This man began his research EXPECTING to see tons of evidence of Systemic Racism by the Police ... but he didn't find it. However, he committed the Unforgivable Sin of being Honest about his findings.

As a black person, all I can say is "Thank you Jesus!" Why wouldn't we want to know this though. We should be happy!!! Hallelujah!
This is why I came to comments. I was like, surely there are blk ppl who are glad to know police are not out to get them. I have beleifs that the left is against straight white men. If I found out they are not I would be happy not mad lol.
But you're still a victim, right?

Ben Stein made a documentary about how there is no free speech in the science community. And this is exactly what he warned about.
Because the haters have to hate or they would have no purpose on the planet!
I'm with Amala. It's ridiculous that people wouldn't be thrilled that a bias does not exist. Only people who KNOW they are receiving privileges from pushing a false narrative would fight truth.
That isn't quite right. When a person is emotionally invested enough in a concept or belief any kind, it takes a strong character to digest that. It becomes a foundation pillar in the mind. A sudden assault on that leaves no time to ensure the stability of the rest of their concept of self will be outright and vehemently rejected.
It can be belief in a preacher, belief in political ideology, belief in a loved one or friends, belief in the righteousness of a course, belief in one's self-importance. It's no different with the false perceptions of an entire community. It's worse because they have others with the same dissonance and reaction to sustain the misperception.
We all are vulnerable about something we don't even think to question. We just think we aren't that way because we can look with detached analytical minds when we see others react where we see clearly. In other instances we are not as invested as many who and retain the ability to reassess. The assailed conception is just not foundational enough to us.
First of all, he’s not saying people shouldn’t protesting, he’s not saying black peoples fears of police are unfounded. He even gives his personal experience with police. It’s strictly on police shootings. 2nd of all his study was flawed. Just to state to state a few he used one city and he used police report. It wasn’t even peer reviewed
Even if we take that study. He still found, black and Hispanic people were 50% more likely to experience some use of force from police.
@@markverani5088here's an easy antidote: stop BELIEVING. Start questioning. No. Not everyone I'd prone to this behavior. Sure, there may be foundational things you didn't think about before, but when they're brought to your attention, interrogate them. I am constantly fact checking the things I say and always learning. There is absolutely nothing in my mind that I'm not willing to part with if new knowledge is found that proves my old thoughts wrong.
@@casthedemon Isn't it a shame that most people don't have that same attitude and make the effort to be more open minded and perceptive when it comes to things like the well being and status of our country?? It's very, very hard for me to come to an agreement of sorts on most topics when discussing them with a liberal... at least since 2016. However, I never fully dismiss them as long as I know I'm talking to someone with a functional brain and they use logic... which, again, is rare since 2016. My point is, I do the same as you... I won't ever fully get behind something unless I've fully invested myself into it and left nothing unturned. I'm never gonna be the fool that came to play Chess with a handful of checkers.
@@casthedemon You didn't read that carefully enough. You just demonstrated part of the point I'm making. You think you are immune. Everyone does. In fact, I am aware I only appreciate it intellectual. Viscerally, I don't actually accept it. There is always something each and every person has that they take for granted. Whether or not that thing ever takes a hit is up to chance. I guarantee you there is something you take for granted and will be dismissive of.
For instance, do you buy any processed meat? Suppose I told you Planned Parenthood owns a brand. Did you get a chill? Is your reflex to reject it? Will you bother to check?
Contrary to what you may think, you cannot question everything. You would be in a mental institution if you did. The most we can do is train ourselves to be as open as possible to our limitations being human. But there will still be something that can set us off balance. Like finding out you are adopted at your wedding. We simply cannot function without assumptions.
In Germany we have a saying that goes "The person who speaks truth needs a fast horse" - to outrun the haters who do not wish to hear the truth.

This is literally the path Thomas Sowell took.
Thomas Sowell noticed early on, mainly due when and where he grew up and what he experienced before hand, so he questioned everything which people were pushing for when he worked as a federal employee.

As a student pursuing research.. this is absolutely insane. Studies are conducted to further the knowledge on a subject, not push a narrative. Colleges should be pushing out information that allows people to make their own informed decisions.. not decide for them.
Not anymore
The truth is there is always a level where assumptions based on universally accepted values determine what will be seen as objective. Outside those values, objectivity is rejected.
For instance, a good leader thinks he is objective. With moral values as a foundation, people are given freedom of speech. Then comes along a murderer. Suddenly the good leader thinks the murderer shouldn't talk freely. Never mind that one labelled murderer by the good leader says he had a good reason for his actions. This is most of the reason for the war in Ukraine.
Systems tend to be blind to the values on which their principles are built until the unforeseeable to them occurs.
Which goes to show college isnt about perusing truth anymore, but manufacturing indoctrination.

Now i would like to see a study on how different ethnic groups respond to police. If you teach an entire group of people to show aggression towards police... you would probably see more "police bias" in the way law enforcement responds towards such groups.
Conclusion says: "On non-lethal uses of force, there are racial differences - sometimes quite large
- in police use of force, even after accounting for a large set of controls designed to account for
important contextual and behavioral factors at the time of the police-civilian interaction[.] [...] Even when officers report civilians have been compliant and no arrest
was made, blacks are 21.2 percent more likely to endure some form of force in an interaction."
So yes, police respond more violently to some groups, regardless of the situation. That is obviously a racial bias, grounded in the fact that they encounter a lot of ill-intended racial minorities (because socioeconomics and the nature of police work). So it's.... understandable, but that doesn't make it *not* racism, I think.
We have the exact same problem with young middle eastern men in my country: police figure out a pattern pretty quickly. It's a reliable pattern. It's still, de facto, a kind of racism. Racism can be statistically justified, but that doesn't make the individual application of said racism less hurtful.
Well, and then you have the added impact of that group of people becoming afraid of police and fight-or-flight kicking in, after the stories of unprompted aggression are told. They have the potential to turn routine stops with small acts of unwarranted aggression into big ones.
Amala herself even pointed this out once, that the narrative of fear-the-police made her so afraid that she was shaking. For people who have a lot of latent anger and aggression fight-or-flight is not a safe place to be.
The narrative is legitimately dangerous for groups who believe stories of serious aggression against unarmed members of minority groups. Or that's what I believe.

I agree completely. When the subject of police use of force comes up I always remind people that even against an unarmed person a police officer can’t take chances. A cop has to use the force necessary to control someone who is combative no more and no less. If a cop gambles and says to themselves that since they are only using hands and feet I will only use hands and feet what happens if they lose. What happens is 1 the cop is helpless if unconscious 2 the cops weapon, radio, taser, car and all other equipment can be taken and used to commit crimes. A cop’s not protecting only their own safety but the safety of the community. A cop just can’t take chances and must meet resistance with sufficient force to stop it.

That is what Larry Elder has said for 5 years, they refused to allow him talk. This man is one of their own, and found what Larry has said.
She is absolutely breathtakingly Beautiful!!! And man is she intelligent and eloquent!!❤❤❤❤
We need to support this young man.
Imagine if Climate Change researchers were as academically rigorous when the results did not meet THEIR hypotheses!
This is the professor Claudine Gay hounded out of Harvard. Many think he's one of the most brilliant economists of his generation.
Good work Amala; right to the point. Great simple presentation, never hiding behind " It's complicated."
Great subject matter. Great show !
Thanks for sharing. This is good news. We should stop fostering division and embrace truth.
Thanks for showing that. He is a hero. And so are you...truth wins.
Modern day Thomas Sowell. Now he’s not black anymore. It’s sad that people will literally say this.
Amala this is absolutely unbelievable. If I didn't see it I wouldn't believe it .But that's why this research is so important people have to be told the truth no matter how hurtful how unpleasant. The truth is the truth. It just shows me I think we are all living under certain conditions that we think are the truth but possibly not
Once again it’s a lot easier to lie to someone than to tell someone they have been lied to.
Good evening, Amala. I have been following your channel for about a year now. You do an amazing job with your channel, and I wish you the best. What I love most about your channel is you create a dialog and help people think more deeply about their world view. This was a great video and something every "academic" or "scholar" should watch. Terrific video I always enjoy your content. Keep up the good work and God bless you!
Truth always, eventually, wins out.
There has BEEN evidence of this, but people have been ignoring it.
Thank's Amala for bringing some sanity to this issue. We need to live in the real world, rather than in the fevered imagination of bigots and racists, whatever their skin colour.
I am becoming a Fan of yours more and more with videos like this! Thanks!
11:53 that’s actually profound. I need to pay more attention to this man!
Do any of you know anyone who was shot and killed by the police? I do. One of my childhood best friends. He was walking home from his girlfriend's house when someone called the police because he looked suspicious. He was unarmed and, yes, he was white. No one will ever here about it and his mom still doesn't know exactly what happened. For anyone thinking I'm trolling, search Layne Campbell Reno Nevada. Rip brother.
Thanks for pointing out the irony of his needing to be under *police* protection - i somehow missed it 😄
id like to ask you and your Team to put the original Video in the description. i really appreciate you making me aware about this topics but i really prefer to listen to the original speech.
Thank you
Thank you, Mr Fryer for doing your duty, like every other American citizen should also be doing.
Wild! Good for him for having the guts to be honest. A true academic!
