  • In this film I spend 4 nights away on my own in the Kingham. How easy is it to solo camp in a motorhome, what challenges did I find, and would I recommend the Kingham for the solo traveler?

When Wolfie said he was at Broadway, I knew he was going for a hab check at Willersey. I knew it.
PS you can camp at the factory. They have EHU.

    Nice looking van.
We had a weekend in a coach built camper once.
Nearest to solo camping I've done was three years of tramping in the truck.
Not been in Donington Services for a while but familiar with the place.
Don't think I could cope with the delay to the tea service though.

Thanks Mark. The truck drivers in Donnington said what happened was not unusual, due to the layout of the services. It’s put me off them to be honest! The tea delay was truly shameful 🤣

Very informative video. At last, someone tells us the mpg of the vehicle that their testing.
I'm 75, never done this before, and still unsure of which type of vehicle to get..Motorhome or something like the Autosleeper Fairford. Any advice?
    Thanks.

Thanks for watching the film and taking the time to comment, it is much appreciated. It is very difficult for me to say whether a conventional coachbuilt type Motorhome would suit you better than a panel van conversion (such as the Kingham/Fairford range) as I don’t know what you’re really looking for in a van. There is a LOT of information on first time buying on a website forum called Motorhome Fun www.motorhomefun.co.uk/forum/ which is probably the UKs biggest Motorhome forum and a mine of information. You can view for free and I think you get 5 posts without having to subscribe (think it’s about £20 a year) and I’d definitely recommend having a good trawl through it. (I am a member there and post under the name MillieMoocher). Having said that it is difficult to give advice, personally I don’t like non-fixed beds such as the Fairford has, because you soon tire of making the bed up every night/morning and the bed being made up of separate cushions means that they aren’t as comfortable as a permanent bed or perhaps a settee that also can be used as a single bed such is found in the Warwick XL. But if you need a 4 berth van (Fairford) there’s not many fixed bed 4 berth options out there… Also I have found that the Kingham is a lot easier to drive than previous Motorhomes we’ve had, and is easier to park at home and when away.
I wish you all the best in your quest, if I can help any more please feel free to email me on wolfieofbaildon@yahoo.com

Hi Wolfe, Thanks for your very informative videos. I have an Autosleepers Kingham on order and was wondering what size Avtex TV you have, I was thinking of purchasing the 24 inch but I am not sure if if it would stick out too far into the walkway. Thanks Stuart

Hi Stuart. Thanks for your kind comment. The Avtex we have is the 19 inch version. I think the 24 inch would stick out wider than the wardrobe as there’s not much clearance with the 19 inch. To be honest we find the 19 inch is fine, and have the same one fitted at the bed end so we can use the bed in its daytime position and watch tv there too. Indeed we manage to watch different channels on the 2 tvs should we need to 🤣. I hope you enjoy your Kingham when it arrives.
