I'm very excited, I'm ready for the draft, there's so many options . I hope we address the trenches. Whether we end up with only 4 picks or not we need impact players, we need starters.
Poles isn't a fool. He's getting the big guy from Penn State at 9 to protect Caleb. Definitely not getting a WR or edge.
The defense doesn’t need as much help as the offense. I would concentrate on drafting o-line heavy in this draft. There’s a lot of good offensive linemen in this draft and the Bears should capitalize on this. Bears already have WRs to work with; Velus Jones, Eq St. Brown, Tyler Scott. DJ and Keenan will be sufficient for this season, Kmet and Everett are solid at TE. If I were the GM, I’d trade the #1 pick down a few spots and draft Joe Alt at LT, Fuaga at #9, and Jackson Piwers-Johnson in the 2nd round from the trade down from pick #1. We’re not trying to win the SuperBowl this season. We’re still rebuilding.
At 122 I'd think hard about the Punter from Iowa (I know it's high on a punter, but with the D and a position game... Damn)
Good piece... I am high on Jonah Elliss in the 3rd rd. I don't know why he's not projected to go much higher in most mocks but if he should last till pick 75 Poles should draft him.

The perfect draft is also using next year’s draft surplus to grab a DE. Would I trade our 2-2nd round picks to Arizona to trade back into the 1st round to draft Darius Robinson, yes I would.

This is the ultimate mock draft below. I even made a quick short of the PFF mock draft.
If Chargers really said they’d be willing to swap #5 with #9 for a 2025 2nd rounder (which is actually more than a fair trade, so that’s good), do it if only 1 receiver has been drafted by then. We would be at #5 now. That leaves Nabers and Odunze still on board.
Now trade up with the Vikings. Give them #5 and they give us #11 and #23. Use a 2025 5th or 6th if you have to.
Now we have #11 and #23
Vikings will either choose a QB or either Nabers or Odunze.
While Vikings are debating who to pick, make a trade happen with the Giants. They’re #6 for our #23 and our 2025 1st round pick (or our other 2nd round pick if they take that). Giants still get a pick in the 1st round plus our 2025 1sr round. Easier to accept that against just a future pick and you’re out of the 1st round this year.
Now Bears have #6 and #11.
#6: draft Nabers or Odunze.
#11: draft Latu or Verse.
You are essentially making your 2025 1st round pick this year with an edge rusher. So you didn’t lose it. What we gave up was the 2025 2nd rounder. Which we could have used with either a player or ammo for a trade. In this case, we used it as ammo for a trade.
If we make the playoff next year, we will be picking in the 20s next year for our 1st round pick. Wouldn’t you want to pick at #11 with that pick instead? So use it this year for a top 2 rusher.
Also, if you have to include a player in one of those trades, then do it. Someone who we can do without but has enough value to make the trade. At #75, you can trade back to high 80s or low 90s to gain a 2025 3rd or 4th round pick. Gain back at least a pick for next year.
Worst case scenario after we make that first initial trade, we are stuck at #5. Not a bad place to be to choose between those 2 main WRs remaining.

If 4 QBs go early, the perfect mock is trading up one spot to Atlanta for a Bears/Eagles compensation to guarantee one of Alt/Nabers/Odunze/Harrison is the pick at 8. Everything else is wrong. The is the optimal trade (QB scenario)
I love watching Trevor Sikema on the stock exchange, but I disagree with some of his basic concepts. He always says, "don't get tricky. Just take a good football player". But the Chicago Bears are in a situation where a draft strategy makes sense. You trade down at #9, pick up a 2nd round pick, and get an absolutely great WR in the 2nd round. That's the correct strategy. Odunze is not the right answer.
They need a depth pieces on the o line.
most "good" players in college are mediocre in NFL. You traded probowl caliber talent for back-ups.

Liatu has more pass rush moves than any other end in this draft but Verse is better vs the run.. if Lautu didn't have injury questions he's the number 1 edge in this class

In my opinion the Bears can't be graded higher than a "C" for running it back and making the same mistake the last regime did.
It does seem to a difficult parameter to meet.
I see the Bears drafting another QB in the top 10 in 3 to 4 years.
The First Mock Draft: "D/D-"
1. Williams... meh nothing special. He is going to produce like Fields a bunch of sacks, fumbles and then coaches will blame him as well. The Bears will be 7-10 next year.
9. Odunze ... the Bears need one of the top 3 receivers in this draft. Probably the only player in the draft to get a second contract from the Bears.
75. Elliss ... "?" the Bears really need a Center, but DE is need. This is why the Bears draft is going to graded lower because the lack depth and strength added to the team.
122. Hunt ... "Who" doubling up on DE is ridiculous. Is this another Dominique Robinson? They done nothing with Robinson. Where is the O-line?
The Second Mock Draft: C-/D+ you get 3 starters.
1. Williams - the same. Williams the 6th best play in the draft but is the top QB.
14. Verse - It's good to get a DE but the Bears miss out on the top 3 receivers. The trade B- just because you got a 2nd round and 3 more picks.
57. Frazier - Poles doesn't like the Center position.
92. Smith - Still no receiver.
122. Washington - Poles is horrible at picking late round receivers.
150. Smith - another Safety... the Bears have 25-30 DBs.
170. Wiley - could be a developmental project.
190. Goncalves - Meh.
The reason why the Bears draft will be capped is all because of Ryan Poles.
Chances are the Bears could have gotten another haul by trading the 1st overall pick and he could have strengthened all of the positions of need. Because QB was not a position of need.
Commanders rumored to offer 3 first round picks! Even if this is a rumor a common trade could have looked like:
1st for 2nd, 40th, 78th and a 2nd in next year's draft.
So, an hypothetical draft could have looked like keeping the 2nd mock draft.

Rome is not going to be there as much as I like him. I think MN will trade up to Arizona draft a QB. Then they will trade with TEN or ATL to draft Rome.
