Ah, you went for "Stains of Time" before "The Only Thing I Know for Real" or "A Stranger I Remain". This song I would argue hits the hardest out of the entire soundtrack because it just starts out in your face with really raw sounding lead guitar, drums, *and* vocals right at the start and doesn't stop. Fitting for Monsoon given what he likely had to endure through endless wars and surviving Pol Pot when he was young.

Most of the songs in mgrr builds up before going batshit insane, stains of time just went straight for it

This is the theme song of Monsoon, one of the major villains in the game. His traumatic past in Cambodia has led to his nihilistic views of the world. And it's neat that you pointed out his rejection of humanity and becoming machine-like since he has modified more of his body than any of the other major cyborgs, with only his original head (except his eyes) and neck intact.
And then there's Sam, who barely has any cyborg enhancements (only his right arm if I'm correct.) Where Monsoon rejects his humanity and converts himself almost completely into a machine, Sam is the only character who was redeemed in some way, and the fact that he had almost 0 machinery on him signifies his humanity.

@@Rahnonymous Yup, only his right arm and only because it was badly wounded and would have prevented him from fighting. The overwhelming power of the weakest Brazilian male is truly something to behold.
Ironically, monsoon couldn’t reject his humanity or emotions at the end of the fight. Even doubting himself when you just fuck him up with no difficulty, at the end of the skilful run, the zandatsu makes him cry for mercy by saying “stop! Stop!” He couldn’t reject his humanity at the end of the day. It’s impossible.
@@feister2869 the actual "Stop! Stop it!" shows how monsoon has already lost the "dreams" the song is talking about and how he is devastated about how did you beat him, bc the line is actually a special line, and it appears when you are close or directly flawless him, by keep parrying and attacking
This theme really fits Monsoon, as he is a very nihilistic character
It also fits raiden, since he goes ripper mode
I think Monsoon is the most cybernetic of all the characters, even more than Raiden (Monsoon doesn't even have eyes that we can see).
But the Zen part you mentioned is actually not far off, Monsoon commissioned the Japanese garden in the game.

In some concept art, it show that he actually has extendable/retractable cables with his eyes at the tips. He can plug them into his helmet. It looks as terrifying as it sounds.

These boss themes are pretty much half the character that you're fighting. The game is very short and you don't get *too* much time to know the bosses. But when you do, and when you hear their music...👌

Best part of Monsoon is how incredibly consistent he is with his own twisted views. Even in death.
And only if you completely style on his ass will he show a glimpse of genuine fear before returning to his nihilism once he knows he's dying.
My favorite metal gear rising song, the fight is simply the most amazing, and the lyrics are just awesome, i love how the lyric match with the character Moonson and his ideals, thank you for the breakdown Atlas ❤️

Quick recap: this theme plays while fighting a meme man who splits apart in response to physical trauma and looks like the imposter from among us with two Sais as his weapons and attacks at average speed for a cheetah and has the power to pick up tanks and helicopters and throw them as well as making balls of scrap metal with relative ease. After the fight is over the player character (Raiden) argues with the decapitated head of the meme man (Monsoon) about memes.
watch some gameplay of the monsoon fight when the song kicks in, then you'll understand the high-energy, the fights like crack on a kantana, literally
I recommend the ULTRAKILL ost no lyrics but it goes hard.

Monsoon believes that humans are only social beings; nothing else. He believes that they only consist of what formed them: The cultural influences and experiences they saw and lived through.
According to Monsoon, a human being can only act in one way in every situation, and making decisions is a delusion.
To quote the character: "Free will is a myth. Religion is a joke. We are all pawns, controlled by something greater: Memes. The DNA of the soul. They shape our will. They are the culture. They are everything we pass on."
He does not so much reject his humanity. He rather believes that to be human meants being a biological robot whose actions are devoid of free will and simply a culmination of its life.
So this is jacks terrifying tru form!

You should really do "Stranger i remain" it is one of the best songs of whole game
oh god im sorry to say this but this isent an offical mix its an “extended version” that loops the begining part of the song over and into the end cause it only takes the recordings from the game and not the original ost. so you are not listening to a proper version of the song.
But it's the same song just repeated twice correct? Okay so it's proper
@@wildmoose3979 its not there is a part missing espeshally with how the song transitions into the second half. so atleast imo it is verry jaring and takes you out of the song whene in this version it suddenly cuts and your at the beginning of the song again.
@@AnthonyTheHedgehog2 yes but it ends the same after the final loop of the song, so you still hear the ending of the song regardless.

A Soul Can't Be Cut. The only flaw is that the vocals are hard as shit to make out from all the other good noise.
Also a good one is Rebellion, vocals or not, from BlazBlue. Not Rebellion II. That one does the original a disservice. Pacing is fucked. I've seen remixes done better.
