight.

I agree Taylor, texture is the thing I'm drawn to this season. I'm trying to decide in a dk sweater with texture. I'm been looking for at least 4 months. I really enjoy all the information your episodes provide.😁

I hope you write up a pattern for the sweater. I bought some fisherman wool in anticipation.
