Our remote off grid cabin is far from cell service, internet or electricity. I am trying out Starlink as a solution. I am using solar power to run it. Trying to find out how many watts of solar panels I need and LiFePO4 batteries to run it when the sun isn’t shining or it is cloudy. So far Starlink is working well here where we have never had internet.

Im pretty sure you are my favorite UA-cam channel now.
Wow what a beautiful place
I am off grid and for refrigeration i run a 7 cu ft chest freezer with a programmable temperature controller the Inkbird ITC-308. The whole setup cost 230 usd and averages 30 watts. Very Happy with it.
That truly is a beautiful place to work!😊
America is a beautiful country!
I'm glad UA-cam recommended me this channel!
Greetings from Croatia from Kris 😎
Yeah, it is pretty neat some of the things they have going on nowadays.
Thanks, Wilson.
That’s a whole bunch of useful info. Thanks for putting it together.
What an incredible property! Thanks for sharing it with us! 👍
Fun activity in preparation for the winter: convert a gas/diesel generator to run on gasified wood. This was done with a lot of cars here in Sweden during the second world war. They would have this little gasifier trailer behind them and a hose to bring the CO and other gases to the engine.
We need more ranch in our lives!
Thanks for all the very cool information, I have been intrested in stuff like this for awhile now but to cheap/poor to actually start doing it.
Lovely grounds!
The problem with Startlink is that it was built off the back of a large grant from the government and those initial satellites that were launched will need to be replaced soon... who is going to pay for the next ones?
Like many others I run my off grid Starlink from 12 volt so eliminating the inverter. My generation 2 version uses about 40 - 45 watts. Your Gen 3 is or as efficient as but you would still use a lot less power than you do at the moment. A Starlink mini would only use about 25 - 30 watts and still give speeds over 100 mbps.
How cool is that. I see a sprinkler running in the background. Is that off a cistern?
Real men use Solar power. 'Nuff said
Cheers from your 7kw PV Solar system neighbour in Linn County
Starlink is the bomb. Only reliable way for me to get internet, too.
Solar power is amazing for remote living. A propane/gas/diesel generator for cloudy day backup is your friend.
I ordered a Bluetti system earlier this week, didn't take note of the shipping time. It's coming late August! I don't have a pressing need for it, but I wanna play with my toy 😡
Pretty cool trick indeed. I water my garden from the pond with solar. Nonexistent technology 30 yrs. ago. Sufficiently advanced technology is indistinguishable from magic. A.C. Clark I think.
I had that chair. It's Costco, $199 I think was the latest price, I paid less when I bought it. LOL, you seem to love it as much as I did mine...but mine broke, the arm rest is part of the frame and it eventually cracked. Sad day...
199? they def saw you coming...haha
Great setup!
How about a bloopers video, keep up the good work.
Solar experiments are cool...good to see you with plenty of power from the panels and good connectivity.
Can you take the Starlink back with you ?
the Chuck Norris quip gave me a good belly laugh...
Fun vid
Looks great out there!
To answer your question about where is UA-cam - Google runs a data center (or two) in Oregon, a few in California and a monster one in Council Bluffs, Iowa. Your video most likely got uploaded to the Iowa one, although Oregon is also quite likely.
nice
I will get a Dometic cooler, b/c of your video.
What gives you the water pressure for your lawn sprinkler? Does that battery also connect to your well pump? One can see the sprinkler going in the background.
What runs the sprinkler for the treatment plant
Gravity? And a gas powered pump possibility.
I see that you are watering your yard.. where does the power to run the pump come from?
The cistern must be well up the mountain to provide the water pressure.
@@kdub3890 ah. Thx
I believe the official term for the temperature control thing is "doohickey"
Usually manually controlled with a "thingmabob"
If you get brain stumped you just call it a, "whatchamacallit."
The Doohickey for the thingmabob on the whatchamacallit???
Let us not forget the thingamajig.
🤣🤣🤣
You so funny😂
I was asking about the sprinkler in the back of you
Gravity feed, lol
Sweet.... You Might want to consider about 4 fuses to protect your power system from the Ole Shit happens of Life! Just something I noticed! Don't fall for the BMS will save me crap. Un-fused 12V can start fires. Hate to see that happen to Anybody! Enjoy your channel.
Can I come work for you?
I was starting to get excited about those batteries until you mentioned freezing temperatures.
Oh well, maybe climate change will warm up Canada enough to be able to use them all year.
If you have internet, you are not off grid.🤔😉
personally I went with Howard Hughes' system instead of Elon's. it's a little bit lower performance, but it's also lower price and I don't have to do business with Elon.
Whats wrong with elon?
@@scottalan4655 he's a spoiled brat.
How so? Have you seen him pulling fiber cable out in Memphis? He seems to be a very hard working person.
@@mgdubya27 Elon Musk? he's another silver spoon nepo baby. I guarantee you hard work is not a habit of his.
@kenbrown2808 Nope, you've been programmed by deranged elon haters. Believe what you want, I don't care. It's easier to fool people than to convince them that they have been fooled.
