I’m from central Wisconsin and Nope! Never had or heard of eating tuna like that, spring water tuna is still drained and we use it to make tuna salad, finely diced onion, celery, sometimes with a couple boiled eggs and a diced pickle. We usually will use tuna in oil for tuna casserole but not always. The one thing we do is squeeze drain and then run cool water rinse and squeeze again. Absolutely no soupy tuna. ❤

Back in the olden days before they decided people were getting too much fat in their diets, I used to like tuna. Then they started packing it in water and it tasted like faintly fishy wet cotton balls. I don't care for tuna any more but I'd be willing to try it in oil and see if it tastes the way I remember....
