Not a humidity issue, more of a philodendron/irregular watering issue. I have high humidity and my Burle Marx was experiencing this issue in a terracotta pot… turns out the poor guy definitely needed to be watered more often than I was. Once the watering was upped, the leaf unfurling issue stopped. Terracotta pots are very breathable, and tend to dry out quicker in an environment that’s not contained, like a ikea cabinet.
Jasmine Lowe commented on my video 🫣😳🤩 it really is a lot of fun watching the colors of the leaves change, I honestly feel I don’t know what to expect with this guy haha
Oh my gosh heck yah!! I’m glad you were able to rescue her, I get such a close bond with plants that are on their last leg and I can help them recover ❤️ I hope that she loves her new home with you!!
Yours looks pretty good! I think its common issue with the leafs not turning fully green. I had mine in high humidity and still had the same issue, so I gave it away lol. But the plant does have great features. Cool that your figuring it out with that one.
Love this video 😍😍😍 It’s true, not many people have this plant. It’s pretty difficult trying to find videos online. She’s a plant that’s underrated. I have one she’s my fav, with a support pole they get super beefy & grow fast. Please more videos with this beauty 😍
Wrote my first comment half way through the video. But yes! :) they get fuzzy when the plant starts to mature. Also regarding my first comment, when you give a support pole the stems get thicker, leaves get huge and those petioles do get fuzzier faster. I only have 6 months with mine and her petioles are fuzzy. Your plant is beautiful 😍
My fuzzy petiole does that thing of wonky unfurling when I underwater. I have it in 85F and 75% humidity and it still gives me wonky leaves if I neglect it. I agree that it’s quite pretty and underrated.
Ahhhh okay maybe I am underwatering mine, I am very paranoid of overwatering so I would not be surprised if I am haha I am going to try watering a bit more often to see if that helps. Thank you so much for sharing!
I have been searching high and low to figure out why mine did that. It was a huge leaf, gorgouse blush, and then stuck for like 2 weeks. I gently unrolled it, and that section was brown and thin. I cut it off because I had a lot more coming up. I didn't think mine was underwatered, but it definitely looks like it needs a pole and more soil.
@@gotta_grow_with_the_flow You're welcome! I appreciate the thought of you sending it so much that I feel like I have the fuzzy petiole philodendron right next to me. Thanks for the phantom gift. 🥰
$16!!! That is a great price CONGRATULATIONS, I found mine for $40! If it makes you feel better about the torn leaf I just tore one my philodendrons new leaves that was emerging! It was heart breaking but I try to remind myself that the small little imperfections make it unique to me ✨
The leaves are pretty thin now that I think about it! I don’t why I thought it was an ‘easy’ plant when I first got it but it definitely is very picky and will grow wonky if the conditions aren’t optimal for it! I hope yours comes around, I am also wondering too if there are just some that have bad genetics…
I’ve never heard of Pike Nursery! I looked up in my maps app but I don’t see one nearby, I see a few on the East Coast, if I ever stumble upon one I’m definitely going in, I love discovering new nurseries
Hello! Love you videos, just purchased this plant and I am excited to see if grow. For the batch in your ikea greenhouse cabinet, what sort of soil mix do you use? I am building a greenhouse for my plants that enjoy humidity but I don’t want to use the wrong soil mix for my plants.
Hi Yadira! Yay I am so excited for you and your new baby plant! I do have a video showing me dividing this plant up and I it shows the soil mixture but what I use is: coco peat, coco chips, worm castings, osmocote, perlite and charcoal. I mix up my own but any chunky soil mix should be okay, you just want to make sure there is good drainage. Are you building a greenhouse cabinet or a greenhouse/tent/room?
14:40 *óO* 😝 Yeah underrated plant like Squamiferum, prince of Orange... and there are many overrated plants, and overrated mature leaf i think. But this philo is so pretty! like a lime Melanocrysum or something, i think i wanna get some.
The leaves are soft like satin but they aren’t velvety, not sure if said they were velvety in the video but if I did I would retract that and say instead they are soft like satin :)

Ahhhh so many fuzzy petioles 😍😍😍. It’s cool to see the variation in color and size.

Thank you! I had no idea this was a common issue… now I am even more intrigued!
Great video, mate! I've wanted one of these for a little while now hehe
It has been a lot of fun, and surprisingly they are pretty hardy even if the throw a little fit because of low humidity haha

Beautiful philodendron thank you for sharing friend
Thank you so much ❣️✨
I definitely also have issues with mine. I think it’s cuz the leaves are so thin. It’s not been fun for me to grow though honestly 😅

Philodendron doesn't like direct sunlight. If you put them outside, make sure they are in a shaded area.
Oh really! I had no idea about that, do the leaves burn with direct sunlight?
@@gotta_grow_with_the_flow Yes, they might get sun stressed and some leaves will turn yellow.
They are climbers 😊
Oh perfect!!!! Thank you so much for informing me I really appreciate it ✨ it can be so hard to find information on some plants!
So... do you think that all Fuzzy Petiole Philos are one clone? Or is the population made up of multiple clones? Thanks.
Oh my gosh I never thought about this!!! I’m going to look more into this and get back to you with my conclusion 🤓
