With physical access to card. It is possible to use micro/smd solder tools to grind away card and reconnect the antenna. But it's a very speciality task.

Yeah, in hindsight you are right :-) But please take in consideration that the video is from 2016, and at that time the contactless payment was a new technology, where it had been proven that abuse was possible. However, during the test of time, none or only few stories about abuse has emerged, so the risk is obviously little or not existing.

I know little about this subject but the transaction limit in the UK is now up to £100. Wouldn't a lost card make thief a lot of money quickly or is there something else to stop them? When they started, the limit was about £10 here so not really worth a thief's time. I'd rather not lose the money rather than try to claim it off the card company. I'd appreciate your advice if I'm missing something.

The RFID/NFC (contactless) part of the card will not work any more, but you can still use it when put into the machine.

Just don't disable it just call your bank and ask instructions on how to wnable pin on contactless cards alsoyour card has an rfid (radiofrequency identification) and not a GPS. Don't worry the only way to be tracked is by using your actual card and seeing the stores you visited and the atm's you used. And all of this information is used only under serious circumstances.

Sorry to say, but I can't remember, and I don't have a working version of the Samsung Android phone any more, so I can't find out. However, I remember that it was pretty straight forward finding an app that could read the card, so I hope you will also be able find one also.

There is no need to disable it if you want to be a slave.

Because it can track you. It makes it so you only pay using credit and it costs stores more money, making banks richer.

In my case I want to disable it on my debit card because it can be used without any protection code. Makes no sense that the chip is PIN protected, but all it takes to use the card maliciously is to get it close to a reader.

On my debit card i just draw out my money and use cash or check for the bills and cell auto pays itself the rest is cash just pay cash and avoid getting traced gps or habit profiling or worse hacked by Target stores and after i withdraw money i leave card at home

I have never used the security code when shopping on Amazon ! There are other webshops where that's the case as well !

exactly. The worst thing is that the bank blocks the card completely and takes forever to send a new one. Even worse when travelling overseas. They should have a system where the customer can ring up, get a new PIN and a new 3 digit security code and then they should unblock it again.

The first statement depends on where you live i guess. I was the victim of card fraud, and getting my money back was a relatively hassle-free procedure. I filled out a quick form and sent it to my bank and got my money back. The second tip in regards to the security number is a great tip though! I might employ that! :-)

I cant remember the app name, but it was on Android using a Samsung Galaxy 2 device. I guess there are a number of apps available to do the reading.
