Sasha and Grime are the best antagonists I've seen in ages. I love all the layers that there are to Sasha's relationships, where she genuinely cares about Anne and Marcy, but has this desperate fear of losing her dominance in the status quo with them. So she does everything she can to stay in control of things through force and emotional manipulation. It's a tragically grounded issue explored through a fantastical setting.

What puts Amphibia over Owl House for me, is the COMEDY, this is one of the funniest cartoon shows since Gravity Falls and Avatar, but it have a very similar problem to Owl House in season 1, they BARELY concentrate in the plot, even less than Owl House, but because every episode the comedy is so damn strong you let it pass....season 2 have fix that issue, there is a lot of continuity and more episodes building the mystery of Ann, Marcy, Sasha and the Magic box, plus is still incredibly funny. I cant wait to see the new episodes (the ones haven't leak yet XD).
I feel like the first season is just perfect for you to start knowing and loving the characters. They focus on that build up first with occasional references to the main plot. Leading the second season to be perfect with great jokes as well as occasional character building as well as irl references. Like letting go of your loved ones, accepting them for not being what they want to be, and especially Sprig's mom man. That hit like a bomb shell cause no one saw it coming as it came within a blink of an eye and the song as well man. Just damn...
Season 1 focuses less on the plot because it's set up for the plot; Reunion probably wouldn't have been as impactful if we didn't grow to know and love the Wartwood residents and Hop Pop throughout Season 1. I know I was at the edge of my seat when they were all in danger, because I didn't want anything to happen to them. Also Anne gets some major character development as a result of all of the episodic adventures she went on, which again had a huge impact on Reunion. And that's what I love about the show, it rewards you for continuing to watch it, and has some pretty great payoff. That's why I tell people to give it a chance and stick with it, Plot does kick in and it kicks in really good. I'm honestly here trying to see what people like about Amphibia. I'm about 4 episodes (8 segments?) deep and I don't get it yet. I know everyone raves about it but these early episodes are testing my patience. I have no doubts that it gets good, I just want to avoid a repeat of Steven Universe where it takes 40 episodes to reach a point where it's actually worth watching. I've spent multiple hours of my life now watching it and it hasn't hooked me. The morals are stale and character growth gets reset when the credits roll. I haven't yet seen a "good" episode. I'm gonna keep watching. Sincerely, I'm trying. I don't want to be unfair. But it's incredibly difficult to care about so far. If many people are having my experience, then it shouldn't be TOO shocking that it doesn't get more attention.
@@FabbrizioPlays that's not really true its just that it focuses on the world building process and character development which is why it focuses less on the plot in a large amount of episodes.
Owl house < amphibia ( I still love these two shows equally ) Here’s why: 1. Amphibia is more funnier than the owl house and has better timing as well 2. Creative, colorful, and funny characters that have distinct personalities 3. One eyed Wally
I still prefer The Owl House since it just clicked with me a lot more, but I do wish that Amphibia could get just as much, if not more hype & attention because it’s honestly so underrated.
Owl House makes a lot more up-front promises about the overarching story. I'm 4 episodes deep in Amphibia and so far it has spent maybe 15 seconds promising anything bigger.
I made the mistake of watching the Owl house before Amphibia, and it was a midtake I'm not a fan of annoying characters, and unfortunately, Anne and Sprig's troublemaking attitudes just annoyed me a lot. Of course, personal opinion, but the only characters I liked were Zasha and the toads. But I also think s1 was way better than s2
Season 1 of Amphibia did so much to make the townsfolk seem like people you would see in your own town, sort of like The Simpsons but they have nailed it better in one season. You don't feel like you are looking into a blank background because you feel like you know them pretty well and want to know more. Steven Universe tried to do that with me townie episodes, but Amphibia is doing it so much better.
Amphibia's townie episodes were mostly fun, had stakes when necessary and had consistent payoff throughout the whole show. That's already a 3:0 on SU lmao
Even before I saw how charming the characters were and how good the stories were, I was hooked from episode one because it was a cartoon about frogs. I've been wanting a cartoon about frogs since I was a little kid, but for some reason nobody in the major cartoon channels wanted to do it. Did they not realize kids like frogs?
I enjoyed the owl house, and I love the setting, but it surprises me that by a huge margin people talk about it a lot more then better shows like infinty train and amphibia.

May I request Glitch Techs on Netflix? It's a great show with a lot of representation and an interesting plot and Nickelodeon still hasn't renewed it for a third season when it so desperately deserves one.
I didn’t realize how much non plot episodes there were in amphibia but I found most of them to be enjoyable since it’s centered around spending time with the town characters. Those episodes pay off when you get to the second to last episode of season 2 cause you might feel sad when Anne, Marcy, and Sasha are about to go home and have to leave behind the fantasy world filled with friends.
Season one of Amphibia is a ton of fun and has some of the best humor of both current and older shows. Every episode of season two has been excellent and continues to take the show to higher heights for me.
This is the second time I've watched a show because you recommended it (first one was KIPO). This one's really a gem. Just finished season 2. Thanks for the rec! Will definitely keep watching your videos for more! (Also want to watch Infinity Train cause of your videos but I can't find it anywhere) Great videos! Love your style!
Yes! Recognition for Amphibia! Wait, General Yunnan *is* a Ducktales villain. I've been so blind... how have I not seen it before? Also, am I the only one who thinks that Amphibia does horror better than The Owl House, even though TOH is the one actually billed as a horror comedy?
@King Pistachion Owl House currently has the edge in painful body transformation sequences and portrayal of physical bullying tactics. Plus a doppelganger. Most of the life-and-death fights? Amphibia for sure.
I prefer Owl House and I'll still acknowledge that Amphibia is probably the better show so far; It just has too much filler for me these days. Edit: and by "these days" I mean me. I have less patience for filler now.
The filler is important and really fun, we get to know the characters, astablish the relationships between them and amphibia uses it to sprikle in some lore. The season 1 finale wouldn't have as much impact as it had if it weren't for all that time getting to know them. Also season 2 flips the script in terms of plot filler, most of the episodes are plot
I was initially more excited for the owl house, but the pacing of lessons learned and the way Luz learned magic rapidly made it the lesser show to me. I still like it and I'm excited for season two, but I think they made some errors.
I’ve been a fan of amphibia since the first episode premiered and seeing the show slowly develop into this masterpiece that everyone loves is truly amazing. No other show will be able to fill the hole in my heart that amphibia will leave once it ends but I'm glad that Matt got to finish the story. Amphibia is definitely one of my top 3 favorite cartoons ever!
I just came down from a high from beating the first boss of Super Meat Boy, an accomplishment 7 years in the making, and then I see a review of the most uniquely animated series I've ever loved. (The Halloween episode was legitimately terrifying.)
Also, an additional point: No matter how much Disney shafts Amphibia, it can’t be any worse than how they treated Big Hero 6 and DuckTales, ESPECIALLY the former.
@@transranpo It's interesting, because on one hand, the stunt Disney pulled on Amphibia was awful and I feel terrible for its fans. On the other hand, at least they didn't mess with the content of the show itself like they did with BH6? Actually, I think Ducktales was probably treated better than both of them.

But I got hooked up since ep one of Amphibia, OMG so hype of all the spoilers, going to watch them all now. Bye.
ya'know, I was always annoyed by the fact that Anne kept the leaves in her hair and never bothered to get a replacement shoe (or at the very least just ditch the shoes entirely)
Yeah it’s distracting for me as well, especially how she somehow had a winter jacket and bean hat in her book bag despite being sunny back on earth before she was transported to Amphibia. Cartoon logic could excuse it though.

@@FabbrizioPlays so uhh how’s that going?
@@FabbrizioPlays that's not really true its just that it focuses on the world building process and character development which is why it focuses less on the plot in a large amount of episodes.
Owl house < amphibia ( I still love these two shows equally )
Here’s why:
1. Amphibia is more funnier than the owl house and has better timing as well
2. Creative, colorful, and funny characters that have distinct personalities
3. One eyed Wally
I still prefer The Owl House since it just clicked with me a lot more, but I do wish that Amphibia could get just as much, if not more hype & attention because it’s honestly so underrated.
Same
Owl House makes a lot more up-front promises about the overarching story. I'm 4 episodes deep in Amphibia and so far it has spent maybe 15 seconds promising anything bigger.
@xavi Remo Me thinks he doth protest too much. Waiting this long? Spamming everyone? Obviously insecure with his animation preferences.
@@pseudonymousentity5334 God people like king pistachion make me embarrassed to admit I prefer amphibia.
I made the mistake of watching the Owl house before Amphibia, and it was a midtake
I'm not a fan of annoying characters, and unfortunately, Anne and Sprig's troublemaking attitudes just annoyed me a lot.
Of course, personal opinion, but the only characters I liked were Zasha and the toads.
But I also think s1 was way better than s2
the amphibia fandom: *exists*
me, already puling out my dr pepper and blankets: OKay you've convinced me
Season 1 of Amphibia did so much to make the townsfolk seem like people you would see in your own town, sort of like The Simpsons but they have nailed it better in one season.
Amphibia is great and deserves a lot of love
Yes
Amphibia is pure comedy gold.
Not just comedy a great adventures too
As well as the owl house 😊

@@edupal3256 to me owl house ain’t funny at all
@@jacksuniverse2323 oh I thought it was but i think the owl house was a drama romance fantasy action adventure show
Even before I saw how charming the characters were and how good the stories were, I was hooked from episode one because it was a cartoon about frogs. I've been wanting a cartoon about frogs since I was a little kid, but for some reason nobody in the major cartoon channels wanted to do it. Did they not realize kids like frogs?
Did you ever watch Toad Patrol?
This show's beyond slept on! I absolutely adore it! Genuinely one of the funniest shows out there, the commedic timing is incredible
I enjoyed the owl house, and I love the setting, but it surprises me that by a huge margin people talk about it a lot more then better shows like infinty train and amphibia.

1.Does the whole thing between Sasha and Anne remind anyone of Catradora ,or is it just me?
2. That was a cool summry👌
the difference is that Catra went through a lot of trauma which made her tge way she was while Sasha is (from what we know) just simply a toxic person

May I request Glitch Techs on Netflix? It's a great show with a lot of representation and an interesting plot and Nickelodeon still hasn't renewed it for a third season when it so desperately deserves one.
T H I S, they have to renew the show, it's way too good 💗💓💓❤
Just finished watching Amphibia season 2, you were right this show is great! Can't wait for season 3!
Finally, After all these years.. Finally, I have them all..
The owl house, She ra and amphibia sarcastic summaries.
And Steven universe
I didn’t realize how much non plot episodes there were in amphibia but I found most of them to be enjoyable since it’s centered around spending time with the town characters. Those episodes pay off when you get to the second to last episode of season 2 cause you might feel sad when Anne, Marcy, and Sasha are about to go home and have to leave behind the fantasy world filled with friends.
Season one of Amphibia is a ton of fun and has some of the best humor of both current and older shows. Every episode of season two has been excellent and continues to take the show to higher heights for me.
It really says so much you included so many quotes from the show in here it really is that good. Revisiting this gem!
I'm so happy you did this. This is my favourite modern Disney show.
Family shrub:
The episode I didn’t know existed until like last summer
me : sees amphibia in the title

The way you explain everything is hilarious and relatable I love it and I already subscribed.
Yes! Recognition for Amphibia!
Wait, General Yunnan *is* a Ducktales villain. I've been so blind... how have I not seen it before?
Also, am I the only one who thinks that Amphibia does horror better than The Owl House, even though TOH is the one actually billed as a horror comedy?
me too you're not the only one lol it really does do it better
Depends on the kind of horror, tbh.
@King Pistachion Owl House currently has the edge in painful body transformation sequences and portrayal of physical bullying tactics. Plus a doppelganger.
Most of the life-and-death fights? Amphibia for sure.
While I watch Duck Tales Im just playing "Who will return first?" with Amphibia and Owl House. Turns out the answer was Flash.
Yes I love Amphibia!!! I’m so glad you’re giving it the love it deserves!
The atmosphere of this show is so relaxing for me.
Sometimes when I can't sleep I play the outro on a loop and I fall asleep so fast.
Genuinely surprised that you had nothing to say about the “lean on me” scene 😂 I was curious about your thoughts on that one
I prefer Owl House and I'll still acknowledge that Amphibia is probably the better show so far;
It just has too much filler for me these days.
Edit: and by "these days" I mean me. I have less patience for filler now.
Yeah me too except more filler just means more binge for me🤷🏾♂️
Ya there are a lot of fillers but it is kinda like gravity falls fillers with sprinkles of lore in it
@@qseanferrigon3609 yes, at that time in my life I probably would have loved it.
NOW I'VE BEEN WAITING FOR THIS ONE.
Definitely most underrated show in a while.

One of my favourite shows 🥰 had a friend like Sasha once so I can relate with Anne…
this is a good show thank you for talking about it
ya'know, I was always annoyed by the fact that Anne kept the leaves in her hair and never bothered to get a replacement shoe (or at the very least just ditch the shoes entirely)
a lot of people are, it's kinda of a tease from Matt Braly, but it's her character design
The worst thing is, that she sometimes has other perfectly fine shoes for an episode and then goes back to one shoe and sock
Yeah it’s distracting for me as well, especially how she somehow had a winter jacket and bean hat in her book bag despite being sunny back on earth before she was transported to Amphibia. Cartoon logic could excuse it though.
@@Karas540 gotta go back to the original design wich means one shoe
@@toadlord8594 Some of the outfits she gets from wartwood, but there's a couple of outfits that are from the human world. Maybe she packed her bag with almost everything

Maybe I'll agree with you when I'm done dragging my feet through the mud that is Amphibia season 1A. But watching The Owl House wasn't a slog. I got current within 27 hours of starting it. Less than a week later I re-watched the whole thing with a friend of mine. The Owl House is a much easier sell and it's not even close.
