I can't remember if this was mentioned, but you can tell you are cutting deep enough when gold dust starts coming out, and on my card at least, it wasn't necessary to cut all the way through the plastic. I think this gold dust comes from the circuit, and is scraped out by the knife. Thanks for the video. This method gives the most discrete results that I have seen for disabling contactless. However, it does leave suspicious looking bumps on the opposite side of the card where it has been cut.
With physical access to card. It is possible to use micro/smd solder tools to grind away card and reconnect the antenna. But it's a very speciality task.
Sorry to say, but I can't remember, and I don't have a working version of the Samsung Android phone any more, so I can't find out. However, I remember that it was pretty straight forward finding an app that could read the card, so I hope you will also be able find one also.
Just don't disable it just call your bank and ask instructions on how to wnable pin on contactless cards alsoyour card has an rfid (radiofrequency identification) and not a GPS. Don't worry the only way to be tracked is by using your actual card and seeing the stores you visited and the atm's you used. And all of this information is used only under serious circumstances.
In my case I want to disable it on my debit card because it can be used without any protection code. Makes no sense that the chip is PIN protected, but all it takes to use the card maliciously is to get it close to a reader.
On my debit card i just draw out my money and use cash or check for the bills and cell auto pays itself the rest is cash just pay cash and avoid getting traced gps or habit profiling or worse hacked by Target stores and after i withdraw money i leave card at home
Yeah, in hindsight you are right :-) But please take in consideration that the video is from 2016, and at that time the contactless payment was a new technology, where it had been proven that abuse was possible. However, during the test of time, none or only few stories about abuse has emerged, so the risk is obviously little or not existing.
I know little about this subject but the transaction limit in the UK is now up to £100. Wouldn't a lost card make thief a lot of money quickly or is there something else to stop them? When they started, the limit was about £10 here so not really worth a thief's time. I'd rather not lose the money rather than try to claim it off the card company. I'd appreciate your advice if I'm missing something.
if you put a strong flashlight to the back you can be more precise and just cut the legs of the antenna
correct! I'm thinking of giving this a try
Thanks for the tip, bro!
I have two cards one I can see through and the other so thick
Thank you for posting a way to disable the Contactless feature without visibly mutilating the card

Tack för videon!
What app was used to read the card?
I cant remember the app name, but it was on Android using a Samsung Galaxy 2 device. I guess there are a number of apps available to do the reading.
what the app name that can test rfid ?
Is this 100% permanent and impossible to reverse? or can a thief potentially abuse it somehow still?

How do I disable the actual chip though?
porksniffer , poke a hole through it
lol, why would you wanna do that? XD
@@-_Nuke_- he's stupid. He thinks that an rfid chip is the same as a GPS chip
microwave the card or electrocute it
What app did you use?
Sorry, but I don't remember. It was done with an ancient Samsung Android phone.
Looks safe, but not sure on its accuracies
So if I do this will my card still work?
The RFID/NFC (contactless) part of the card will not work any more, but you can still use it when put into the machine.

@@8amonas what is "Serious circumstances"???
@@SkyGamer911 like someone went missing or their card was stolen. Maybe the card was illegally copied and used on another county state or country.
step 1: go to your bank´s app
step 2: turn off contactless payments
This does not work for disabling parking meters, trains/metro/bus etc. The solution in the video does work against that.
@@lovemadeinjapan are there more potential risks - when you mention all of that stuff ?
@@maxmagnus15 If you really want to disable it, drill a hole in the card (not in the chip off course).
Also u can cut circuit on other side of card. If coil is broken nfc will not work. But idk bro just use apple or google pay and leave card at home.
Michael Stephenson ikr
Or just disable it with ur bank acc instead of.. destroying permanently ur card ?
HAVE NOT YET DISCOVERED, AFTER LOOKING AT 3 VIDEOS, WHY, EXACTLY, I WOULD WANT TO DISABLE THE RFID CHIP. THEY ALL ASSUME I MUST KNOW. BUT I DON'T.
maybe because the contactless feature could be used maliciously by other people?
There is no need to disable it if you want to be a slave.
Because it can track you. It makes it so you only pay using credit and it costs stores more money, making banks richer.
In my case I want to disable it on my debit card because it can be used without any protection code. Makes no sense that the chip is PIN protected, but all it takes to use the card maliciously is to get it close to a reader.

Wow.. the tech version of anti-vaxxers.
