    This is a great tutorial thank you....super easy to follow!!! One question if I may: How long before an event can you make a fondant covered dummy cake? Will it last 4-5 days prior to the event?

    this is so helpful. would i be able to insert fresh flowers onto the fondant without it cracking or breaking? does fondant crack? my first time. thank you

    • @stephanieb5019
      @stephanieb5019 Рік тому

      yes you should be able to. However, make sure that the flower stems are coated as protection to the inner cake (if you're not using a cake dummy) and/or toothpick to pierce the cake exactly where you want the flowers to go.

      Good question! Fondant lasts almost forever, lol. So I think it would be up to the shelf life of your fondant (the average is 22-24 months). But honestly if you've seen any cake models in bakeries, ahem, the one's that have been in their windows forever? They're all cake dummies...so this can be done well in advance (definitely weeks) since there's no perishable cake underneath the fondant. Hope that helps!

    Thanks ! How do you fill in the gaps between your tiers ? Without using ribbon to cover

    • @JaniesSweets
      @JaniesSweets  3 роки тому +1

      I actually do end up getting the gap because it doesn’t have that board underneath... otherwise I would definitely use ribbon or something else 😄 great question

    • @stephanieb5019
      @stephanieb5019 Рік тому

      I fill in gaps with icing or white chocolate....basically anything edible portion of the cake to blend both cakes into each other. If it's buttercream, I'd do it with white fondant of course, and pipe a small "string" border at the gaps. Then use your finger to swipe off the excess. This swiping motion not only closes the gap but also makes a great effect for a cleaner looking cake. Closing the gaps make a huge difference!
      Also for the filling in, it's basically the edible version of caulking tiles/gaps. So you can definitely see those videos and see what I mean. They also have forms you can use if you don't want to use your finger. (@esbeecakes)

    Thank you very much i appreciate your video im also a cake lover😁
    i would like to know the second dummy is how many inches and deeper please

    • @stephanieb5019
      @stephanieb5019 Рік тому

      From what I know fondant smoother sizes should be, I would say that it's 5-6" tall. I'm not sure of the width of the cake though...maybe 8 inches.

      Well, fondant doesn't spoil quick but their shelf life is 22-24 months.

    Hello,
    Thank you for sharing.
    Can I put a 4”, 6”, 8”, 10” regular cakes on a 12” dummy cake?
    Just the 12” will be styrofoam. The 4 tier cakes are very heavy, so I am scare that it will be too much weight for the 12” dummy cake. I hope you can answer my question.
    Thank you

    • @JaniesSweets
      @JaniesSweets  2 роки тому +1

      Hi there… the dummy cake shouldn’t have any issues varying the weight of the top cakes however make sure you assemble it on the site… you CANNOT move the fake cake with the real cake on top it will fall over…
