- Reaction To Kummeli - Catch a Fish (Finnish Comedy)
This is my reaction to Kummeli - Catch a Fish
In this video I react to Finnish comedy from Finnish comedy television sketch show Kummeli and their funny sketch where an idea start's an interesting chain of events.
Original Video - • Kummeli - Catch A Fish...
5:21 The pile of rocks is "kummeli". They are used for navigating at sea.
Which was wife's idea for the show to use as the name.
Kummeli makes and plays all music by themselves
Specifically, because most of them are front line musicians as their "day job". 😅
This is actually from a movie called Kummeli Stories. I recommend you to watch the entire movie. It is one of the most iconic Finnish comedy movies of all time
For the end titles, we ofcourse have some titties..
Then again it's just a bunch of unrelated skits like Kummeli in general..
The singing policemen were introduced in a Kummeli skit where they performed the a cappella "Arvontalaulu" (Lottery Song) before acting as officials in a lottery. Not sure if they were in other skits but Kummeli Stories is the only time they were shown doing actual police work.
On the same channel as that "Catch A Fish" video, there are also two other videos with English subtitles from that Kummeli Stories film: "Rally" and "Ice Hockey". I highly recommend watching them as well.
There's a Finnish version of Naked Attraction as well, but this sketch is from a 1995 film "Kummeli Stories" that predates that show by about 20+ years or so. ;) (So yes, this was a proper movie. If you like Kummeli, I recommend the movie and other movies they have made afterwards.)
Funny how other comedic aspects are also real nowadays. Hence clown world🤣
I like these reactions, and Scottish way to speak. Having fun with them, good work 😁👍
Most of the members of Kummeli are musicians also so theres alot of original music in their material.
"Not only good, but the best!" or "Tää on paras" in Finnish, a phrase I still use when something is... the best. The whole Kummeli Stories movie, from which this is from, is the pinnacle of human civilization, well at least the Finnish culture.
The police scene is also funny because it's the same 3 actors doing all the parts, Mao-Tsedong fisherman being one of them :D
They were musicians at first before they ventured into comedy. They play and sing the crazy songs themselves.
Kummeli Perintöä odotellessa (Waiting for heritage) is worth to react.
On Finnish TV the naked boat selling guy was not censored. Nudity is very normal in Finland. Nobody bats an eye of some nudity on TV. You should check the video "Finnish cops deal with a couple having oral sex in a park ENGLISH SUBTITLES", if you haven't already. That kinda shows the level of how much people care about some "indecent" exposure in Finland. It is from the Finnish version of "COPS" or similar show.
I finally hafta comment my self, since youtube offers me these videos. So the perhaps best one by "Kummeli" would be "Bemarin laina" (borrowing of the BMW) but i don´t know if there is a version with English subtitles. But it is rather understandable even without them. Also "Aziz the combat fighter" is pretty good. And for much much newer stuff, "Gaala" is the last / latest things these guys did - maybe around 2018. That could have something worthwhile.
Yes those songs are created specially for these shows. All of them were firstly professional or semi professional musicians before they began to make tv comedy. They have made all the songs themselves.
This and the rally bit are the best parts of that movie
Yes, the songs are made for the show. The guys from Kummeli are all musicians.
Heikki Silvennoinen, which is the bigger guy, is actually one of the best guitarists in Finland. His first band Tabula Rasa was founded in 1972.
Some call him the "Finnish Eric Clapton". I'm not sure if it's about playing "style" or just the blues-rock genre...
But he IS very good. And has written some really good blues stuff.
Gotta give credit to the maker of the original video, excellent work on the subtitles
The one with the noisy burglars is a good one, too, and there is no need for closed captions.
that pile of rocks are called "kummeli" xD
Of course one of the jokes is that theyre looking at that pile of rocks painted white, wondering what it is.
And it is "kummeli" in Finnish, a sign for boat fairers.
Thanx you for videos, Thank You
IRL boaters would actually be breathalyzed and fined for the offenses listed (lack of safety equipment, no fishing license if engaged in fishing, blood alcohol content over 1 per mille...) The boat would have been towed if a safe driver wasn't available.
once when i was fishing with my father here in finland cops did the alcohol test the limit on boat is 1 per mill alcohol in blood his was 0.98 got pretty lucky i had dto take over driving the boat however lol
most poppular "Kulatakuume"
Ei välttämättä... 😁
Have you watched these yet: Finnish Comedy Kummeli - Perintöä odotellessa (Waiting for Inheritance, English subtitles)
People were quoting this one so much back then xD
well it is.. "Kummeli stories"
I'm pretty sure that all the music in the show is originally created by them selves
funny stuff
KUMMELI is a "big hill" of stones in lakes and sea!

Good is okay, but best is better. That naked dating game has found its way to Finnish TV too. Not sure, if showing nudity like that here has much impact though. Completely off the topic, Kummeli's delightful character Little Henry's story has found its way to YT with English subtitles. A relating car dealer sketch by Jope: "Jopet show - Car dealer - English subtitles". And here's the greatest fishing story of them all, the Rapala story: "The Rapala Story Presented By Ron Schara".
Yes mate, this music was just for this movie. Most of group was musicians, i think this is our Finnish culture to put in one clip, maybe you could do this one next? ua-cam.com/video/nUyFg9xoPKk/v-deo.html And if you need advice with our culture ask away!
The thousand marks is a joke from another earlier sketch of theirs. Not sure if you have seen "Tonnin seteli" yet?
Actually "Tonnin seteli" is from 2000, so not really related to this. I guess it's just a running gag of the guys throwing away money pretty reclessly, that's all.
I think he did
today's reality was a great joke 20 years ago.
Kummeli is good but Studio Julmahuvi or Ihmebantu were better in my opinion.
Kummel actors are musicians and actors. I think they were first in music and after that acting...
I'm not sure how well the nuances of language transfer to English. Much of the humor is in the cringe way the lines are spoken and the weird emphasis of words. The original Kummeli series is IMHO far better than these
