    This is a lot like working on a bicycle. When you're turning something and it wants to turn as you tighten it (happens a ton with brake pads), there's an art to twisting it the wrong way just enough to twist it into place before friction locks it down perfectly center (re: the blade guide tolerance issue).

    I have the exact same saw but mine is a 10". The blade tension is: once the spring make contact go another Three Turns, I usually go 3 1/2 turns on mine, I can't believe how much I use this over my larger saws, if the piece will fit I go to this saw first and I love it.

    This was so very informative. I paid 75 for mine. Sadly I had no idea how the inner workings of a bandsaw worked. I just turned it on and went. Until the band broke the other day. So I will tend to the task with the blade replacement with so much more information. Thank you for you have made my day.

    Getting an old 1970-80 is your best bet if you like fixing. I got an old all aluminum delta 9in. I absolutely love it..so cute❤❤❤. Also, I have a 16 cast iron grizzly. It got lots of awards in its day. I use the baby all the time my grizzly eats its dust mostly. I think Ill beaf the motor up on my baby!!❤😂.

    Thank you for this video. Very helpful and informative. I have the 9” Delta 28-150. Trying to get it into workable condition. My blade shifted to the right and when I tried to lock it down the white plastic collar piece inside the guide broke in half on my machine when I took it apart to inspect it. Any ideas where I can buy this part from? In not I guess I’ll try to epoxy it.

    • @SouthpawWorkshop
      @SouthpawWorkshop  Рік тому +1

      I doubt they stock parts for these anymore. delta isn’t the company it used to be. You can try gluing it or maybe finding someone to 3D print the part in question? Good luck!

    Good deal.
    I don’t need to watch.
    Tiny bandsaws do some fantastic things for little things- architecturally cut wood shingles, small aluminum brackets or parts, kerfing turned spindles for blind wedges; I could go on a long time. My tiny one is a harvor fright that cost me $59 over twenty years ago. It needs new tires and I need some new fine blades. Won’t replace a ‘real’ bandsaw but it’s stinkin’ handy portable and tiny footprint.

  • @davestune
    @davestune 10 місяців тому +2

    This bandsaw is a nightmare, replaced blade, its hard to do precision cuts, mostly off square, I got it into square a few times upgraded bearings blocks Timberwolves blade 16 tpi I believe.
    Squared and somehow off, what I use it for has to be exacting. Going to blow 2 k on a new saw, cant find an old saw from 50,s or earlier around here.
    All new major brands are junk in My eyes.

    • @SouthpawWorkshop
      @SouthpawWorkshop  10 місяців тому

      Look at Powermatic, Laguna, Rikon, Harvey or even Grizzly if you want a high quality band saw. I haven’t had any issues with either of my Delta band saws after I got them dialed in correctly, but I’m sure there are a few lemons floating around there so your predicament isn’t surprising

    • @davestune
      @davestune 10 місяців тому

      @SouthpawWorkshop prolly going to get a powermatic, out of all that junk you mentioned this thing seems better, unless I can find a old one made on usa

    • @SouthpawWorkshop
      @SouthpawWorkshop  Рік тому +1

      My guess is that your wheels are unbalanced somehow. Maybe a build up of sawdust or maybe a piece of the bandsaw tire missing?

      Alex Snodgrass is the leading authority on how to properly set up and adjust a bandsaw. If this method doesn’t work, you may be dealing with a warped bandsaw frame.

    Great seeing inside the inner workings bro.. Get the hoover out bro and tidy up.. LOL.. Dude u said u don't upload as much anymore? What happened? Jobs get in the way I suppose. It's the same for me. I have a small workshop. Table saw(crap) but I'm just about to begin building my own homemade table saw using a lotta steel. The one I have is ok but the mitre slots are bad and I cannot use the nice mitre gauge I got a year ago. It cost nearly as much as the saw did.. LMAO.
    I bought a load of SQ tubing diff sizes, Angle bar and also welders and all the gear. Haven't welded anything since school at 12/13 yrs old and I'm now 51 this year.. This should be fun my bro.. heehee!
    My shop is half the size of your double garage. 16x10ish feet..
    Dont take this the wrong way bro but ur shop looks a real mess. Have u given up doing this for some reason. U seem like a well clued up guy with the machines and all that but it looks to me like u haven't been in ur shop in a long while.
    U were either in prison or ur on the weed??? 🤣😂🤣😂🤣😂 .. I'm only buzzin' with ya my friend. I will share the video and I have sub'd and liked also.
    BTW ur not alone bro. I need to clean the shit outa mine too. I've been putting it off for a month or 2 now. It's a bloody mess is mine. I can never stay on top of it. Mine is a feckin' mess mate. Like someone set a bomb off in there..
    Get back making more videos bro. I like that big Grizzly Bandsaw u have. Are they a good maker of big tools? I keep prattling on man. I'm gonna say goodbye now. Get back making videos man.. Gotta keep it going. U have a lotta subs.. Fair play. I'm going to check more videos out on ur channel later too man.. Take care dude..

      @SouthpawWorkshop  Рік тому

      Grizzly makes great tools. Pretty great pricing especially in the US. As far as shop cleanliness goes… I usually clean up before I start a new project. Easier to find what I need when I need it. But I’m too busy making stuff to worry too much about sawdust and clutter. Sometimes when I make these videos, I’m in the middle of a project, so what you see is what you get. Thanks for watching. I’m still around. Just don’t upload as much. Job change and not as much free time as I once had. Cheers!

    How does one measure the inches of a bandsaw

    • @SouthpawWorkshop
      @SouthpawWorkshop  7 місяців тому +2

      Many people believe it is the diameter of the bandsaw wheels, but it is actually the size of the “throat” or the distance between the blade and the upright, hence, the cutting capacity of the saw.
