Basic training story:
I was in the army as a combat medic. At the end of training we were doing a field training exercise and we were learning how to use camo. Now, there are two types of camo, the stuff that's like makeup that girls use that's made of powder, and then there is oil-based paint that comes out of it tube, like toothpaste...
Well, I put the black oil-based paint all over my face, ears, neck, and hands. Yes... Yes, it was exactly like what you think...
Just as I was finished... Our black drill sergeant started yelling my name across the field... I was standing right next to him. He kept yelling, "dammit, where the HELL is GARCIA!" I was standing next to him the whole time with my hand half raised, elbow tucked in my side forearm up with my hand half-heartedly waving. He didn't see me until the rest of the platoon started laughing and pointing when he was asking for me.
When he finally looked at me and saw... 🤣🤣🤣 His eyes got huge and he leans my face staring at me... And then he started busting out laughing 🤣😂🤣😂🤣😂 He laughed until he cried... I honestly don't remember what happened after that 😆

When I was in basic training for the Coast Guard they asked if anyone could not swim. A few guys held up their hands. They were thrown into the deep end of the pool a few seconds later. :) The instructor then turned to the rest of us and said: Well? Save them.

Basic training Army story: Day 3 in the barracks the drill Sergeant left his hat behind. Another cruet and I found it and he put it on, then commenced to act like a drill Sergeant, all the other cruets not knowing the rank structure or what to look for as far as rank on your collar, obeyed him as actually being the drill sergeant. I myself knowing what took place in the beginning of him finding the hat, followed him around at a distance trying to keep from busting a gut laughing while watching him commencing on ripping on the other new soldiers who did not know the difference. As he made his rounds having the other soldiers standing at attention, parade rest doing push-ups, ripping the bedding from their bunks and have them remake their bunks, had them screaming yes drill Sgt., he actually had one of the other recruits shaking so bad in his boots that he pissed his pants, and a whole bunch of other very funny activities. In the middle of one of his acts on a new recruit, the actual drill sergeant walked in and was watching him for a bout two minutes, as I went around the corner and was busting a gut out loud while the actual drill sergeant was standing behind the imitator. The drill sergeant then leaned into his right ear and shouted attention. As the imitator drill Sgt. shrugged and turned around the look on his face as if he seen a monster, he snapped to attention. The actual drill sergeant then slowly lifted his hat off the imitator drill sergeant head, put his hat on and then told that recruit to drop and give him 50. The drill sergeant then stated to him as he was laughing, nice job for the acting. The drill sergeant then turned and walked out. Then the whole group was busting a laugh at the whole situation that occurred.
At the airport, on our way home after Basic and AIT, my buddy saluted a Pilot from Braniff Airlines. Back in '69.
The longest I ever kept my tree up was 24 years and counting. Lol.
I planted it out in the front yard and it has grown from 3 feet to over 20.

I’m from Germany, and in the past we didn’t decorate the tree until Christmas Eve, we didn’t take it down until the end of January. I loved it. Lol

Does anyone else agree that Tyler is the most genuine UA-camr out there? He’s so chill and consistent and actually believes in good things!
He does the perfect amount of commenting and he's not annoying and the content is great. I'm on UA-cam Premium around 3-4 hours each day (don't judge. It's the only social media I get) and he's by far got the best content out of any of them out there. He'll hit 1M in 6 months. I'm black and my 63 year old mom gets on UA-cam solely to watch his videos.

The drill sergeant yelling in the face of the guy who wouldn't respond was SO IDENTIFIABLE! My mom forced me into the military back in 1983. I was 19, and the drill sergeant was only 23. When he started yelling "MAGGOT!!" in my face, I just started laughing and said that I thought that only happened on reruns of "Gomer Pyle"! 😂🤣🤣🤣

Tyler, I just like to say after watching this collage of challenges, may I add sadly lost everytime, it reminded me of the first one I ever watched and thought to myself "This guy is going to be my doctor and his videos are my antidote to get over the blues." Thank you Tyler Zed for bringing us this far and showing us EXACTLY what kind of world we live in. Hope to show this in the future generations and tell them "Yea, you guys lucked out. This is what we had to go through."

9:25 My husband still talks about playing golf with his dad since he was 4 and remembering the first time he ever beat him when he was 16. I hear this story at least once a year. I, for one, am happy he kept that old school approach to competition when it comes to our kids. It teaches them to be proud of when they accomplish something. Our eldest son is so competitive in football that he plays starting offense and defense, and special teams for his school. I can’t wait to see what his siblings do in terms of their fierce competitive natures!

When I was doing my basic training in 1984 we had a 5am inspection where the Corporal could find nothing wrong. Everything was neat, polished and in correct order. Suddenly the faucet dripped and he pointed at it and screamed: 'Report at 05:00hrs on the parade square in fatigues with the offending item' and left.
At 05:00hrs next morning our squad stood to attention with the faucet unscrewed and highly polished. Without raising an eyebrow, the Corporal inspected the faucet to ensure 'the offending item' no longer dripped, then dismissed us for breakfast. You can't make up the shit that goes on in the Army.

During my USMC basic training, we had a live grenade tossing exercise, the recruit right in front of me pulls the pin out of the grenade and he threw the pin instead of the live grenade...
Did he die or realize his mistake in time and throw the grenade after the pin?

When I joined the Navy, I was 19 years old, but I was short, skinny, scrawny and whimpy looking. Every one thought I was 14 years old.
The day we met the company commander, we were lined up in front of our racks. He stepped in front of each and every one of us and
the only thing he would say is give each and every one of us a nick name.
He stepped in front of me, looked me up and a down, pointed at me and said " Pee-Wee " and that is what everyone called me from that point on.
I had the same nickname. I was on a detail (in basic) and a female sergeant came into where we were working and asked, "Where's that little peewee guy?" Lmao. I was 5'4" 125 lbs at the time.

In Army Boot camp 1974. I got caught with a one pound bag of M&M's. Had to eat the whole bag in one minute. Then the Drill instructor dumped out my canteen of water. I had no water for the rest of the day. I had brown foam coming out of every orifice of my body. Couldn't look at M&N's for years after that..

In defense of the guy who took a wheelchair through the airport and was walking poolside later that day; some people have a good deal of pain when they walk and the distances at the airport are no picnic, If he'd walked that distance he may have missed much of the fun the following days had in store,

Yes Tyler, those ammonia smelling salts can be just that potent. I am a RN and have had to use them a few times over the years and it is sort of like a punch in the nose. That man was asleep, not nearly unconscious thus I think he response was just about right.
alright, Basic Training story: my drill sergeant was a badass, but he looked exactly like Damon Waynes in Major Payne. I mean, identical. He knew it too, and he did the whole Major Payne schtick on our first day at the unit. we were standing there in formation on a hot July day in Oklahoma waiting for the command to go to at ease when he came out and started in on it. and sure enough, one kid in the back opened his damn mouth and said something and you see the most evil grin go over the drill sergeant's face as he tells us to get down and start doing push ups. he may have been a tough bastard, but he was a great leader and he never gave up on us in his platoon.

I have two favorites that I've personally witnessed:
1 Extremely obese nurses, yes nurses, working for an assisted living facility, wearing masks in 95 degree summer heat just to walk to their car and sit in it with windows up only to take off the mask and smoke. My wife got really pissed when I called them out for it. No regrets.
2 An idiot driving a motorcycle in 90+ summer heat, wearing a mask.... and no helmet.
I will defend his right to splatter his brains all over the road BUT, he needs to defend my right to not wear a mask.
The mask was to avoid eating bugs.

In The summer of 1980 I showed up at Coast Guard boot camp with a beard BMC Williams our DI asked if I wanted to keep my beard I stated Sir yes Sir as we matched to the barber's. Well they shaved it off put it in a sandwich bag and put it around my neck , where I had to show every DI I still had it - this went on for a month.
Love it as always! The older gentleman sitting in his wheelchair in the airport-some people can walk, but not well enough for the long walks required in an airport. My mom is the same. She generally uses a walker but for big places we go wheelchair. 😊

Basic Training: Other TI's played joke on our TI - removed hinge pins from door. He was large, well built fellow. Went to intimidate the door guard in the barracks, usual yelling threats, etc, trying to get into barracks without proper authorization. Eventually, grabbed the door handle to shake the door and the door came off the hinges. Poor door guard was out the fire escape and down to the office in record time while TI was left holding the door as to not break the door return.
XD those bath salts are what they use to make sure a person is not comatose and man, is it POTENT! They used it on Sonic in the Sonic movie
That kid running into the door is one of the funniest things I have ever seen, Hope the kid is alright though and has a full recovery.

The one about the school haircut reminded me of my third grade school picture. I had a Bible Class Teacher at church that I really liked. He had a bald head on top with hair all around the sides. Mom cut our hair at home so I asked her to cut my hair like “Mr Trumper” and she did. Our school pictures were scheduled for the next day she didn’t know but I did! She should have had a clue when I asked for a haircut instead of trying to NOT get one.

15:03 I witnessed almost his exact thing in basic and I couldn't believe the guy just REFUSED to answer the Sergeant. Found out afterward that the guy had a stutter - not the typical kind Hollywood makes fun of, but one where you never really hear it until he is stressed and then he can't utter a sound.

2 BCT stories
1. The Drill SGT found a small Lego axe on the ground, then took my weapon locked it up and gave me the axe as my new assigned weapon. I had it for like 3 whole days.
2. Some private was holding a rock on the zero range and the Drill SGT said the rocks were his only friends and gave him a sharpie and made him name all the rocks. He did this for at least 6hrs.

Basic Training story:
My ex-husband was in USMC basics and the drill sergeant lined them up in the latrine. To show how clean they were to keep the area, he placed a Baby Ruth in one of the toilets. Once every one was in there he storms in, grabs the wet Baby Ruth out of the toilet and takes a huge bite out of it. He then says, "there is no room for weak pieces of **** here." Everyone had to clean the latrine because more than half of them puked. It was only when they graduated that they found out it was a candy bar.
I have used the pythagorean theorem... remember, however, when I was growing up they told us to learn the multiplication tables because you won't be carrying a calculator around with you everywhere, you know. (oops, sorry, just got a text!)
One time in BCT I was with a senior drill sergeant with a battle (it was his last cycle and was so fun) and he said "FUCK A DUCK!" and me knowing I could mess with I said "I'm pretty sure that's illegal" his face was priceless as he was trying to come up with a comeback to that 🤣

Okay so here is my Marine Corps boot camp story, since you asked Zed. Anyways, well we were running in formation and the recruit next to me accidentally kicked my foot causing me to trip and twist my ankle. Now I could not run and for punishment for getting broke body, I was taken back to the squadbay by the senior DI for incentive training via push ups. The DI put his boot below my face and had me do pushups towards it. When or if I touched it he would kick my head. Eventually, after a while of pushups, longer than I could guess, I must have passed out due to exhaustion. I woke up with the DI grabbing me up by my underwear and slinging me into the wall. He then put my face against a wall locker and slammed it a few times before dragging me into the bathroom. There he put his hands around my neck until I blacked out. When I woke up later, on the floor, one of them said something along the lines up, "when are you going to get the fuck up off of my deck Miller?" Yes, that is exactly what happened. Not a good day.

We were the top ranked squadron on the base for marching, but I knew what would happen if we won pass in review. So I messed up on purpose so we would loose. The next best squadron won and rubbed our noses in it. HOWEVER... They had to go and march in all these different programs to show off the top squad while we were given a weekend pass and were driving around San Antonio in a "72 Cutlass convertible with a case of beer in the back, we had a great time. But the icing one the cake... Sgt Merced, my TI, pulled me aside and told me that he saw what I did and that I would do good in the AF.
I laughed my azz off on this one. The man in the bathroom with the fart spray had me crying! My hubby is a fart monster, so I can relate!
I tell the wife that the dog did it. We have an especially gasy boxer so that helps my cause

Fort Benning 1997. We had a full funeral for a bottle of laundry soap. 6x6x3 hole, folded flag, and fake 21 gun salute included, after ds tossed the barracks, blamed it on a camo stick, and claimed the laundry soap died trying to stop it. 😂😂😂 The whole barracks was covered in laundry soap, scouring powder, and oil camo paint on the walls and floors.
Seems that the various clips of this guy desperately trying to grow that peach fuzz 'stache under his nose are not included in these best ofs. Why not?... Now those were truly hysterical...lol
