Thank you, this has been a struggle, my parks have been so small with just a few rides and already at the max. I knew paths had to do something with it and you proved that is correct. Will be following your plan. Thanks again
Ever since Michael brought that up in his Oswald Eugene counter video, I made sure to use the grid as often as possible in my parks. Really helps having another channel talk about it in an own video, so more people get to know this feature. I hope this helps seeing one or two rides more per park 😅
Awesome tip Matt! Definitely a great tool to maximize the efficiency of the counter. Use the grid and then go back to the corners with the add/delete trick to remove the hard 90 degree corners
This is a great video Matty. I think current gen consoles will benefit from this tip feature greatly. Because of the way the game is done here if, we can cut that in half that is going to save us alot in space to do extra things in our parks.
Great video Matty! Another thing to make note of is I never use priority lanes because you have to use 2m paths and it kills the counter. Also having not gridded queues look alot better but it is a drain on the counter. If you have 15 rides/coasters in the park the extra queue percentage of a non grided path can easily take up an extra 3-5 percent. that is not including having to make the exit path as well
Thank you for the tip! I have one question though, have you or anyone else worked out if covering all the squared edges neatly with flat tile pieces equates to less Oswald percentage taken up than if we were to path without a grid?
And when you make your queue paths, 4m paths look awkward connecting to the station but it saves on the percentage. Also I know cattle pen queues are not the nicest looking but the non-graded queues take up alot more percentage so try and keep queues on a grid and shorter queues as well. I hope you are enjoying the game!
Oh wow! Thanks for this. I did some experimenting right when console came out and I didn't catch this. One thing I noticed you missed (or didn't mention) Paths with curbs take less % and patch with curbs and rails take even less %
Fantastic! I knew that the wider the path the less percentage but I never knew how much or that the grid helps too. Thanks for this I will definitely be using it.
I will never be able to figure out the pathing in Planet Coaster. It can be simple one second and extremely frustrating the next. It could be improved a lot.
@@IronMatty kind of, still got one spotlight to watch and then Chrissy’s vids, but this was too good not to watch! I deleted a long path and it gave me two percent on the PlayStation 4, it must be all the AI connected to patching that takes up percentage. Additionally, a boat flat ride going most the way round the map only takes up 3% on PlayStation 4, do what you will with that info 😆
Hey Matty I love to dream away when i look at your video’s. Could you consider making a series of real basic tutorial videos for older people? I would love to improve my skills. Thank you so much for your work.
Oh wow what a lovely comment. Thank you Bruno that means a lot to me, as for the tutorial, I’m not sure in what manner I would approach it. Whilst I think it’s a good idea I’m not sure the appeal it would have - I may have to spitball some different ideas down and see what I can come up with for you
Thanks Matty!! I have a question though: i play Planco on the PS4. I'm thinking of buying a PS5, just for Planco, if the Oswald-counter is going slower on PS5. Do you know that? If you punt the same rides in de park, the counter on ps5 goes slower? Hope to hear from you! Greetings from Holland, Bart.
Yes on PS5 u do indeed have more %. It’s not as great as you think though. It’s only around 33% more than the PS4 version which is disappointing. But despite the the PS5 is great - such a better console that the 4
Super clickable video mate and the views show it. Your really rolling now, Saw the top 10 parks is still smashing it to. Great job keep at it mate you really deserve it!
So wait... it saves space, to play it more like Roller Coaster Tycoon? Well I can't say it's weird because who knows why the coding is there, might be a reason. But is an interesting coding-choice. Kudos for finding it. I'm sure it'll help many a person.
Interesting..... it might not really be worth the effort but just for the sake of science I wonder how much percentage you could free up if you were to apply this knowledge to your oasis park, or even eden gardens, so you can get an idea of how much more you might be able to cram in on parks that were previously hitting their upper limit
For those that are interested, ive done a quick check on Planet zoo. On a flat map on sandbox. 1 path from one side of the map to the other. A 4 meter wide path is 8%. A 8/10 meter wide path is 6% A grided path ( but only with square edges) is both 5% for 4 meter and 8/10 meters Interestingly Null paths are exactly as above. Great work Iron Matty, useful info that works on a different game 👍
It is still just absolute rubbish compared to the computer versions. What attracted me to the game is all of the crazy stuff I saw such as an indoor "Alien" themed ride that was over 10 min... and a bunch of stuff. I knew that console would not be able to necessarily do what computer could, but I was shocked to have just a couple of buildings and rides and be at 60+%... I struggle with being at OS user, and shortly after I purchased it for PS5, it became kind of compatible with Mac but was not too stable. Now, it works pretty well with certain things in place, but having it for PS5, I do not want to purchase it again for anything else. I am honestly even scared to get the counter over around 80% because it is my understanding that there is danger in bricking a console with it being "near capacity," and that is a bit too vague for me. I let my imagination run wild and wanted to do a cool Final Fantasy themed coaster a couple of years ago as well as a DK themed coaster among other things. I was able to kind of create a couple of coasters, but on console, we will never be able to have any of the parks that look decent like the ones on computer... even just with basic scenery around the park and decoration. I have been upset with it. I downloaded it again a couple of days ago after not playing it for over a year and have been trying again while struggling. It was one of the first games I purchased for PS5, and it went ok for the first few days, but that is because I was just figuring out how it worked. After that, it has been a disappointment. Do you have any tips for building in general to lower the counter or know of any games that are better? I used to play Rollercoaster Tycoon on previous consoles, but when I saw what Planet Coaster was capable of (obviously on computer), I was attracted to it. It looked much better than anything else. It is a shame too. Any of the "decorative" or scenery options on the console version are few and/or terrible. There are barely any I want to use. I don't want to pay for another add-on or bundle either. I swear at one point, I saw that there was a version released later for PS5 that was just strictly a "Sandbox" version without everything else, but I have failed to find it again. I saw it on the PS Store. I should have bought it. That would allow for more without the space other stuff takes up. It is sad to know that I will never be able to do 1/10th of what someone can on the computer. I didn't expect it to be that bad...
