The first thing you could please do is improving the way Kickstarter supports backers getting the information they need to take legal actions against campaign owners who disappear and do not deliver rewards. It's a shame that a backer has to sue Kickstarter first to get the information where their money went.
This clown literally introduced a disclaimer to projects that says you cannot ever demand a refund from a creator. He’s definitely not interested in protecting backers and helping us legally.
Welcome to Kickstarter Everette. All the best in the challenges to come. Our two cents as a six times creator: Give focus and support to those creators that deliver on time and in line with their product/quality claims. They are the ones that increase the credibility of Kickstarter, which today I'm sure is one of the biggest challenges you'll need to work with. Irresponsible creators (do not deliver on time / do not deliver on product / and sometimes do not deliver at all) are your biggest enemies today. Hope this helps and once again all the best!
Everette Taylor - You need to make this your #1 priority - Clean up the successful campaigns that failed to deliver as promised, many flagged with #kickstarterfraud, where millions of dollars have been taken from the Community of Backers that you support with nothing delivered, no money returned, and the Creators being MIA with no updates for years! Here is but one example where $754,390 was taken from backers with nothing delivered, no money returned, and the project creator being MIA since January 12, 2019 for a project that should have been delivered October 2017. There are many like this. Show us that you stand behind your words by standing behind the backers, putting a stop to the fraud, and getting backer money returned.
If that's true, that's BAD. I was thinking about launching a KickStarter for my next project but I'm not eager to jump into a relationship with a brand that is too risky.
@@PoweredbyPurpose The problem being discussed here is that on occasion * the campaign meets/exceeds the funding threshold * the backer’s pay the creator * Kickstarter gets paid * the campaign creator does not deliver on the campaign promises for years past the delivery date * Kickstarter does nothing to help the backers or hold the campaign creator responsible yet they keep the portion of the fraudulent money that was paid to them * Some backers are less likely to get involved once they have been burned; I have been burned twice due to this situation and since have not backed any further campaigns Questions: * Why does Kickstarter not consider this fraud perpetrated on campaign backers by the campaign creator? * Why is Kickstarter not considered an accomplice to that fraud since Kickstarter received funds associated with that fraud? * What, if anything, has been done in these situations? * Does Kickstarter realize that they are paid by the backers and not the creators? Without backers, Kickstarter will cease to exist.
The first thing you should do in your new role is to stop the fraud on Kickstarter. As a company, Kickstarter doesn't prevent fraud, doesn't fight it, rather it actually supports it. But I understand you do it this way, because you get the money from backers through participation fee no matter what, so why would you cut that? I stopped backing. Hopefully, more people also realize it that Kickstarter as of today is a fraud supportive platform.
OK Everette - you’ve seen all the folks complaining of fraud. Here’s the solution, which I have suggested in the past, but it’s fallen on deaf ears due to corporate greed: require creators to post a performance bond. While it may harm some genuinely sincere folks, it’s guaranteed to weed out the con artists. Why heck, KS could profit by it by starting a company to write the bonds. I would even back that company in KS.
please make it a safer place for backers. the number of times I have tried to introduce family and friends to Kickstarter, only for them to hear/see that there is basically no protection from losing their money and instantly say "nope", is frustrating and sad - it could be so much more. the processes in place to protect backers from creators who take their money and disappear into the ether are basically non-existent. i myself have been scammed for over £150 (along with all the other backers of that project) and there's absolutely nothing i can do about it.. backers should feel supported by you, not see you as a walled garden that no one can see into.
Congrats! Though I'm disappointed of no mention of things you for sure know you need to improve on. Case in point: Search for Kickstarter in UA-cam. What's the first suggestion that pops up? Do you acknowledge the HUGE problem Kickstarter has with scammers? I'll leave an excerpt on a comment other backer left in a project in which I was scammed out of 350 dollars. Just so you get a taste of the real sentiment that most of your users find themselves in. Completely agree. Unfortunately scammers are an issue for backers and not Kickstarter. As Kickstarter gets their share of the proceedings regardless of project delivery. An unfortunate cycle in which many of us find ourselves trapped in. Good projects keep us satisfied enough to give Kickstarter and scammers a pass by continuing using their platform. These scam projects do reduce the amount of things I support in the future and ends up only hurting legitimate projects. Have plenty of friends who have gotten burned by scammers and bowed to never use Kickstarter again.
Lets see if you can do something, anything, about literal scams on your platform. I know kickstarter is an investment, not a store, but I backed a project that went through and who shipped their stuff, but they claimed they couldn't ship to my country and that I was entitled to a refund... they never sent it. They kept kicking it forward and started ignoring me.
Congrats on your new role. Kickstarter has become a retail presales testing ground, with no risk, for large publishing teams. Especially in the board games and video gaming sectors. Your recommended for you listings rarely show projects that aren't 100s% above their target. I want to help smaller creators, and as a creator myself I want to be seen by the backer community alongside the giant IPs that Kickstarter now has polluting its front pages. Best of luck Everertte.
I noticed with my last campaign my book got soft "shadowbanned" in that no matter how well it was doing (and I raised over $30K for a comic which is pretty top tier) the book would always be pushed to the bottom of the "magic" search results for comics. I'd love some transparency from Kickstarter as to why stuff like this happens. It's more than frustrating to have it so potential backers are dissuaded from my book because it can't be found in search results.
"My mission to support artists all over the world". C'est bien le côté négatif de kickstarter : le manque de traduction. Idem dans l'application. Tout le monde n'est pas anglophone. Surtout si l'on se dit d'envergure internationale. La création de projet ne devrait pas souffrir d'un barrage linguistique.
Congrats, was about to write feedback that there is no way shape or form to sort/check games with an additional type of game, I keep receiving news for games (Tabletop) which I'm not remotely interested in. Would be amazing to add something that creators can add about what type is their game and if a new genre pop-up in the future is to be added by your team, don't think this would be a big hassle for you guys. Thanks!
Hi new CEO. Why doesn't Kickstarter protect investors???????? I helped a project launch and never received the product!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Congrats on your new role. Is witchstarter available yet? I launched a project about a month ago and I saw info on FB but I couldn’t actually find the category on your site.
Hi! Yes, Witchstarter is live. It's not a "category" but one of our open calls, so it shows up a little differently on our site. The landing page is www.kickstarter.com/witchstarter and backers can find live projects from there. Good luck with your project!
@@kickstarter Hi! If I started a project draft already (payment confirmed) will I still be able to participate in Witchstarter if I didn't use the link to start my project? Thank you! And congrats on the new CEO!
Congrats, Everette! Libertad Avenue born in Kicstarter. Is a big challenge improve a good experience for creators and bakers . Thank you from Basque Country in Spain :)
Dear Everette, congrats for the new position ! As a Superbacker with 2,583 supported projects as far as I know I am in the Top 10 of Backers with the biggest experience. And yes there are good things on Kickstarter and realy things to be changed. Maybe one of your employes can forward you my message to have a talk. Regards Adam a.k. ABProved
My biggest wish for this amazing platform is that Kickstarter becomes less of a pre-order platform and more of a crowdfunding platform.
The first thing you could please do is improving the way Kickstarter supports backers getting the information they need to take legal actions against campaign owners who disappear and do not deliver rewards.
