Living in a small italian city, the fact that the 208 is narrower than the Clio is a plus to me. My current car is about 170 cm wide and I already find some difficulties to pass through the streets of a typical italian town.
Found you awhile ago, but love your reviews! Your english is very good and making a channel in English not being a native needs some balls. Kudos to you, Marek. Pozdrowienia z Litwy
Ačiū. It goes back to the days, when not many people in Poland actually knew what UA-cam was, and I figured that's the best way to get any views at all.
I have driven Bmw x1, Audi a5, and Peugeot 508 and I found out that Peuegot gave me the best feeling when driving it. I didn’t expect this. The inside of car, seat, dashboard, gear, everything were made so well with such a consideration and efforts. It surpassed Bmw and of course Audi(i dont understand how come Audi can be top brand with Bmw and Mercedes.)
I rented the 208 out of curiosity some time ago, and I was positively surprised. For a small car it's very good on the highway, reasonably quiet and very stable. My fuel consumption with the 100hp engine was about 5-5.5L/100km, with mostly highway driving. The best part is that it has a real automatic transmission made by the Japanese company Aisin, not a semi-automatic or automated manual, or a DSG box.
All my life i adore Peugeots 20X but i end up buying something more rational like Honda :) When i was a kid, my uncle owned 205 and i fell in love with it immediately, when i was student 206 was the best design of them all and the most sucessfull Peugeot ever. 207 and 208 Mark I were disappointments for me, but this new 208 i was set to buy as my second car. I said, for once i will go for my heart choice and for my childhood hero car, but...hmmm Nevermind the dropdead georgeous looks (especially from behind) i aint sure i am gonna go for it. Rear is so cramped even for kids and we do transfer kids around in city car, doors are narrow amd ok boot is small, but i dont care about it, it wil be used for groceries... still it does sound like compromise, think i am gonna wait for brand new Mazda 2.
You are making me doubt my choice of a car....about to pick up GT Line ...i just love the looks and compared to my 11 year old Fiesta it drives just as smoothly Informative and unbiased review , great work!
Hello Marek , I used a C segment vehicle before, I want to buy this vehicle when it comes to our country, but I have hesitations. Can you recommend it.
Hello Marek, I am a new subscriber and love your videos, very funny and honest. Watched the Captur and Clio as well. I am curious if you're about to test the Corsa as well?
i have the previous "version" (prior to this facelift)....it seems they finally learned where to place the cup holders in a place where they could be used...
great test and commentary as always by Marek. I happened to having driven test the Clio, 208 (this one lately and after having bought my Polo), Fiesta and glad to have purchased the new Polo. Its thumps down the better one in its class and if it had better looks, although getting to like it in time especially in the energetic orange color I have, it would surely have been best seller, great quality, great materials even the hard plastics, great anaLog instrument cluster(I dont particularly like the digital ones) great indash 8 inch multimedia screen and not standing out - aLone as in the other models, best interior and boot space, totally flat when folding the rear seats, something the others dont, great comfy and supporting front and rear seats, although I got the sport comfort option, great 115 hp engine, quiet and torquy, and super quiet cruising, all in all a great little car. My second choice would have been the Fiesta which apart from lacking in every other aspect compared to Polo, it was the best one in driving feel, it just gives you the feeling of control and handling like no other in this class.
Thank you Marek for the video! It's enjoyable and light. Personnally, I ordered a e-208 GT. I drove the car and it felt safe and sporty. I love the look and most of his features. Today I drive a ZOE wich I cannot compare at any level. I take the oportunity to mention that I just replaced the electric motor of the ZOE after 45 000 km. This happened to some of my friends as well. I will not buy another Renault.
Was the motor replaced under warranty? I've driven the Zoe a couple of years ago, and it was like a tin lined with cheap plastic. The e208 is in a different league. I hope it will serve you well. Drop me a line in a couple of months. Taking the current situation into account I don't know when I'll get to drive it myself :)
I know you like the steering wheel layout and peugeot a lot but since you still prefer the Clio, it must be a worth looking at. Will search for it in your reviews
@@MarekDrives i have read that teh clio with 100ps is very slow from the other on this category! i have drove fiesta and peugeot but i am more confused! I find them at the same price
I drove the 100 hp Clio, and there was nothing particularly wrong with it in terms of dynamics. The Fiesta is probably the best handling car of the bunch, but I found this out driving at speeds, which are irrelevant in everyday use :)
1:43 literally my first reaction when I saw the lower spec one. the only thing improved was the fit and finish of the glove compartment. Clio is cheaper with the essentials hence the high sell numbers and that's the all positives about it :)
I guess I like the design a lot. But touch controls right above giant physical buttons... non-round steering wheel that doesn't feel consistent when manoeuvring slowly. I've enjoyed Peugeot shift levers so far. Wobbly but consistent, you can just slam the gears in.
The Clio will get an hybrid version. Not plug in. Plug in is available for the Capture. For a full electric Renault has already the Zoe with 390 km of range
Soonish. Last week Opel was expecting to register a Corsa e for the press fleet in a couple of weeks, but now with the coronavirus lockdown there may be a delay.
When start spelling tyre producer I tnought it's just cheap chinesse tyres which usually cots €35-45 per tyre. Car looks decent and modern but not too much.

This thing that computer requires gear change even engine in grumbling is ridiculous nowdays. I drove C3 Citroen with 1L engine or similar i felt engine was dying but it guided to use bigger gear XD
The e-208 handles very well, on both wheel rim sizes. The rear suspension is different, maybe better set up? Or maybe your poor cornering was due to the tyres.
I did drive the GT version a few months earlier, and it was on Michelins. Not as bad in terms of overall handling, but that twist-beam rear suspension is a bit tricky at high speed.
Marek Drives Hi. Apparently the suspension on the GT and GT line ie 17 inch rims has been tweaked since the autumn to make it less hard, after reviewer criticism. Hopefully you will be able to test drive a recent e208.
I think COTY should've been awarded to Toyota Corolla. Also I think a lot of journalists were caught by the impression of very good handling car, but didn't really try what Marek and some others experuenced.
I think the Puma was launched way too late for all jurors to become familiar with it. As I recall first press drives were in late January 2020, so even if the jurors got to drive it a couple of weeks earlier, everyone was in Xmas mode, and nobody cared :)
Styling looks good but that's about it. As you mentioned Peugeot could have done better with interior space and the way it drives. Certainly not as good as Peugeot's own Iconic 205, back in the 80's
