This ángel earn in the history of the music, a place really special. Nobody would be enough brilliant as Maynard Ferguson was. Thanks God for this gift of art in music.❤❤❤
I remember when I was at a Jazz clinic back in 1976 in Rampo NJ and Maynard play this composition that seemingly went on for over 15 minutes! Bobby’s Militello’s flute solo was incredible and Maynard’s playing was spectacular! All the players in the band were top notch soloists as well! The whole audience were in awestruck that night. Incredible performance and so glad to be there!
Saw this amazing band the summer of '76 at the Robin Hood Dell East in Philadelphia, PA and Bobby Militello's long flute solo in Pagliacci got 3 standing ovations!
There will never be another trumpet player like Maynard Ferguson. Lin Nicholson, Eric Miyashiro, Wayne Berganon imitate The Boss. I'm sure all of them will tell you the same.
The BOSS was ON!!! At the zenith of his illustrious career. With a flugel horn no less....what a pure sound. Icing on the cale with his LeBlanc trumpet. Awed am I. RIP Maynard.
The best band seems to be complete with the exception of Peter Erskine on drums. (AH, my mistake, he was with Stan Kenton just before "Kenton '76") I'm trying to see who the tenor sax is. But Bobby Milletello is the BOMB! No, just can't see the sax section.

He made it look laughably easy.
Ya. Even Miyashiro isn't that powerful. He's darn close, but not quite
I like the primal scream version best

... with the obligatory lip squeak at the end.
Do some of his notes sound slightly flat? Or is it just me?
It doesn't matter..
