One suggestion I have, is don’t mix up too much of the epoxy at one time. Buy some cheap disposable small paint brushes, about 3 inches wide. I’m doing two gaps at the same time. The first coat went well, but I tried to mix up too much epoxy and do the second coat on both.after I got the first gaff covered, the epoxy started going off and getting really sticky and forming long strands. I’m very happy with my new gaffs.

When you do your pull through,pull the loop until it gets to the grip then stop and cut the tag 1/2" long and when you pull it through our stays burried under the wrap.

If you put the epoxy in a small paint pan it will not get hot and you will have much longer working time... awesome video!!!

Do you see any reason not to cut a groove to fit the shaft into so i t sits flush or near flush?

Hey thanks for this. What's the diameter of the wood rod from Lowes? Is it poplar, maple or oak?
What epoxy are you using? Mine dried so fast and made it hard, yours look more watery
Could be a couple of things. Epoxy was old, ricing ratio wasn’t correct, it’s a fast set epoxy.
Where can you buy the gaff head on Oahu?
You can find them pretty much everywhere. Pop, J&E Fishing supply, Roy's, West Marine, and a bunch more. 🤙
