I sorely need this! Finally figured out at 5:50, when you selected the large "M", you the RIGHT clicked to select it and got the menu with the ungroup vector command, etc.
Nice video. I have downloaded a trial version of carveco maker. This is so much more advanced than carbide create. Going to take a bit to figure this out, but I will figure it out. Thanks for your videos. I have learned a bunch already.
It’s the “twiddle view” which I think you can also access under the edit window. Depending on your mouse, you can also hold shift and press the roller wheel. Then just move your mouse.
thank you, great video! I have done the same exact monogram, without the maker text, just a monogram letter. When I go to toolpath, and input the info, I have open vectors at the cut points on the letter at the circle. Why do you think that happens, and what is the best way to close them? Thanks!
Great video. I definitely need to upgrade from the limitations of CC. I want to make this switch but I use two computers. My surface to design sitting in bed at night and use a thumb drive to transfer to my computer mounted to my CNC enclosure. Do you have any idea if this is possible with this software? Thanks for all the info you provide
I’m pretty sure you can use it on 2 computers. I had it on my laptop and desktop simultaneously. Shoot them an email. They have great customer support.
This looks like it is a neat software. I may try the basic edition since it seems to have a monthly subscription. I had been saving up for Vectric Aspire.
You can customize your key to centre in the model if F9 is colliding with your recording software. Window>Tools and Docking Windows>Customise. Select keyboard and the category Vector. In that command list you will find "Centre in Model" to select the new key. Looks like most of the shortcuts can be customized.
Chris: I'm having trouble grasping CNC/Carveco Maker. Example: I am trying to follow along and do what you do in the video. One of the first things when you click on the OK button on the New Model screen the new model pops up along with a Project/Model Panel on the right side. I have looked every where and cannot find out to display that panel. It is these kind of things that get me confused. Can you/anyone help?
I really enjoyed the video but it left me wondering what the next step is. You briefly mentioned something at the end about selecting a post processor and Carbide Motion..."load up Carbide Motion, initialize your machine, load that program and you'd be ready to go." I'm new to this so it sounds like I would need a couple different programs from different companies to string this all together. I have a background working in Adobe Illustrator, SketchUp, Blender and a little SolidWorks so it shouldn't be too hard for me to get up to speed on Carveco Maker. What's confusing is the next steps after you finished this video. I'm asking because I'm about to pull the trigger on a Onefinity Journeyman as my first cnc. I'm creating a shopping list of all the "other stuff" I'll need to buy to get up and running. Software is my missing link. Thanks very much!
Great video Chris! So, if I do not want the top and bottom rectangle and my big letter intersects with the little letters, how do you deal with cleaning that up? It seems like the software doesnt think those lines intersecting means anything if that makes sense.
Hey Chris do you know if its modify a model in carveco. for example I already have my 3d model and started with my wood at 12x12 x .75. I now need to increase the size to 24x24 x .75. I havent found where to edit the size. Thanks James
@@ChrisPowellFSD No but I am sure I will need that too sometime in the future. I did find how to change the starting size under the Model tab and there was an option to edit there that worked for me. To be honest all this programming stuff is frying my braincells but your videos really help me out alot. Appreciate your time you put into your craft.
I have using Easel for the last year and I keep running into problems which you have to have the pro version. I have purchased the pro and ran with it but its not capable to my machine and doesnt work correctly. I need to change and it looks like this has more options and is cheaper to use. I hope I dont have a large learning curve to use it. I will have to start looking at tutorials
This video was done with Carveco Maker. There’s also Maker + if you want to do 3D designing also. Here’s the link to both. Just make sure you use the code CHRISPOWELL to save some money. store-us.carveco.com/?ref=_RReBGm4jGdhr
I've created a couple of files and cut them with success (mostly). The problem I'm having is that I created some 3/4" width vectors to cut channels for some T-track. I used a 1/4" end mill to cut them 3/8" deep. After I created them, I converted the bitmap to a vector and used Flood Fill Vector. After creating the tool path and saving it, I cut the file. The width and depth were correct, but it only cut the outer edges and left the center untouched. I thought if you used flood fill, the tool would remove all of the material, but it didn't. I don't even know what to call it so I can search for an answer. How would I accomplish this? Thanks for any help.
Do you think you could do a video showing how to do the Carbide Advanced Vcarve on Carveco? I’ve tried to research but I’m not sure what the proper terminology is for carveco. Thanks man
Hi Chris. Great video. I was wondering if you could help me out? I'm new at this and using Carveco Maker (just learning). I don't know what I did but I have lost my 2D and 3D tabs. When I open up a new project both the 2D and 3D windows come up and I have to minimize the one I don't use. I hope you can help. Thanks.

Sir, I noticed you made mention of the F9 centering your image. I was wondering if there is some sort of cheater for Carveco with any or all of keystroke short codes in it? Not sure if that’s what you would call them.
There are some in the Carveco help. Though it is divided into sections (General, Vector, Bitmap, Relief, Transform, Node Editing, Text and Polyline shortcuts. If you open the help menu, near the bottom of the table of contents there is a section labelled "Keyboard shortcuts and mouse controls"
Chris, I've been looking for an alternative program that will do more than what CC can provide. Doesn't seem to have a huge learning curve so I might be able to handle this. Thanks
I was a little intimidated when I first looked at it. Now that I’ve actually started using it though, it seems very natural. The layout is logical, and the buttons mostly do what I expect. It’s also nice having the message pop up telling you what a button means. They have a lot of tutorials on it already, which has been helpful.
Nice video! Thank you. You said near the end of the video that this program is much easier to use than the one you were using before. If you don't mind me asking, which one were you using before? I've been working with Fusion 360, and it isn't very easy.
Carbide Create. It’s a simple program, it you have to do a lot to get it to do anything besides basic stuff. Carveco Maker just has a lot more options. Fusion is a pain. I could never get the CAM part figured out.
Great video Chris, are you done doing CC tutorials? The reason I ask is I had to download a new version of CC because the one I was using crashed. After the new version upload the tool library was changed and I'm not too keen on the way it's going about things. Nothing that I can't work around though. Keep up the great work.

Hey Chris thanks so much for these tutorials I'm new to CNC and they are very helpful. Subscribed. I have an iMac and you said you were using Carveco on Mac with bootcamp. Are you still using it that way as I don't want to buy a new Windows computer to use the software.
Watch your video very informative I was almost ready to give up carveco because the guy that narrates the official video lol even though I learn English with a UK TEACHER very hard to understand and the explanation is well
You’re welcome. I’m actually running this on a Mac. Some people are doing it with Parallels, but I was having issues with my graphics card, so I just use Boot Camp. The only other thing I needed to do was get a mouse that was better suited for design. It’s nearly impossible to use the program without a middle wheel. It really works great.
