    Use tuna in oil for hot applications (putanesca). Use tuna in water for cold dishes (tuna salad).

    Mamma! You have to DRAIN the tuna whether it's oil or water. Drain all the liquid off and your tuna salad will be 100x better :)

    I’m from central Wisconsin and Nope! Never had or heard of eating tuna like that, spring water tuna is still drained and we use it to make tuna salad, finely diced onion, celery, sometimes with a couple boiled eggs and a diced pickle. We usually will use tuna in oil for tuna casserole but not always. The one thing we do is squeeze drain and then run cool water rinse and squeeze again. Absolutely no soupy tuna. ❤

      I'm from across the river in St. Paul 👍🏼😀 We definitely drain our tuna for everything! I love tuna casserole 🥘 that was my favorite as a kid, unfortunately my partner doesn't like tuna so I will make it for myself for lunch and pack that for a couple of days! When I make tuna salad I will make my partner egg salad and put eggs in mine too! I haven't heard anyone else that puts eggs in theirs, cool! Hope you are having a wonderful day and are staying warm!     Oh... Josh please don't blame this on Wisconsin. Lol. I live in Green Bay, WI and have never heard of this pineapple tuna sandwich. We have Booyah (chicken and oxtail soup), cheese curds, brats, wonderful cheeses, Seroogy's chocolate, brandy Old Fashioneds. We have some good food here. 😊

      Back in the olden days before they decided people were getting too much fat in their diets, I used to like tuna. Then they started packing it in water and it tasted like faintly fishy wet cotton balls.
      I don't care for tuna any more but I'd be willing to try it in oil and see if it tastes the way I remember....

    years ago, you could only get tuna in oil now that they're trying to make things healthier. You can get it in water. The oil was just something to help. Keep it in the can and keep it fresh. But 40 years ago, you could only get it and oil no water.

    Whether in oil or water drain the tuna. Put it in bowls for your dogs they will love it and it is good for their coats.❤❤❤❤❤
